While i think he is serious. I think Jerry is more trying to get Ware to take a paycut. Get his caphit to around 8 mil. Ware wont make 8 mil in the open market. Players tend to fall in place when a owner takes a stance and lets it be known you will probably be cut. Im sure Ware's agent is calling right now to get a feel on what teams think Ware's value is right now. And if its not over 8 mil we will see in the near future an announcement of Ware taking that paycut.

Id rather have Ware in 2014 for 8mil then that 8 mil just being dead money

To get Ware down to an 8 million dollar cap hit, he would have to take a reduction in pay of 8 million dollars. His current base salary is 12.25 million dollars. Doing the simple math that would mean taking a base pay of 4/25 million.

I think it is likely he could probably find that on the open market, certainly if you consider signing bonus.

Just watch.some of you people are going to be shocked when NEor GB or some playoff team pick him up. and he will have an outstanding year, and help that team maybe get back to a Super Bowl.while the great Romo leads us to another 8 and 8, or 6 and 10 season. it's going to be epic.

wow....great crystal ball! Sure that's possible because teams like NE, Frisco and GB have the players AROUND Ware to help him.....we do NOT right now and his cap hit is crippling. Why is that so hard to understand?

And then you need to look at Ware's 13 million a year contract moving forward, and it becomes obvious that you should move on. He is only going to get worse, not better. Why load down this defense with his contract, it makes no sense. The guy has done nothing in the last two years to warrant continuing to pay him so much.

This is how I feel, but because its Ware we're speaking about, and I've had some similar nerve issues. Ulnar nerve entrapment can make you arm go numb and impact your neck/shoulder on that side of your body. If they re-position the nerve as they said, I have a feeling he will be the monster you saw in camp and the few 3 or 4 weeks. His legs are still there from what I can tell.

Count me in the group that says we should keep him and see what happens next year.

I'd really like to agree with you. His contract situation needs addressed however and that might mean his future playing days will be with another team.

you think a team is going to give him 4.25 mil base and 3.25mil signing bonus for this yr with that 500k workout bonus? Considering his injury issues the past few yrs? I dont.

It's continuing to sound like, to me, that they are getting ready to move on from Ware.

It's starting to sound that way. Jerry said a few days ago the legs are the first to go and mentioned the amount of practice time Ware has missed. He went on to say Ware is being paid like the best player on defensive and he made it pretty clear that he doesn't want to pay him that kind of money anymore. Ware is going to have to take a pay cut to have any chance of returning.

You realize the cap doesn't work like that right?

He has already been paid his prorated signing bonus. The 4.25 million need only be a combination of base salary and a new signing bonus...

Jerry should simply offer Ware a new contract structured EXACTLY like the cap hit the team will take on if he's cut June 1st.

I believe Ware is signed til 2017.

The last two(16-17) may be voidable years.

If Ware accepts a deal like Suggs took, it may be do-able. He took 4yr/24m, but it was essentially 2yr/16m guaranteed. If Ware agrees to that deal, it would lower his cap from 16m to 7.7m this year and from 17.5m to 9.7m in 2015.

The thing with Ware is that it's not really a pay cut. He has never made more than 7.8m as a base salary and made 6m last year. If you add the signing bonus of 20m he got in 2009, that rewarded him for his past play as much as his future play, he was averaging around 8-10m in his prime. He was never going to get 13m a year, unless he was still getting 20+ sacks.

A compromise is the best for everyone if Ware's agent doesn't get in the way.

It is not just 1 season 2nd half of 2012 Ware was almost useless on the field as this shoulder and neck continued to give him problem. I commend him he was on the field playing pretty much with 1 arm but his play was not good. This past season again he struggled. I don't dislike the guy at all but given how much he is paid if he can't get back to where he was then Dallas is paying out big money with little production.

I agree, but cutting a PROVEN player on our thinnest position doesn't seem like the way to go. I would be more apt to do it if we had a young player behind him we felt optimistic about, but, WE DON'T!!! We have nothing their and Ware has Proven to be to good to just cut after a down second half of an injured season.

I'm not going to rip on Ware as some will, I like the guy myself I'm more concerned of paying out big money for little production when that money can be used to add more players to the DL.

They all do. Or so I heard.
It is true. They all do. Unfortunately, Jerry Jones makes himself far more accessible to the media and yacks at every microphone pointed in his direction.

It's a pipe dream, but I hope that some day the media will force Jones to get himself a twitter account. Perhaps stick 50% less microphones in his face. Then, the inner narcissist in him will be motivated to secure other ways to get the same volume of messages out to the masses.

Then again, I don't tweet. Jones may already have twitter followers for all I know. :)

It all depends if Ware wants to stay. If he does, he has to agree to a new deal. If he insists on getting 12.75m, with or without a restructure, then he has to go. The money saved by cutting him can be used to sign his replacement and then use the draft to groom some new guys.

I think the best deal for everyone is a new 2yr/16m deal, but I'm not the one signing.
