They were signed by Jerry Jones.

He's the GM and owner. He signs the checks.

Romo was pure luck. He was a typical undrafted FA signing and mainly as a result of playing for Payton's former team. I think we got rather lucky with Austin too.

Funny how two of our best players were undrafted.

Undrafted at a time when Parcells was allegedly running our drafts, no less.

Austin is from New Jersey, afterall.

In 2008 Jerry started slipping dangerously back into pre-Bill mode: giving TO a very bad extension, trading top picks for a WR that had one good season, and bringing in characters like Pacman and Tank.

I also firmly believe that Jerry has since learned better. And I think he has evolved into a quality GM who runs a great organization.

I'll agree he is better, but then the bar was low.

I still think the jury is out on whether he is a "quality" GM now. One wildcard win in three years is still nothing to crow about, and he is as responsible as a GM can be for the disastrous 2008 season.

Ask me again this time next year.

Romo was at the bottom of the pecking order and when BP claimed Romo had Moxie after the Raider Pre-season game it was due to the fact Romo changed the play that was called and we ended up scoring. Romo is where he is because he worked his tail off and made the most of limited oppertunities.

Jerry shoehorns Pacman right back into the starting lineup the day he comes off his suspension for fighting again.
