So it really made sense to sign the QB? lol Then I guess you can throw the next coach right under the bus also. Just run him over in the parking lot before he gets started. This front office is really a joke. Even after the most ridiculous offseason you can possibly put together, they are going to continue on with the same strategy. They don't care at all about the players, the fans or winning!

….and the media is not allowed to question it if they want to continue to put food on the table.

Honestly this might be Jerry acknowledging some level of buyers remorse over the QB. I might be looking too much into his comments, but if he elects to not restructure Dak this offseason it makes it very possible to move on after the 2025 season.

We can only hope, but I doubt this very much. Jerry is a stubborn mule. He'll hang on to Crap Prescott for dear life right til the bitter end. That's how he operates.

They really think people are so cap ignorant that they can continue to tell fans the same thing every offseason.

Sorry, Jerry and Stephen, your fan base and the media are onto you. The blame for 2024 is squarely on your shoulders for doing zero in the offseason. Just like 2025 will be squarely on both of you once you pull the inactive offseason in 2025.

Don’t even really need to do that as the cap figure on big contract are typically low in year one.

They just choose not to. It’s an excuse for not being qualified to be an actual GM and know the players around the league.
Yeah, was just showing that they have many levers to pull and refuse to do it

Sad that Jerry would stoop to threats when questioned about how bad he sucks at his job. That's where this team is at. Then sprinkle in his moron kid as if it couldn't possibly get any worse.

It is an awesome advantage to have a productive QB that is still in their rookie contract. Washington should enjoy it while they can.

I know San Francisco is, for a while at least, as is Houston.

Either that or they can’t figure that out.

I don’t believe that. I just think the kid wants to avoid a bad cap situation when he takes over, and is cheap by nature.

Doesn’t really care about winning, just doesn’t want bad seasons…which are inevitable anyway.

They just aren’t good at this. Period.

The difference is the niners will give Purdy 61 million and they will still figure out a way to sign FAs. How can that be? that's a mystery known only to Cowboy fans.

but jerry, that BS doesnt' sell. every team does it. you go ALL IN, but you actually aren't. other teams do and they manage future years then. you are managing the 26, 27 and 28th caps....and sacrificing 24, 25 seasons. then in 26, you manage the 29, 30 cap and sacrifice 26....next year never comes.

You heard it if you pay the QB there is no way any team can ever afford to pay anyone else.

I am wondering if the Cowboys are really worried about 2026. Right now, the Cowboys have only 20 players under contract for 2026. Of course they will have more after the 2025 offseason after signing draft picks and free agents. But Dak and CeeDee alone are due to count $100MM against the CAP already. Diggs is another $20 million. I will assume Micah will get a new contract and probably add another $20 million. According to over the CAP, Zack Martin is also going to count $17 million but if he retires that could go to zero if the Cowboys take his entire CAP hit in 2025. But I am sure if they can they will take it in 2026.

I think they are already handcuffed in 2025 with Dak counting about $90 million against the CAP. I would advise against it but my guess is the Cowboys will restructure Dak in 2025 to bring that CAP number down. He is due $47 million in salary so it would be easy to convert some part of that to bonus and spread it out over the next 4 or 5 years and reduce his CAP hit by $25 million. In any case, any restructures they are planning would add to the 2026 problem.

The fact is, when you pay your QB $60 million per year, and you already had money pushed into voided years of his previous deal, it makes things difficult.

Of course if they really wanted to go all in they could have and dealt with the problem later. I would be fine with that had they actually achieved success. But we have to be honest. CAP room doesn't mean anything to Jerry because he does not plan on spending it to help his roster.

Jerry is already laying the groundwork for another offseason of inactivity due to cap constraints, while other teams will continue to spend money to improve their teams. At any rate, looks like 2025 will be another year of mediocrity…

Who does he think he is fooling?

I don’t mind punting on a season if it means being a part of a plan to have a better shot to win moving ahead.

But two? That’s essentially a rebuild in this league. If you’re going to do that, do it properly. Trade vets for future picks, etc.

These two are all over the map and have no plan. It’s seems to be about taking half measures with two situations. Probably due to the multi-GM thing….you get your way this time, I get my way next time.

Let's hope for three straight blowouts. Maybe the embarrassment will be enough to stave off another 3 yrs of this slop
That is really true!

This team plays a decent game and Jerry, and half the fans, think this team is ready to kick butt in the playoffs.
Getting our butt kicked the last 3 games may be the only thing that wakes stupid Jerry up.
