Yes. It is called employment at will. Many states have that law.

Yes, I know that....

I'm replying to this dude's assertion that "If your employer fires you without cause or evidence you can sue them. "

Civil case and Roethlisberger reached a settlement - when you reach a setllement you admit some guilt.... Terms were not released so we don't know

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/7485346/settlement-reached-ben-roethlisberger-civil-lawsuit

there is no admittance of guilt, they both agreed to settle the case, the case was then dismissed, they never got into a court room..... Ben and his lawyer were smart, they wanted to get it behind him..

In a criminal case, Greg Hardy payed off the woman to not cooperate and disappear in his case after he was found guilty and had verdict set aside for an appeal ...

I don't know if Zeke did it or not, but if he did, shame on him and he is getting what he deserves. If he did not do it, shame on the NFL for politicizing a serious charge that could haunt Zeke for the rest of his life.

And how much do you really think he's going to get from a stripper? It's not worth his time and money (lawyer fees) to sue her.
In reality, it doesn't matter about the money. It's about the perception. If he is truly innocent, he needs to fight not just the league, but the girl herself. If he gets a judgement in his favor, but doesn't collect a penny, he still wins. His name would be cleared. He gets money not from the girl, but through endorsements from companies who won't touch him otherwise.

The NFL (who among them are leading this charge I haven't got a clue) will look like utter ***** if and when Zeke is shown to be innocent. It will be seen that in their quest to be tough on domestic violence, where in the past they were seen as soft and compromising when there was legitimate evidence for it, e.g., Ray Rice, Josh Brown, etc., they effectively railroaded an innocent potential star of the league just to be PC.

I really wish people would stop using "PC" as a disparaging term.

This case has nothing to do with "political correctness" and everything to do with the NFL's relationship with advertisers and sponsors.

"PC" is the basis for shakedowns and bullying of advertisers and sponsors,,, so, it is relevant.

It is born out of truth though. The implication being that people become more concerned with how a group has collectively been treated than the individual cases themselves.

In that case, she should have a pretty open and shut civil case against Zeke. So why hasn't she sued him?

maybe she will at some point, maybe she won't, maybe she's just happy to be out of that situation and put it behind her.....I don't know what's in her mind, maybe just that a lot of people in hostile/combative relationships blame themselves..

Oh brother, the girl is a liar and a piece of trash who thought about selling sex tapes to make money off Zeke.

She has no believability!

The panels decision wreaks of no independence!

Zeke has quite a few credibility issues himself

Or maybe it's because in a civil trail where they are really using a preponderance of evidence standard, they would laugh her out of court.
