A couple of his lines stood out to me that Jerry said...

1. There hasn't been a team win the Superbowl with the leagues leading rusher since we did it.

2. We've had Zeke for 3 years and we didn't win a Superbowl.

He also said that they think they are better prepared to attack teams through the air when they take Zeke away. (That's is actually embarrassing that an NFL team wasn't more prepared for this anyways)

Jerry is dug in right now so whatever leverage anyone thought Zeke had by sitting out it doesn't seem to matter to the team.

Edit: He was on Ben and Skin BTW.. I should probably mention that

1 is incorrect and 2 has nothing to do with Zeke other than he played on the team.

I don't think the holdout really is playing hardball and all this will be water under the bridge in a few days. But Zeke's agent fired the first shot when they held out of camp, they can't complain about rounds coming back at them.

I agree 100% but we don't know what triggered the holdout and I'm not saying I agree with but like I've always said, every story has two sides. But what's interesting is yes Zeke is holding out complicating his extension but what about Dak, Coop and Jones. They're in camp busting their azz but they are still in the same boat as Zeke.......waiting for their fair deal. So my question, can ALL four players and their agents be greedy and/or unwilling to play fair. I'm not sure but it's odd..........THIS is why I'm calling Stephen to mat a bit. Remember just a couple/few years ago he notoriously known for low-balling players. Interesting you don't hear one word of that now..........IDK but in the famous words of our own Emmitt Smith, a leopard doesn't change his STRIPS (lol).

Holding out is plenty hardball. And of course Jerry doesn't want to play the Giants without Zeke, but his agent isn't asking for top three money (for now), he is asking for clear best overall money. Over the course of the contract that amount of money could be the difference between signing or losing a guy like Byron Jones or Amari Cooper.

I don't see it that way at all. He's reportedly been offered Gurley $s. What's another 5 mill overall on top of that? Chump change.

Just trade Zeke for Clowney. Imagine dlaw,m. Collins,Clowney and Quinn all at once......yes please
They would never do it but the team would be better. Since Clowney is a free agent, I would ask for a second round pick. I would also let Clowney go in free agency next season.

Dak has made a crap load of money off endorsement deals and then the goes on record saying he will not give a hometown discount. How is that "respectful"? He could have and should have kept his mouth shut. Zeke has lead the league in rushing, Dak has been a second tier QB and he's demanding top money and telling the media, no hometown discount? C'mon! I like Dak, but Zeke deserves his money more than Dak.
Sorry, Coach, you know I love ya... but at least Dak has shown up to play every time in the playoffs. Zeke has not. Zeke is a phenomenal runner, but he proved during the Rams playoff loss that he is no Walter Payton or Emmitt Smith to where those beasts used to come through and convert key first downs or TDs when it mattered most. Not Zeke. Zeke showed he needs very good blocking and some open holes to come through for the team. Doesn't sound like someone who deserves top overall league pay.

Zeke will play when Jerry gets his checkbook out.

When we start losing games, he will pay.

You're probably right. He did the same with Emmitt...but Emmitt did help lead us to the SB the prior season.

Feeling better and better taking Pollard in my draft league in round 13.

I wish Jerry would just STHU. I am more on his side than Zekes but he could do well by shutting up.I guess this is all part of it. Run your yapper to the media
I love it. The NFL is entertainment and boy is this entertaining. I love that he says whatever he wants. It's fantastic

When they pay Zeke #1 money, then it’s fair.

Nope. Elliot is too irresponsible
looks like that guy who wants 40mill will get his chance to prove it. Should be interesting watch.

As much of a d bag as elliot is this may be a blessing. This could prevent us from having to pay a ridiculous amount to dak. On the other hand its another year of our top guys wasted.

He’s the owner and the GM of the most valuable franchise in the world. He has made this team as valuable at it Is by doing exactly what he is doing. Why should he shut up? This is a ton of media exposure for the Cowboys. Regardless of how it turns out, everyone in the sports world is talking about The Cowboys. This is the genius of Jerry Jones. By talking, he has taken every bit of Zekes leverage and threw it in the trash. The fans are on Jerrys side. If the Boys beat NY without Zeke, the Zeke hate will grow expediently. At that point Even if he does sign, Fans will never support him like they have.

Good chance Jerry picks up a cap casualty and gives him Zeke's checks. I can see Jerry withdrawing his offer, and saying he'll wait til Zeke decides to come back and play on his original contract.

If nothing else, all the drama will draw eyeballs, and Jerry is an entertainer first.

If Jerry believes all that then why draft Zeke 4th overall? Why offer to make him the second highest paid RB while he's holding out?

Sounds like he's rationalizing given those actions.

I don't think Jerry is flinching this time

"Honor contracts"

That's drawing a line in the sand. Or at least pretending to.

I think elite RBs are getting screwed by the CBA, and see it as reasonable negotiating for an elite RB to holdout on is rookie deal. Zeke is a little iffy in that regard, as he is compensated as the 4th pick, which make his yearly cap hit one of the highest for RBs already.

Both sides have reasons to dig in. We'll see. The fur flies if Jerry picks up a credible vet cap casualty to pair with Pollard.

Never boring!

The play of Pollard may have Jerry thinking the Cowboys may be fine just waiting for Zeke to come back to get his accrued season. Not entirely unreasonable if we pick up a decent cap casualty RB to pair with him.

I wasn't in the room obviously but all the agents seem to be asking for the moon. Zeke has a good argument for top three money but his agent is asking to be the clear cut highest paid. The agents for Dak and Amari were smart to let the market set with contracts like Wentz, but they are still asking for above market money. I've said this before but I think Zeke's holdout is more about him wanting to skip training camp than any real animosity.

Also when was Jerry known for low balling people? He handed out big money extensions left and right, some like Tyron Smith turned out well, some like Crawford and Miles Austin turned out poorly. The only guy he "low balled" was DeMarco Murray. That was clearly the right move and even then they were offering him something like 7 Million per season before Philly gave him a crazy contract.

Talent matters in this league. Anyone who doesn’t believe we are not only a better team with Elliott but a more serious contender must have other agendas? Lol
