Thinks Tony will be back in time for OTA's and says it's too early to invest a high draft pick in a qb. Said he's gone through this before with Aikman so he's experienced and He thinks Romo still has a long career ahead of him.

A long career of what ahead of Romo?

That's OK, Jerra.
YOUR SNUBBING OF A QB EARLY IN THE DRAFT IS VINDICATION THAT WE INDEED NEED TO DRAFT A QB EARLY IN THE DRAFT. IT'S NOT LIKE A DRAFTEE WOULD PLAY THE FIRST YEAR. HOW WILL YOUR REFUSAL TO DRAFT A QB LOOK IN 2-3 YEARS? IT WILL LOOK LIKE YOU HAVE NO FOOTBALL MIND, THAT'S WHAT.

We half learned now that the reverse of what you says is the best route.

Romo is 33 years old, is having back surgery and frankly, at times this year has looked on his last legs of a good career. What happened with Aikman was forseeable and yet Jerry never had a replacement ready. Not to mention that he fell in love with Quincy Freaking Carter.

Maybe not next year, but You have to start thinking about it. I don't really like the guys coming out this year anyway.

yeah, next year is a good year to draft a QB. If Romo can't go, let Orton be the guy next year, which will probably assure us of a top 10 pick to grab a QB.

Jerry is ALL In on Romo, 2nd biggest error of his GM career since dissing Jimmy... God help us...

Have to agree regarding Jimmy, but Romo certainly isn't the second worst. Let's see, there was Campo, there was Parcells, Quincy, T.O., Testaverde and many others.

An aging QB with who just had surgery on his back and Jones thinks Romo will perform at a championship level.
Get real.
It's amateur hour at Valley Ranch.

This is a fairly deep draft class for QB's ~ draft a QB and transition the team for the future.

Didn't Payton Manning have offseason back surgery?

I hated how Parcells came in here and turned the team around.

I think that Romo we all knew and most of us liked/loved is gone. It will be very difficult to do all the spinning, avoiding, running etc. that he has been able to do for the last several years. I think IF he is going to be here for the remaining years of his contract, we will need to improve the line play big time. Vintage Romo made an average line for the most part look good. If Orton had been our quarterback, he wouldn't have lasted the season with our line. In short, another Guard (or two) and perhaps a right tackle. Then concentrate on the defense and getting a non-fragile Dunbar back there as a change of pace back. At least I think most of our skill positions are pretty good right now for the most part.

I agree. I remember thinking several times during Romo's 4,000 yards 30 TDs pace season that this is a QB on his last legs in this league.

Well yeah 8-8 is greater than 4-12, I see your point lol

Stats don't tell you everything that your eyes see every game. Yes, he was having a really good season but He gets beat up every year and was missing throws he used to make easily.

Those stats tell me he was making enough to throws to put up elite numbers. Numbers that are consistent with his best years. I didn't see a drop off whatsoever.

Maybe I need my eyes checked. It's been awhile.

I think he is saying he learned from the Aikman decline on when a player is through or not.
Does not mean you have to believe him, but that is what he's saying.

Not in 2014 but in 2015 for sure. It will come whether Jerry likes it or not because Romo is getting old and he should now be viewed as a Top-5 Fragile QB in the league. You always have to expect him to get hurt every season

The whole formula changes dramatically.

Now..the question about whether or not you continue to rebuild this team with Garrett doing it or we start over with a completely new approach like the Iggles did with Chip Kelly and Nick Foles..

Is the question.

We are not going to beat the Iggles Sunday.

We are going to be exposed as not a playoff team and losing ground to the entire NFL as a Franchise.

We need help.

This is inaccurate. Jerry didn't say he wouldn't draft one early, but stated (paraphrasing) that it's too early to have discussions about it.

That makes more sense.

They have a big investment in Romo which is not going to be easily recovered.

Its going to have to play itself out.

Unfortunately as fans, there is no quick fix for what has happened.

Experience from the Aikman situation? Not sure if that breeds a lot of confidence.

You would think that experience would have Jerry thinking QB in the upcoming draft especially with Romo having just undergone his second back surgery in only 7 months. Aikman lost a lot of his mobility after his back surgery and according to him about 15 yards off his deep ball. Aikman's back is part of what retired him. Mobility/escapability is a big part of what makes Romo so effective and who knows if he'll have the same elusiveness after this surgery. I'm not saying draft a QB with our #1 pick but I wouldn't hesitate using a #2 on a QB if one warrants the pick.

I would rather use a #2 on a QB than keep wasting them on TE's that never pan out. If I was Jerry I would feel a little nervous right now with Romo who'll be 34 next season undergoing his second back surgery since May. If Orton doesn't play well on Sunday Night you can bet the Cowboys will have their eye on a QB during the offseason. They have to have a contingency plan in the event Romo has any setbacks and isn't ready to start the 2014 season.

See most people learn from their past experiences. Jerry doesn't seem to & it wouldn't matter anyway because he's a "football guy" & knows best.
For once..

Jerrah needs to just shut up and listen to what is being said about the situation.

For once..he needs to just stop with the false smokescreen and stop bluffing everybody.

He need to retire as the 'Sox and jocks' defacto coach and just be the owner..

...get some professional help, Jerrah.

Before its all too late.
