All I know was he was an undrafted free agent

Ya, scouts weren't flocking to California State Polytechnic University in those days:laugh2:

This is just further proof of how completely and utterly idiotic the Commanders fanbase is

The only reason this is a good hire in their eyes is because they made it. If Dallas had hired a nobody from nowhere like Zorn, Washington fans would devote an entire month of the offseason to laughing it up and telling everyone what a dumbarse hire it was.

They see everything through burgandy and gold glasses. You'd think by now, after a decade of incompetance and idiocy, that they would see through Danny Boy's hires/signings as nothing more than desperate attempts to keep his investment afloat, and yet every season, without fail, Washington is destined to be the best team in football "next year". There hasnt been a season since he got here Skisn fans werent predicting 13-3 seasons.

Oh well. It's fun to watch you morons constantly get knocked off your high horse so abruptly

I agree.

It is funny on how Zorn was never mentioned for the HC position by Commander fans but now that he gets it, the fans think it is a great hire.

No, he was undrafted. The only Seattle trades i remember were Tony Dorsett:bow: and Joey Galloway:bang2:

I think Zorn could be a very good coach in the NFL (*ducks while fellow Cowboys fans throw blunt but messy small objects*). I was hoping that they would hire Fassel. We'll have to see how this one plays out, but at the least it means two WCO in the NFC East now.

Ahhh, so I can get back to hating Mosley. That's better.:)

Ya, Sando just got out on work release from the Maryland House of Correction. There are rumors he's staying at little danny's house but those are just rumors. :)

So how exactly is Fassel worse of a hire?

Fassel was an ugly hire compared to the dreams of Bill Cowher, Steve Mariucci and others I have seen that pathetic rabble of fans cling to over the last month.

There isn't much appeal to Zorn other than the fact that some Commander fans can pretend he's going to be successful because they were told so.

Has Zorn ever been anything other than a position coach?

From Wikipedia:
After his playing career concluded, Zorn returned to college football as an assistant coach. His first stop was at Boise State University, where he was the quarterbacks coach from 1988–91. Zorn then served as the offensive coordinator for Utah State from 1992-94; and the quarterbacks coach for Minnesota from 1995–96.
Zorn moved up to the pro coaching ranks in 1997–98 as an offensive assistant for the Seahawks under Dennis Erickson and the next two years (1998–2000) as the quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions. He returned to the Seahawks in 2001 as their quarterbacks coach, and retained that position through the 2007 season.

Not sure how you are coming to this conclusion. There was a two hour special on Commanders Radio up here and the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. The reaction on ES is similar.

Most Skins fans are just happy that the search is over. I was on ES last night and saw quite a few people wanting Snyder to hurry up and hire someone and get it over with so the team could just move forward.

No matter how Skins fans want to spin it, this is a bad hire. We're not talking about some young, bright, energetic, up and coming assistant. We're not talking about some assistant coach that is mentioned in all of the head coaching vacancy talk every year and is just passed up for more experienced coaches. No, we're talking about a 55 year old, never mentioned, career QB coach. If he's such a good coach, he'd be the one who is the "coach in waiting," to take over the Seahawks job in 09 instead of Mora. Just take a look at his coaching resume.

Offensive assistant/quarterbacks coach at Boise State from 1989-91.

Offensive Coordinator at Utah State from 1992-94.

Quarterbacks coach at the University of Minnesota from 1995-96.

Offensive assistant for the Seahawks in 1997.

Quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions 1998-00.

Quarterbacks coach for the Seahawks from 2001-08.

Hmmm, that's 19 years of coaching experience and 17 of them have been as nothing more than an offensive assistant or QB coach. Only the mighty Utah St. Aggies felt that he was anything more than that. Yeah, ok. Nice hire Skins fans.

I'm surprised but that's about all I'm feeling. He's an unknown, so it's difficult to say whether this is a good or bad hire. I'm just happy it's not Mooch.

When I got on here, I really really genuinely was wondering what you thought about it. I can see by all the other posts asking...that others also cared what you thought about the hire.

Oh wait...nobody cares what you think about it because nobody cares about you or the irrelevant franchise that you cheer for. In fact, we are all laughing at you because your favorite team just went from being classified as "garbage" to "nuclear waste".

Now go cry, and then go back to the ES website with your tail between your legs and ask them take you back.

Very ironic.

Wait until the Redskirts start off 0-2 or 0-3.

You mean like Andy Reid?

Zorn is older because unlike the other guys you mention, he actually played the game so he couldn't start coaching at 24.

Interesting point of view.

Zorn and Garrett both retired at the age of 34. Yet Garrett is only 41.

I thought he had Dallas ties also. Kind of a fog right now about it. Either he was on the Dallas roster and left unprotected for Seattle's initial draft...or he was packaged to Seattle in the Dorsett trade...or I just don't have any idea what I'm talking about...which is most likely the case.
