Hopefully the 'wow' pick will have nothing to do with those 2 picks - - - - Larry Fitzgerald.

Is Larry Fitzgerald a free agent- if he is throw the house at him- he is amazing and he could take Glenns spot- That would be a wow-

It is pretty clear that the weakness (if there is one) on this offense is the running game- is it the backs (probably) or the oline (maybe). Whatever it is we could use an upgrade there-

Did anyone catch this?
I was watching the pregame last night, and the 2 first round picks were brought up. Jerry said "we are looking at" or "we need" a playmaker on offense in the draft... Now hold on.. but look at our numbers this season.. 33 points per game, Owens Barber Witten Romo, strong oline, Crayton is a great #3 and is playing strong as a number 2... I think this spells the end for JJones and the beginning of D-Mac.

There's a thread about this somewhere - I'm too lazy to look.

Jerry's already got several "wows" on offense now namely Romo, TO, Witten & Barber and our entire OL sure qualifies. I can easily understand why he wants add another offensive "wow" either a RB or another quality WR. I'm just concerned Jerry will give up too much to get that "wow" offensive player (McFadden?). McFadden's probably a top 5 pick and we apparently will have 2 low first round draft picks which not nearly enough for McFadden. Now maybe there another player Jerry thinking of who won't cost so much in the draft. Or could he be thinking of a FA signing.

My worry as well. Jerry can be superficial. If he can get McFadden he probably will. And if McFadden can give us several years of productive running then I'd feel a little better. My question is this....is a star RB necessary in a pass happy NFL? I'd rather spin my bucks on a CB and maybe a safety. Actually I'd rather spin it on another OLB than a RB.

My suspicion is Jerry sees the value in a WR. Looked what TO has done for us. I don't even see TO as on the horizon of his career. It's what happened to TG that worries me. If he can go down so easily think what life would be like around here without him and TO. Scary. My money is on a WR if there is one and a CB.

I certainly do... I think you can make a case that four of the five starters (all of them except Kyle Kosier) are worthy of Pro Bowl appearances...

I'm wit you. I think Kosier is playing at the same level as well. He's very under rated IMO. But the rumor is he's a weak link so he'll never go...not for now. Colombo and Davis might go with Gurode and Flo esp if the Cowboys win it all and step up the running game as well. Esp the latter.

I'd say it would cost much, much less than that. And besides, we wouldn't have to move up from 32 to 1.

You never know whose going to have the number 1 and who that team will take. Miami, they could feed the trend and have a Brown/McFadden dual backfield. I think its possible.

I think Slaton and Felix Jones are just as "explosive" as McFadden, they just don't have the ability to be an every down, workhorse back. And luckily, we don't need an every down, workhorse back.

Seriously i think jerry wants an every down back.. while everyteam is different jerry wants to win superbowls not have good teams

His superbowls came under the triplets and possibly the best running back ever.

He has a formula he thinks can win

Strong Defense (probably not the best but we spent years building up to this point)
Shut down corner=TNEW(stolen Deon sanders)
A henry ( remember before injured this guy was the leader in interceptions
point is we don't need another CB we have great ones... now safety yeah would be nice to take roy out of coverage. PLus reeves has been very serviceable. So we don't need a starting CB we have two great , only reason is if you think means might play more receivers.

Strong Oline ( check or atleats more better with romo escaping pocket)

Franchise quality QB ( we finally got one)-Aikman-Romo

Start WR-irvin-to ( come on to and irvin or friends there is so a link here)

TE-Jay-witten( novichak was training this "kid")

So we have a stronger Oline, a sort of strong D( we could get better)
our star QB.WR.

what are we missing form the jerry era cowboy superbowl team..

Yep an everydown running back
Marion just isn;t an every down rnning back and jones.. isn;t living up to his first season after all he was a 2nd rounder ( remember tuna didnt get s jackson) Maybe the oline just isn't beliving in Jjones anymore whatever it is. Right now many want him gone and not starting

SO Jerry has to think if he can rebuild the team in the mold that he had that won superbowl with a young QB we will be set.

Go with you know works after all.

I say Jerry had planned for the browns pick to be higher and what GM wouldn;t think it would have. It backed fired on Jerry but Jerry is building a superbowl dominate team draft rder isn't stoping him from rebuilding an cowboy dynasty

Steve Slaton is a homerun hitter too and could probably be had without packaging the two #1's plus additional picks.

The cost to move up for McFadden may just be too rich for me.
Well it's a good thing Jerry owns the team and not you.. lol

LOL I don't understand why people continue to fight the DMAC thing? Je is comming. there is nothing any of you can do about it. Jerry hinted at that the same way he hinted at T.O. and everyone went nuts when he made his comments about T.O. saying he would kill the team and what not. OMG!!!! We are still going 2 years later?!?!? I think it is safe to say that jerry does not read these forums for advice on who to draft. It will be DMAC without a doubt and then when he becomes a stud you can all act like you wanted him from day one.

DMAC WILL BE A COWBOY! GET OVER IT!!!!!!!

I know Mcfadden is that, but he is a running back and i think we could draft a good one to replace JJ later in draft.I think we need a younger WOW reciever because Glenn will be done and TO is almost done in a couple.Im calling for FITZ!!!!!!!HE is the Shiznet!FA is the way to go for WR nowadays.

You act like Fitz will be leaving Cards after this season and that we have the inside track to sign him. His contract expires after 2008 season and only way to get him next season is to trade for him and that is if Cards wants to trade him, which they may or may not want to do next season.

There was a rumor a while back that he was unhappy with his role there and wanted to leave/be traded.
