Actually, Coach Parcells got the most out of him from what I see.

He's been an even bigger disappointment this year when he's allowed to do what he wants.

I wish I had kept score, but I am sure there are a few in this very thread who bought the "robot" theory, hook line and sinker.

You know who you are.

Bingo!

Julius Jones has been extremely average this year.

Productive is the very last word I would use when describing his play in 2007.

It has gotten so bad that alot of his carries have been "filler" carries, so that Marion Barber could rest.

He was never a proven back from day 1. From the day Bill Parcells traded down and took him in the 2nd Round to 2007.

His Offensive Line also featured 3 Pro Bowlers and Kosier and Columbo are solid.

JJ started out as a starter but lost his job due to ineffectivity but aside from losing his starting gig, he only carried 40 times less than MBIII and he has 2 measly TDs while averaging whopping 37 ypg in 16 games, nowhere near 700 yard marker. Far from being productive, imo.

Given same amount of carries, I wouldn't be surprised if TT can get 588 yards in 16 games.
Production is relative. He gained 700 in all purpose yards. As for his TDs, we know why that is. He very rarely sniffed the red zone in the last 16 games, so lack of opportunities has to be a factor.

I'm not saying he's a star in the making, but I don't think he's done as a running back in this league either.

For a split second, I was really hoping this was about the other Jones.

"Starter" be damned. I would think getting 600-700 yards out of a backup is productive.

Nope, Productive is getting at least 4-5 yards on First Down, and being able to convert third and Short.

Ask your self this 4th and 1 and you have to go for it, would you give the ball to JJ?? Thought so, id rather hand it off the Hambrick if i could

600-700 yards in a season you say? yea Rushing for 15-20 yards in the first half, and then 30-40 more in the second when your team has already blown out the other would get anyone 600 yards in a 16 game season.

Fact of the matter is, he sucks, if he goes to another team and Rush's for more than 1,100 yards than ill be damned, Honestly a Down with him is a wasted Down...unless your passing the ball...ill give the guy that he can catch now...and can help us in the passing game, but when you give the ball on 1st and 10 expect it to be 1st and 10 all over again, maybe 1st and 9

3rd and 1? Just have the punter or field goal kicker ready, he's just goofy, runs into his own guys, trips over his own 2 feet, you blow on him or put a finger on him, and he losses yards, then gets up and gets mad, and wants to fight the opposing team, the guy is a joke

I really get mad when he is in....

anyways good luck JJ, wont miss ya

Stop running to NFL.com and looking at the stats :D /jk.

In order to evaluate Julius Jones properly you must relie on what you saw in the games.

Stats are nice, but often times they can be misleading and there is no substitute for seeing a player in a game.

Julius Jones was not very productive this year.

Personally, I think he isn't getting oppotunities because of his ineffective running, but that's just me.

I don't think he is done as a RB either, but I question whether any team would want him as a feature back or pay him the feature back money, like he desires to be.

Julius Jones - RB - DAL - Jan. 8 - 2:06 am et Potential free agent Julius Jones reportedly has zero interest in staying with the Cowboys beyond this season.
He wants to be a feature back, but will likely be disappointed after averaging a career worst 3.5 YPC in 2007. Jones would still be a nice fit in an offense that needs an explosive pace change. Arizona and Chicago make sense. Jan. 8 - 2:06 am et

Feature back lol
That's convenient, since the organization and 99% of the fanbase have zero interest in dude sticking around. Have fun disapponting the hell out of whatever team is dumb enough to pay you a dime, Julius.:laugh2:

Wow.... I could understand his reason of not wanting to stay around since his carries have dropped the last two years. But to mention this before a huge playoff game kind of concerns me and quite frankly pisses me off.

How much heart you going to bring with ya JJ heading into the playoffs? I guess you had better shine if your wanting other teams to take notice. I know Barber will be ready but how about you?

Oh good riddance to ya and if you can manage to not let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya then your off to a good start already.

He better destroy the field right now in the playoffs or it could be an embarrassment for him, in the off season

You realize he ran for almost 1100 last year. Just saying.

My only point is that no matter how awful folks think he is, he'll be in the league next year. As a starter, I don't know.

Good point! Someone will think enough of his skills to give him an opportunity.

So why wasn't he productive here, this year?

I think he has been productive here. People want to downplay his ability because he is not Barber. He is what he is. A productive and reliable back that catches the ball well out of the backfield.

I can rely on both, though, Mike. On NFL.com, I can see that his numbers produced are in line with other backups. But I also go by what I've seen and I don't see him as garbage as some do. Yeah his average was down this year. Towards the end, I question his motivation as the year went on to go all out.

I don't think he'll get feature back money either, but with the salary cap, who knows what he could get. I could see him getting a 2-4 yr deal with a modest bonus.

The thing is, if he really said those things, and since he had that tantrum on the sidelines, other teams might not want to hire him; he might have a bad reputation now.
