I'll play along....is there a "player like Zeke" on someone else's roster that will be cut soon? is there a "player like Zeke" sitting on the couch waiting for his phone to ring? Not trying to be rude...but Zeke has pretty much been the NFL rushing champ for all 3 years he has been in the league. We have TRIED the "anybody can run behind this line"...that was Jerry looking for his ego to be stroked and his drafting acumen to be validated. How did that work out? Actually...I'll go back even further...Jerry has said 1 in 500 coaches could coach the Dallas Cowboys. And we have not been back to the Super Bowl...scratch that...the conference title game....since Jimmy Johnsons influence left the building! If it was so easy...we would have already done it. But since we have tried and FAILED...why do we need to see it again when the evidence is already in.
Anyone who thinks we have to have Zeke to make the playoffs is an idiot.

I really dont think they're idiot's but since you called the ones who do idiots, like myself, figured I call you and other's one. Lol not idiot's but putting way too much into a RB running behind the best, or top 3 at worst, OL. If a team has the highest paid OL in football and the highest paid RB in football, they're doing it wrong in today's NFL.
Our (Jason Garrett) offensive philosophy and Dak are the reason we need a RB like Zeke.

If we didn't have a QB and we had to go with the running by committee I could agree we would be average to below average. That's the great thing about having a franchise QB and Dak is a franchise QB. Are we better with Zeke, yes we are. Can we won a championship without Zeke, yes we can

That's crazy, we can win games, but we're not winning a championship without him.

Fans said they team would fall off if they didn’t re-sign Murray and things worked out. Let’s wait and see the young boys.

Murray was nothing like Zeke. Totally different

If we stay committed to the run we don't necessarily need Zeke. We just need to make sure we are running the ball 24 times a game to wear the defense down.

We need Zeke at the right price. That's what these negotiations boil down to. Specially when you have Dak and Cooper on the horizon. Then some very good players after them.

You do NOT give in to a player with 2 years left on their contract.
I'm the biggest Zeke homer on the board but no way do I cave to Zeke's demands.

We need Jay Ajai or LeGarrett Blount NOW,

We have no RBs on the current roster that is going to do anything close to what Zeke does,
I wanted Damien Harris out of Alabama in the third round last draft. We would be in much better shape now.

Zeke hasn't even held out an entire week yet. I have read where there continues to be "good" communication in terms of a deal and the only holdup is over how much guaranteed money he will get.

I have a feeling this gets resolved before August 6.

I'll see your "3 years" and raise you 1,845 yards for Demarco Murray in 2014 (Zeke ever do that?) and Darren McFadden being #4 in rushing in 2015, despite a late start and no quarterback.

There's a clear trend.
Whats the trend for paying Amari 17-21 million with only a 7 game sample?

This team aint making the playoffs without Zeke...…......anybody that thinks otherwise is an idiot.

No Zeke = No Playoffs

Zeke knows this, his agent knows this, and the Cowboys know this as well..............that is why a deal will get done soon
I’ll bet you $200 dollars we will

What choice do you have?
Let Amari play this season on his current deal which gives us a full season sample. If Amari balls out, we pay him next year which would make him the highest paid WR. I would feel more comfortable knowing that he gave me 23 good games of production.

If not? You let him walk after giving up a first round pick?

It doesn't die because its not a myth.
So we are 4-3 without Zeke, correct?

Extrapolate that out to 16 games. That's 9-10 wins, against a first place schedule.

Please tell me the last team to win 9 or 10 win team to pick top 12. JUST GIVE ME ONE!

If Amari does not ball out this year, I would not be inclined to make him the highest paid. I would try to sign him at market price for a receiver that is not top 5.

Wins and losses with Zeke in the line up can't be calculated that way. Zeke did his job in those losses. He for the most part has lead the league for all 3 years. Can't say that Amari nor Dak has lead the league in their roles. Not to mention that Linehan was abysmal at calling plays. Yet Zeke balled out and earned a new contract. The heavy workload could potentially shorten his career. I would only offer Zeke a 4 year contract to play in a better offense that doesn't run him directly into stacked boxes.
