Good point! Someone will think enough of his skills to give him an opportunity.

Julius Jones - RB - DAL - Jan. 8 - 2:06 am et Potential free agent Julius Jones reportedly has zero interest in staying with the Cowboys beyond this season.
He wants to be a feature back, but will likely be disappointed after averaging a career worst 3.5 YPC in 2007. Jones would still be a nice fit in an offense that needs an explosive pace change. Arizona and Chicago make sense. Jan. 8 - 2:06 am et

Feature back lol
That's convenient, since the organization and 99% of the fanbase have zero interest in dude sticking around. Have fun disapponting the hell out of whatever team is dumb enough to pay you a dime, Julius.:laugh2:

what a coincidence, we'd love to have a feature back also.

No, seriously. The guy has skills. Bill thought so.

Wouldn't it be ironic if he signs with Miami.

Well if Wade has caught wind of this... and how could he not... just forget the pleasantries and start MB3 in the playoffs.
Ever think that Wade already told him Barb was starting, hence the comment. Just a thought

He will be a great fit for a team that needs a back that can consistently get the tough yard or two.

Julius is very consistent in ramming the *** end of his OL for 1-2 yard gains.

Extremely consistent ground gainer.

Julius "meh" Jones.

If he does succeed elsewhere, a lot of people are going to wonder what his problem was here. Too much of the good that he did was in seasons past.

I think its pretty obvious his career was done in Dallas.

I think he has a shot to be a legit starter elsewhere. But he will have to choose a team with a questionable RB situation (Chicago, for example) to get a legitimate chance of doing so.

I think he'll end up being a backup RB and possibly return kicks (obviously, he wouldn't if he goes to Chicago...but perhaps elsewhere). Jones returned kicks in college, I think he'll get some consideration for that as well.

Lets also not forget that his brother, Thomas Jones, didn't become a productive player until later on in his career. Maybe JJ does the same thing.

I never wanted Julius going into that draft. But after he came back from his injury and closed out his rookie year so strong, I thought I was wrong about him and it looked like we actually found something special.

I hate having to be right all the time.

+1, i remember him running hard, not easily taken down on the first hit. finding seems and holes to burst through. making cuts without losing speed.

now he just seems to run head first into a pile and fall down or get tripped up, do you remember him making a cut back run the entire year?

I think JJ gets too much abuse on here.

It's funny, but before Parcells started platooning the runners in Dallas, I never heard anyone complaining about JJ's style or his production. I'm not trying to defend him as a great back or say that he should get MBIII's carries, but back when he was getting 20 + carries a game, everyone seemed very satisfied with him, loved his potential, thrilled at the great runs and great games like he produced against Seattle, and only suggested we bring in a power back for short yardage.

Now the guy is getting 6-8 carries a game most of the time, and people seem to think he should be making something big out of it. In the past month, MBIII has done virtually nothing in the running game either, getting equally abused against the Commanders in that final game, yet not a word about it.

I'm ready to let JJ walk, but unlike most fans here, I'd still like to bring in a featured back with the speed and knack for going on the long runs rather than just see more of Barber. However, I won't be surprised at all to see JJ get on a team that gives him 20 carries a game and see him cracking the 1000 yard mark every year.

Wow .... there is not even a quote by JJ , yet everyone assumes he said this.

These are the same people (the media) who cannot even tell the difference between 6-7 Witten and 6-1 Romo.

Please people ...... be careful about crucifying one of our players over heresy.

I have been saying that for a while. I felt Jones would want to move on with a fresh start elsewhere and take on the lead role or at least have a chance at that role. I don't know how it will work out for him but Barber has established himself as the top RB on this team.

Shanahan will pick him up.
