Eagles setting themselves back a decade. Watch when they mortgage the future going after Mariota

I bet they draft Bryan Bennett in the 4th or 5th round, who lost a competition with Mariota in 2012 before he transferred out of Oregon. Kelly is high on him too and brought him to Oregon just like Mariota.

McCoy, Maclin and Jackson all gone. That'll take some stress of our secondary. Philadelphia Ducks won't be much of a threat losing these weapons and still not having a QB that fits Kelly's scheme.

Philly might have all that cap space- but they've also got a hell of a lot of holes to fill. The last time they opened up their wallet in free agency they ended up with the "dream team", lol.

If they pull a "Washington" and make this Mariota kid the 2015 RG3 I will laugh so hard.

Shady was 3rd in the NFL in rushing last year with a patch work Philly o line and he was running in a read option system where the QB was 0 threat to actually run the ball. In other words, he was still very good last year.

And the jury is out on Kiko....just because he racked up tackles behind that Buffalo D line doesn't make him great. And even if he is good, there have been 7 traditional (non pass rushing) LB's drafted in the 1st round since '10. The position just isn't that valuable. To trade a top 5 RB for a LB who is coming off of an ACL injury is crazy in my eyes...guess we'll find out.

Yes, because of 4 games. Look outside of those games, McCoy was average at best.

And where do you think he's going? He's going to the Bills. They also have a terrible offensive line, they also have no QB. This isn't a young AP we're talking about, this isn't Barry Sanders, McCoy is not going to carry an offense.

And no, it was no just the offensive line. McCoy danced around, he looked like crap for 8-10 games last year. He was VERY similar to Chris Johnson, who everyone made excuses for "It's the offensive line!".

Wonder if they go Gurley or Gordon in the draft now

Of the two, Gordon's probably the better fit. If they're smart though, they'd wait a couple of rounds and grab David Johnson. I don't think he's better than Gurley or Gordon or some other RBs in this class, but I do think he fits the Eagles offense the best.

Philly has Cox on their DL, but dumps Cole.

They have 1 player on that DL that is GOOD. They have 1 LB that is GOOD. They have 0 CB's who are GOOD. 1 OK safety.

On their defense they have a total of 2 good players now. Poor DL will make the LB's worse, also affecting their non-existent secondary.

Their offense: Foles ( Average QB ) , Sproles ( Not built for a #1 RB role) , Riley Cooper, and Jordan Matthews at WR. TE's are still good there.

I fail to see how at this current moment this team looks scary. They have cap space, sure. Every position other than TE they have has glaring holes.

Kiko doesn't make them a contender by sacrificing McCoy.

All of you that say Spiller will do the same... no. Spiller is usually A) Injured B) Non-factor.

Good point on the Philly line not being what it was in '13.

But Buffalo's line... even healthy isn't good.

On top of that the QB situation in Philly is much better that what the Bills currently have in Buffalo.

And then you have the $10 mil cap hit on top of that.

Ouch.

Seriously, think about it. A read option where there is never actually a #2 option. That means 90% of the carries McCoy got last year were slow developing runs from the shotgun. The fact that he got the amount of yards he did is damn impressive to me.

And I don't want to hear this non sense about his cap hit. Aside from the 1 fluke "dream team" year the Eagles never spend their money. They are perpetually $15M or more under the cap. I have a seriously hard time believing it was about the money.

They need to replace 3/4th of their secondary, re-sign Maclin or a #1 wr, need a QB, need a RB, need another OLB, I'm probably missing something else, but boy do they have work to do.

Please please trade everything for Mariota.

You are absolutely right. They rolled over 15m from last year. This is what sound cap management looks like and I don't like what I see.

I can't say it's sound cap management when they don't have talent to pay.

I mean Cox and Kendricks are still in their rookie deals. Who else are they really paying? Color me unimpressed. They might have money tied up with Jason Peters, but that's about it.
