A big trade including a player like LF isn't likely to happen.

You guys do know that Michael Turner is going to be UFA after this season, right? And SD isn't going to franchise or transition tag him because it would cost them too much money for a backup RB. So why don't we let JJ go, re-sign Barber and sign Turner. Draft a WR and CB with our first rounders. I think the issue with our draft picks in the past when we were winning was that they were all busts. Stepfret and Sherman Williams didn't amount to crap, even when they could have played for other teams. So the problem was that they couldn't break our starting lineup, the problem was they couldn't break any starting lineup. I'm totally fine with drafting another CB, as long as he is good. The Eagles and Patriots draft for depth, but they good players that can take over for an overrated veteran.

I think by "wow" player, he probably doesn't mean a backup RB. Just a hunch.

No thanks to Turner and the salary he'll be asking for.

I'm not saying that he can't get a "wow" player, maybe a WR. All I'm saying is that if we stay put and don't trade up, then none of the RBs are "wow" players at that point with the exception of Slaton. So I could see us signing Turner and then trading up to Jackson. That would be more feasible then trading up to get DMac. I'd love to have Run DMC, but I don't see it being a real possibility. Oh, and it isn't like Turner is some scrub that can't break a starting lineup, freakin' LT is in front of him.

I know, just pointing out why everyone is bringing up the possibility of Fitz wearing a Cowboy uni next year

He's just telling people to be prepared... Stanback is about to make his entrance as a key to this offense, and not just running routes...

Jerry would be stupid to over-invest multiple picks (including two 1st rounders) in McFadden - especially when the position is much less an area of "need" than others (CB, WR, LOT - just as examples).

I don't think Jerry is stupid. Now, he used to be naive... but a decade of struggles and a fortuitous pairing with one of football's greatest "fundamentalist" minds (Bill Parcells) have helped him to reshape his thinking and become an asset at GM - rather than a liability.

I'd love to see McFadden next season but, given the price tag, I'm hopin' he's wearing another club's colors.

How about just making the active list on game day....

I wonder if Jerry will pay close attention to the Cotton Bowl game:rolleyes: ...Arkansas vs Missouri..It would be a great stage for McFadden to show Dallas his worth and I really don't see him going in the top 5.....IMO Jerry will probably address any defensive needs (CB) in FA and look to the draft to attempt the establishment of the triplets since he has 1/3 of the future in Romo.

We better not give away Spencer.

Not 'give' away, TRADE. Package of picks and players.

Especially if Jerry can get Jason Taylor included with Dolphin's 1st round pick.

Not a long shot if you are paying attention to what is going on in Miami.

TRADE:

Dallas trades:

2008 first rounder (not necessarily Cleveland's)
SS Roy Williams
DL Marcus Spears
LB Bobby Carpenter
DE Anthony Spencer
2009 first rounder
2010 2nd rounder

Dolphins trade:

2008 first rounder
OLB Jason Taylor
2009 4th rounder

=======

Dallas is trading youth and quantity to Miami which they are in dire need of PLUS Dallas is trading 3 (possibly 4) proven starters for ONE. 6 first rounders for 2, (if you consider that Taylor is the equivalent of one).

Ware, Taylor and Ellis would be much more effective than Ware, Spencer and Ellis and should be stellar for another 2 years, or 4. Draft another pass rusher to groom behind this QB killing triumphvirate.

I like Roy (a lot), but Hamlin and Watkins with be just fine with Ware, Ellis and Taylor terrorizing QBs.

Dallas can draft McFadden and a WR (although my preference is to woo Randy Moss to play opposite Owens and draft a stud CB).

There will be some pretty good WRs and CBs available in the 2nd. Corners like Reggie Smith or Rogers-Cromartie.

I'm kind of diggin' WR Adarius Bowman from OSU. He could be available to us. And I'd like a CB, too. If no top CB is available, I'd start looking for Roy Williams' replacement.

We also need to be looking to trade Bobby Carpenter to somebody for something we can actually use ....

I had to read this like seven times. I then went to the bathroom to check my pupils to see if someone slipped me a mickey...nope. I'm not insane...to my knowledge. That leaves few conclusions that don't involve you being drugged and/or insane. IMO, of course.

The way Jerry made that statement, it sounds as if he knows something that we don't. Like maybe he has already had some conversation with the Dolphins about a possible trade and what it would take to get the 1st pick should the Dolphins stay the course.

Then again, he just might have his eye on someone else.
