Brad Johnson will be 39 in September...Harrington is not a pathetic Qb but of course has his limits. Huard just resigned with the Chiefs so he is not an option. Wright would not be bad because of his mobility and I doubt if Rattey is let go by the Bucs.

Guys you are not going to find a Joe Montana with Steve Young as a backup situation. Thats why these guys are backups. If they were starter material then they wouldnt be available. You hope that you will not need the backup but if so Harrington, Wirght, or Rattay are very good backup options.

Who would you rather have a your QB? Rex Grossman or Joey Harrington?

Harrington did well in about 3 or 4 games this year, that's about all we would need from him in a worst-case scenario, if he comes w/ the right price tag, I wouldnt' mind it

then again, I wouldn't think twice about it if we didn't sign him

harrington would be fine in dallas as a backup. besides if im not mistaen dallas has better wr's to throw to then detroit and miami

Jake Plummer/Damon Huard/or Jeff Garcia

Plummer - will look for a starting opportunity
Huard and Garcia - will be paid too much by some desperate teams

Chris Chambers, Marty Booker and Randy McMichael is a good group to throw too, it's just Harrington isn't very good

Wright, I am not sure about. I don't think he would jump at the opportunity to return to Dallas where he was never really given a chance to compete in his last stint.

Wasn't it actually worse than that? I think Jerry was po'd at him because he had a knee surgery without the organization's blessing.

well i dont anticipate dallas needing him much anyways. romo seems to know how to stay away from the big hits. and avoid a big injury

I agree and Huard has already signed for like 7.5 mil for 3 yrs, so that starts the back up pricing...

Garcia will be more then that...

Harrington makes the most sense to me with the Garrett connection, and I think his price will be fine. May be in the 3 yr. 7 mil range, but I would be fine with that. Ain't my pocket book :laugh2:

I think Joey as a vet and great team player is a good fit here in Dallas...I'd be happy with him. He has a lot of game experience, and will not be our starter...if needed he would be solid.

I was here in Oregon when Joey played for the Ducks and he stretched the field as well as anyone. I think the down field game we play here is a fit for him.

I hope we sign him!

while i wouldnt be too upset with harrington as back-up QB, to me our back-up QB has 2 roles:

1. win a game or 2 in case romo cant go
2. be an in-game mentor/tutor for frome

i would rather not see a headcase with measurables like harrington and would rather see if we can get brad johnson. if we are thinking that we can rebuild harrington's image and maybe trade him next year, that is a different line of thinking altogether and not what i would view as the role for our back-up QB.

Joey Harrington is an alright QB. All I know is that if he were the Bears QB they would be Super Bowl 41 Champions.

Yes, the team was pissed because Wright elected to have season ending surgery. However, Wright's contract with the team was up at the end of the season. Wright told the team that he would put off the surgery if they would extend him for another year. All he asked for was the vet minimum and a chance to compete for the starting position the next season. The team wouldn't do it and that left Wright in a very questionable position. If he put off the surgery, he would not be healed for the next seasons training camp. Basically, he had zero guarantee that he would be allowed to compete with Carter, he had zero guarantee that he would even have a job or be healthy enough to get a chance with another team. He elected to have surgery. I can't say I would have done differently. IMO, that was a real poor way we treated him. There could have been more to it but if there was, it was never reported.

I would tell you but my decoder ring just blew up.

Harrington performed better than Culpepper last year IMO. I'd take him as a backup.

Miami must REALLY be hedging on Quinn dropping or they plan to take someone like Stanton in the top of the second.

Culpepper was not fully recovered, so Harrington beating him out was not a big accomplishment. The only credit I give to Harrington last year is that the o-line in Miami is terrible. He still is not a good QB. Good backup? Maybe. There is a lack of good quality starters in the NFL, so there is little hope to get a good quality back up. You just have to try someone. I prefer a younger guy with some experience and Harrington fits that part.

A "decent" option in my opinion. I guess we'll know what his former teacher Jason Garrett thinks of him pretty soon. Huard is gone, so our attention must be focused elsewhere. Should be interesting to see what we do. A vet is a must, along with a draft pick to compete with Baker. Four QB's must be brought to camp. Perhaps we can get brother Prophet's take on the situation.
