Tony didn't say it was Dakota's job forever. He conceded last season because Jerry told him the time to compete for jobs was back in training camp, not the middle of the season. It's a new season coming and the same policy is in place. Compete for jobs at training camp... Jerry's policy not mine so don't get mad at me.
Jerry doesn't get a starting policy.
In fact Jerry doesn't get to run much of anything (except his mouth)anymore or else we'd have had Johnny Manziel here.
You are naive as can be.
Romo's teary-eyed confession was permanent.
If Dallas was going to let Romo ever compete it would have been last year versus sending a rookie into playoff games.
By all accounts Romo looked better in practice and it didn't matter.

Jerry has billions of reasons to go with Dak. Literally.
And he's not a dumb business man.

Romo is not going to wear the star in a game ever again.
If that truly troubles you there will be another team you can follow.
But the reality if you believe Tony is going to be back, go out and back his jersey. Invent 200 bucks in this theory.

The list of things Jerry has said that came out to be exactly the opposite in the last 24 months is staggering.

that is how it should be, Tony with dak on the sideline would try much harder to be the best he can be, same for Dak with tony on sideline.
competition is good, for years tony had none and it did affect his play and preparation.

However the cowboys will do the standard thing, which is get rid of tony, anything else would be innovative and buck traditional NFL methods.
They wont do that.

I agree, but no telling what jones boys will do.
That is not true.
Dallas currently has the 4th highest spend at QB (and it would be 3rd when WAS deals or extends Cousins) in the NFL for 2017.
That is not average.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Read a little bit on how beneficial the relationship between Joe Montana and Steve Young was.

every bit of that is false.
all of it.

no, dallas shouldn't bring back romo when they badly need his cap space this year and in the following season.
they have 3m currently and have 5-7 key spots to fill.
they'll flip a switch or two but believe they badly need the 5m Romo leaving frees up.

the keep em and let em compete isn't innovative or new, it was the way it was done 20 years-40 years ago.
it isn't fresh thinking, it was pre-cap thinking.

Just stepping in to ask two questions..

1) Did anybody ever say Tony freakin Romo would be the best of all time?
If so, maybe you can link it

2) Also, I'm not one that ever put Tony ahead of Troy, but please tell me you aren't saying the all-around teams Tony had were even nearly as good at what Troy had.
Are you saying that?

Honest,drect, yes/no questions
No insults
An honest answer only requires "yes or no" nothing more

I'll play this;
1) yes, I've stated twice Romo is the greatest statistical numbers quarterback this franchise will have ever fielded.( your grandchildren might contest this statement in the future, but I doubt it.)

2) No, not even close! I think him having Witten as a constant is the only thing equal or greater than troy and that stacked class he had.

I kind of feel sorry for young fans.

Especially those who didn't even get to fully experience Aikman with a mature brain, let alone Staubach.

Romo is their shining standard.

It's all they got.

This poor sad sack of a case that if gosh darn it, they just got more talent around him, he would have been the greatest of all time.

That just tells me their poor waifs have not experienced enough football to make an educated decision and form a reasonable perspective.

At the end of the day, Romo will just be a tragic chapter in team history, very much like Danny White was.

White had more to work with in retrospect.

But to act like Romo is like another case like Dan Marino or others and is some all timer is just wrong. Dead wrong.

What will be really really enteraining is when he becomes eligible for the Hall of Fame and doesn't get it.

Thought I'd point out that if this was a veiled jab @rambo2 ,, that dude got 7 years over on you friend, just pointing that out.

1)The question was greatest of all-time in the NFL, not just Dallas. I'd say no.
2) totally agree. No disrespect to Troy at all, for example, but not much chance he even has one SB win if he traded places with Tony. Again, no slight to Troy, but just reflection of the teams each played with....especially the defenses.

well I am not saying they liked it, if you watch the football life show on bill walsh, they get into all that, and it did lead to a SB win with montana.

not only the players, but the coaches too.
JG had a SB team in 2014 and 2016 and couldnt get past div round and GB with both romo and dak.
