Just a hypothetical, if we re-signed Dez, lost Murray to FA, signed Adrian Peterson to a team friendly contract, and worked a deal to get Josh Gordon, just think about how terrifying that lineup would look.

Remember this is a hypothetical and I'm only looking at talent so save the child abuse jokes.

You'd have to account for 2 STUDS at WR. Along with AP behind the best O-line in the league.

Our draft would be heavy on the defensive side and we'd have a healthy Lee, McClain, and Spencer returning, and Lawrence would have a year of experience under his belt.

Go ahead and roast away but don't tell me the thought of that isn't exciting!

Peterson and Gordon. what a PR nightmare. I can see us probably finding loopholes and putting in a marketing campaign behind signing Peterson. but for god's sake why josh Gordon? he failed the NFL drug testing policy three times. got suspended by his own team. he is not RKG and will ruin the locker room.

I would be fine with Peterson if he wants to pad his career stats more than he wants to get paid.

Gordon would lkely get suspended at some point. He would have to be content getting only slightly more balls thrown to him than T.Williams has this year. The Cowboys use the #2 WR to clear out defenders for Dez, and the underneath guys like Witten and Beasley.

They use their number 2 that way because their number 2 is T.Williams and not J.Gordon.

I can see why AP might agree to a short term deal. He wants to win a championship and he has the tools with this team. He's already gotten paid in the past.

AP and Murray are at two different points in their careers.

AP already got that 1 big contract most players hope for. Murray is hoping to get that now.

If getting a championship is his motivation, I can agree with your point. However, he can get more money from a different team so if that is his motivation, the Cowboys isn't the team for him. He has ties to Texas so who knows?

You won't see me complaining about going all in during Romo's last years.

And all those dismissing the idea would quickly change their tune if this happened. Suddenly Gordon would be an outstanding human being who is just misunderstood.

At this point going all in for Romo would be strengthening the defense. The offense is in place for his success, the only thing this team needs is some D help. The last thing we need is a troublemaker.

after this year, tony has 3-4 more years.

I'm tony's #1 fan, so I'll be honest here.

Whatever it takes to pile up as many wins in tony's final years, do it. I honestly dont care if we're crap at the bottom of the barrel for 10 years after tony leaves. DO IT.

Tony and Witten are guys worth mortgaging your future for to win now! Lets get some rings.

I don't want Dez Bryant anywhere near Josh Gordon. Josh Gordon s a poison to any team that signs him. He will find the weak links, exploit them, and drag the team down. He is that type of player.

I wouldn't mind at all if Suh and Gordon joined Washington:)

Depending on what happens with Murray, I would take a flyer on AP, strong work ethic, great player still; no drug/alcohol problem; his problem is his style of discipline with his child----not appropriate in this day and age.......Gordon I would not touch. I thought he would have learned, or as they say....matured, but guess not.

And I think AP has 3 or 4 good years in the tank running behind this OL, and one of those would not shock me if it broke Murray's record..

While fun in the world of fantasy football and Madden, I believe in building around weapons as little as I believe in building around cornerbacks. The game is won in the trenches, and I'd rather spend my cap dollars and draft picks on defensive linemen.

There has only been one running back at the age of 30 or over to gain more yards than Murray just put up this season. That was Tiki Barber who was barely used his first four years in the league reducing the amount of wear and tear on his body. Barber is the only running back at the age of 30 or over to gain more than 1700 yards in a single season. Peterson will be 30. Running backs at that age can still produce and contribute to their offenses, but history doesn't suggest that they will be record breakers.

Uhm, no thanks. Haven't we learned this lesson? Not sure what exactly is wrong now with how the O is constructed sans head cases...

Gordon is very talented, and very productive, but also very troubled. The production of Cleveland's offense went DOWN by over 50 yards per game, and they went 1-4 after he was activated. He's one strike away from a permanent ban from the league. The guy should be considered radioactive.

qFT....pass

As soon as you heard him speaking about how excited he is to be in Dallas you'd be slapping the poster up on the wall.

I'd be wondering how long before he screws up and gets suspended again leaving us in the lurch.

Not to mention the bashing Jerry threads that would need moderated.
