Jerry on RB-"how we get there may surprise you" *Merge*

I usually expect the opposite of whatever JJ says
You mean like when he said "I can get Barry Switzer?"

Or perhaps when he said, "I'll match any offer for Garrett."

Maybe when he said, "I'll bring a Super Bowl to Dallas."

Or it could be when he said, "TO will be on this team in 2007, no doubt."

You're right, he contradicts himself all the time.

you mean like hiring parcells? or was that not a suprise to you?
Bigg?
TO?
Hamlin?
Garrett?

oh how i love blind bashing.

Do you really want me to go into what I mean?

this statement is intiguing for all the possibilities that may lie under his words for what the Boys will do as MB's backup next year...if not drafting one of the blue chippers in this years draft (and assuming not picking up a 'cheap cut' from another team ala Dashaun Foster), than maybe converting Deon Anderson or Stanback to RB or something along those lines?...
thoughts?

I'm thinking possibly a trade here.

Frankly, we have several players right now that are good but possibly expendable..such as the logjam at LBer and I think there are possibly a couple of teams looking at unloading some RB and getting one of those #1 picks we have for him.

It's occurred to me, especially if you look at that list of running backs that are near being re-done on their contracts within the next year. Seattle's RB has been mentioned as possibly being up for trade and a couple of others.

And the worst part is that the word 'trade' was mentioned.......

Like anyone would want to take on that stiff's contract!

How about an outlandish trade with Atlanta that nets us not only #3 overall and DeAngelo Hall but Jerious Norwood as well. Coakley, err I mean Carpenter would probably have to be part of the trade but I'll let Jerry worry with the final details.

The only reason to move up to #3 overall would be to get DMac. As much as i would like to have him, the cost both financially and picks/players we have to give up would be too much in my opinion. Also, the backfield will be a bit crowded with MBIII, DMac, and Norwood, not to mention Alonzo Coleman.

I have said this before but i like Norwood a lot. If we can somehow get him without giving up too much in the process, i would be a very happy man. I think he complements the Barbarian very well.

just say jones sucks and let's fast forward to the ending.

Really? And miss out on all of your insightful, mind-numbing commentary?

I wondered the same thing when I read that quote but I perhaps was thinking it meant via FA...Truth?...I'd rather our high picks went towards other needs than RB.

A columnist wrote a few years ago that "In the painting of the poker-playing dogs, Jerry is the one wagging his tail."

:laugh2:

There's never a dull moment with Jerry. I don't know why he feels the need to say this.

That is a class line I must borrow for my sig....

What would shock me is if Parcells wanted to send Ronnie Brown here for a cheap price.

It wouldn't shock me at all........

The surprise?

I think we're going to draft Peyton Hillis, the one Arkansas RB/FB that no one has linked to us all offseason. Dallas has shown a good deal of interest in him, he's a versatile option who would fill multiple roster spots (RB, FB, ST) and can be taken rather late.

We'd still take a "speed" back too, someone like Chris Johnson who could contribute as the "complementary" back, as a receiver split out in the slot and as a kick returner.

That's it, I'm callin it.

Dumb question, but who is Peyton Hillis? I watched a few Ark games this year and don't remember him at all? I do think Johnson out of ECU would be a nice change of pace with MBIII.

oh don't worry - i've been told that once you fully grasp what most 6th graders do with ease, i'm a lot easier to understand.

Maybe the RB surprise is M. Turner - I am sure Wde wouod love to have him aboard and what a duo that would make!

You're on drugs. With Barber being resigned, Turner probably wouldn't even field a phone call from the Cowboys. He wants to be the starter. Not sit behind another RB like he did with the Chargers.

At this point, with a draft class this deep at RB, I don't see it happening. Especially since he is going to want starter money.

This is what I was going to point out. The main reason he wants out of San Diego is cause he wants to be the man for the team he signs with. He will not get that here.
