I can't stand a lot of things about the man. ;) His folksy analogies have become tiresome, though, especially when I see him buying coffee at La Madeleine's in his fur coat and $500.00 Ferragamo shoes.

He wears a fur coat? Someone tell PETA.

that was the direct quote from the interview? Really doesnt give much insight lol

I think some of that is a message to Ware and his agent that we want him here but we can't take on that contract any longer. If Ware wants to remain in Dallas he will have to take a cut if not then Ware will be playing else where.

Just watched his interview with Chris Mortensen and Susie Kolber and he sure sounded like Ware will most likely be cut due to Money, Age , injuries and Change in scheme. Looks like we have seen the last of D Ware guys.

or its part of the negotiation ploy. he is making him look bad, so that he may get a better deal or at least try to get a better deal. if he says, we love ware, can't do without him and he is great. what do you think ware's agent going to do?

We are still going to pay him more than anyone else too....If he restructures his total cap hit down to about $7or8M it will help the team out a ton and still be more than any other team will give him as a free agent. I find it really hard to believe the 2 sides won't come to some sort of agreement that is best for everyone.

Good teams get rid of guys a year early than a year late, you could argue it's a year late as it is. If Jerry cuts Ware he might actually be learning and maybe this McClay guy has more influence than we think???

In a restructure Ware still gets every penny and while a short term that could help it does not change the fact that the money will get pushed into the following years. I don't see it being a good move unless he is willing to take a Pay cut

Yeah wrong word....just a straight pay cut to 7 or 8 million total. I agree that restructuring Ware is only prolonging the problem

One down year does not a career make... I think this would be a bone head move. He would get picked up so fast by a 3-4 team and probably dominate.

He was producing well early in the year in the 4-3... (i hate the move to the 4-3 btw) I don't think you just scrap a player like Ware this quick!

no they can't. He literally counts half the amount over the cap. They can't restructure-cut everyone else and count the other half plus his half.

Actually, I forgot about the salary cap increasing to around 130M. At that amount, they would have a good bit of cap space without touching the contracts of Ware or Austin.

Yeah I think that would be do'able but I have major doubts Ware will want to do it. I think if he checks out medically there will be teams willing to take a chance on him and pay him on a 3 or 4 year deal. I love Ware I just don't think for the Cowboys it is a risk they can afford to take. I hate saying that but just the way I feel

It is not just 1 season 2nd half of 2012 Ware was almost useless on the field as this shoulder and neck continued to give him problem. I commend him he was on the field playing pretty much with 1 arm but his play was not good. This past season again he struggled. I don't dislike the guy at all but given how much he is paid if he can't get back to where he was then Dallas is paying out big money with little production.

The fact that a barely functional Demarcus Ware will be starting on our dline next year is a testament to our perennial mediocrity.

Ehh I seriously doubt that. I could see some team giving Ware like 2/$12M, but not much more. Unless its a long term deal with very little guaranteed $, which wouldn't make much sense for Ware either.

This is how I feel, but because its Ware we're speaking about, and I've had some similar nerve issues. Ulnar nerve entrapment can make you arm go numb and impact your neck/shoulder on that side of your body. If they re-position the nerve as they said, I have a feeling he will be the monster you saw in camp and the few 3 or 4 weeks. His legs are still there from what I can tell.

Count me in the group that says we should keep him and see what happens next year.

I've been in the camp suggesting that we cut DeMarcus Ware since before the the season ended.

The reality is that he is a ballast weighing down the defense with contract and lack of production. Cutting him opens this defense up to all sorts of new realities. Moving forward with an entirely new defensive line will be like a breath of fresh air to these team that has struggled for years to consistently pressure the quarterback.

By cutting Ware and focusing this draft on the defensive line, we're giving this team a chance to move forward defensively where we have been stagnant for years. If some of are more experienced youth can step up, this defense can turn the corner pretty quickly with a new defensive line.

A lot of people told me that Jerry would never cut Ware, and yet here we are looking at the obvious. His contract is an anathema to our desires of winning football games.

While i think he is serious. I think Jerry is more trying to get Ware to take a paycut. Get his caphit to around 8 mil. Ware wont make 8 mil in the open market. Players tend to fall in place when a owner takes a stance and lets it be known you will probably be cut. Im sure Ware's agent is calling right now to get a feel on what teams think Ware's value is right now. And if its not over 8 mil we will see in the near future an announcement of Ware taking that paycut.

Id rather have Ware in 2014 for 8mil then that 8 mil just being dead money

agreed. If I am going to get a taste of the unknown I much rather have it on new and young players that make the future nucleus of this team
