I'm not going to rip on Ware as some will, I like the guy myself I'm more concerned of paying out big money for little production when that money can be used to add more players to the DL.

I look at 2009 ware was coming off a 20 sack season and in 09 he only put up 11 but he bounced back in 10 and 11. Sure his sacks are down last year, 11.5 in 2012 was alright given the defense he was surrounded with. I think you give him this year... and if we flops, he's cut. If he bounces back... alright.

Even if we cut him we are still in cap hell, so its not like we can go sign someone to replace him... it would be in the draft. Just look at the list of FA DE's... nothing really out there!

Its time to move on but if they want to keep him I wouldnt give him more than 4 million a year. Hes been absolutely terrible when you look at what he's paid!

Myself I would be willing to give him a more modest contract with the oppertunity to make more though incentives. After all if he stays the one thing we would all want to see is the production. Cowboys can protect themselves by cutting pay and yet give Ware the chance to prove he is still a top player. I'm not sure Ware would do for it

Because its better than paying him to play against us....and then paying his replacement

That's twisted. With the savings we will replace him and another position with the money saved.

How? He has to be a June 1st cut or there aren't any savings. By the time June 1st hits most, if not all, legit DE's will be signed. Plus there will still be about 4 million in dead money so even if you do find a good DE to sign in June we're going to end up breaking even at that $7 or $8 million a year cap hit I talked about getting Ware down to.

If we weren't committed to winning now or had a 1/2 decent d line already I would have no problem cutting Ware June 1st and be done with it, but I don't see how it benefits the team this year to completely cut ties with him. I see a pay cut as best case scenario for both parties.

You are seriously misinformed about the cap hit. Dallas saves this year $7.3M if we cut him pre 6/1. If we cut him post 6/1 we save over $12M, but push some cap hit into 2015.

If ware isn't willing to take a 50% paycut, you cut him. He's just not worth paying12 mil. Draft his replacement or find another George selvie stopgap player. This rebuilding process will take longer than one offseason.

the 11.5 sacks in 2012 isnt bad but he only had 2.5 the last 8 games. same with last year. i believe he had 4 in th e 1st 5 games and then 2 the rest of the year. that says when healthy he can still do it. but thats the issue he hasnt been healthy the past 2 seasons. coming off back to back offseason sugerys added with his age isnt a good sign. players dont get healthier as they get older. if he doesnt take a cut to match his production he needs to be cut.

I thought you were a Romo guy?

He's still an above average QB.

I use to like Newman, if you can't get it done anymore and you start hurting the team(Romo's contract, and late game hiccups) then you need to go.

I'm Cowboys 1st, players 2nd.

It was disturbing at times. He even lacked that one monster game where he would abuse a bad offensive tackle. You have to hope it was the injuries.

I remember Broaddus just going off on Ware on Talking Cowboys one afternoon when Ware went up against a scrub tackle one-on-one basically the whole game and just got owned.

I think I was Bushrod who totally owned him, Broaddus was like in disbelief that Ware got shut down by a scrub.

I get the point... and I do somewhat agree that he should take a paycut. But if he doesn't (and personally he shouldn't) we shouldn't cut him. Because when healthy he can get it done. Maybe with a better DL around him and actually having the surgery this year... he can stay healthy?

He has never made more than 7.8m as a base salary. Why should they all of sudden pay him 12.75m? It's not really even a pay cut if he never made that much. His base salary was 6m last year.

Calm yourself unlike you, I don't sit on here 24/7.....

You think Ware is some type of god, and you still think he's great. Therefore you are blind

Clearly, you don't spend enough time on this board. That's rather obvious.

I have never said this. In fact, I encourage you to go back and read what I said about Ware in this thread.
