I hate to say it but Lloyd has no heart. I was sitting in the endzone seats last year when the '9ers played the Giants. The '9ers were in the red zone heading towards me. Lloyd ran a quick slant and all he had to do was streach out and reach for the ball and he had a touchdown. He alligator-armed it for an incompletion. I was never so disgusted in my life over a play. He makes the circus catches, but he doesn't want any part of the tough catches. All glory and no guts. In a tight game or if the Skins are trying to come back in the 4th qtr., he should be on the sideline. That is just my opinion.
He had a terrible case of alligator arms in their game against Chicago last year, too.

One thing you guys are failing to see with Lloyd:

Coaching. Gibbs has a knack for getting the most out of players like Lloyd. Time will tell, but most Skins fans are optimistic for this reason.

Any non-skin fan would recognize Lloyd was a very mediocre overall WR with some untapped potential. All that said he is clearly not a former 1st round pick like Santana Moss was and he doesn't offer special teams plays like Moss or Randel El.

The Skins would have been tons better had they added Keyshawn instead of Lloyd and then had twp small, fast WR in Moss, Randel El who offered special teams play and a chain mover and very good blocker in Keyshawn.

In the end the Skins upgraded at WR but its not like they didnt get production last season from the Moss/Cooley pairing and Lloyd/Randel El are going to be fighting each other for that 3rd pass catcher role. Whichever guy loses that battle is going to be heinously overpaid.

He certainly got the most out of David Patten. Seven starts, 16 catches, 178 yards, 0 touchdowns. That's great coaching.

Ouch...:lmao:

Hitting them with facts might not be the way to go though, you have to remember you're dealing with 'skins fans. You might be better off just calling them a doo-doo head or something and move on.

Let me just some up all of the Commander posts over the last few months:

Sean Taylor is the best safety in football that opposing coaches and players fear (and sometimes people on the street). He slightly edges out Archuletta who is the 2nd best.

Portis is the best RB of all time and should break the all-time rushing record by the end of the season.

Joe Gibbs is the best head coach of all-time heading up an all-star pit crew of coaches who has the Commanders running like a well oiled machine (that NASCAR sure comes in handy).

Brandon Lloyd was the biggest blockbuster trade of all time.

You acquired the ‘should have been’ Super Bowl MVP, Randle El and the best throwing WR of all time.

Brunell is the top QB in the NFC, but who cares if he goes down because Campbell is better.

Cooley is slightly better than Tony Gonzalez and should easily have 150 catches.

Santana Moss is the most dominant receiver in the history of the league. Jerry who?

So I ask the following:

1. Why aren’t you make plans for the parade?

2. Why aren’t you on a Commanders board discussion which team to trade your 32nd pick in next years draft?

3. Why do you come in here under the guise of making good honest debate when all of the above is absolutely true?

There you have it Commander fans. It’s just sitting there for you on a silver platter. Obviously with everything you guys have stated there is no reason to play the season. You have the perfect, flawless team and will likely go undefeated. There is no stopping you. There are no excuses for the Commanders not to win it all. Some may call you homers, but I say you offer peremptory opinions. See you on the field in 2007!

Hey, that's cool...I think he could have at least tried to get that ball. I wonder why he didn't??? ;)

My guess is, after he saw it was overthrown, he realized, "Oh ****!!!! I forgot my time machine today! There's no way I'm going to be able to travel back through the halls of time, in order to get an accurately thrown pass."

But that's only one theory.

Brandon Lloyd has never caught more than 48% of the passes thrown to him - regardless of QB.

And El, once promoted, put up a single TD, and caught only 50% of his passes.

Other than all that, I'd say the Skins are set for years. Because we all know how well the potential filled move of bringing in shrimpy David Patten in worked out for the amazing Gibbs. Why would we expect any less for these two?

I'm definitely taking a wait-and-see approach to Lloyd.

you're the only skin fan on here then

But metrics alone clearly don't tell how good a football player is. There are some things that can't be measured. ;)

can't measure potential alright ;)

He's been playing in an anemic offense the past 3 years, and put up decent numbers considering.

less than 800 yards is decent? and yeah, considering he was inconsistent

Sub-standard?

The jury is still out on both of them, for sure, but to call them sub-standard is just blind hatred because they are on the Skins.

yeah, the jury is still out, but like punk said, up until this point, they are mediocre receivers

jrockster77 said:
Lloyd wanted to leave the 9ers. Its not like he was begging Nolan to stay...he wanted out.

more like he forced himself out, his act wore thin for such a mediocre receiver

jrockster77 said:
The Steelers wanted to keep ARE as well, and Chicago really wanted him as well. He chose the Skins over 1) the SB champs and 2) his hometown. That says something...

you guys just overpaid for Randle-El, nothing more

They both had record-breaking seasons

really? what records did they break?

jrockster77 said:
with Cooley the only other option on the offense. Patten will be healthy, Lloyd will draw attention no matter what you think, and ARE is the x-factor. On TOP of all that, Saunders (you know, the best offensive coordinator in the game) is calling the plays now. Something tells me the Skins offense is going to be just fine. ;)

you got Moss, Portis and Cooley still, Lloyd and ARE are mediocre

Because great coaching makes players return from injury faster.
