I don't agree.

Dez Bryant. Use him. Even when you think he's not open, he is. Chuck it up, dawg. If we're going down, let's go down swinging.
Once again I find myself agreeing with you.

Merry Christmas all I need to run.

To quote:

No, we signed a guy who knows the Offense, personnel, and terminology already. We signed a guy who himself went through a herniated disc in 2011 and knows what Romo is going through more than anyone else. We signed a guy who is respected by Tony Romo more than you will ever understand, who respects the Head Coach and organization more than you will ever understand, and who regularly was the leader of prayer sessions after practices and meetings that were attended by some of the best players on this team. We signed a guy who is a HS football coach, and who could roll out of bed and throw the football the same as any guy who played the position could if they've continued to throw a football. We signed a guy who can run scout team plays because he is tough, intelligent, and a natural leader. We signed a guy who more players than you can even imagine are excited to have back.

Could have stopped at necessity...

Dez will be open when that PA comes. His downfield blocking is going to be just as valuable Sunday night.

Garrett said Kitna, who was teaching/coaching, reached out to the Cowboys about the job. Said he was gung-ho

Yea I bet he was gung-ho about receiving another NFL paycheck to watch some football from the sidelines.

Exactly, if I was Kitna and saw the ESPN newsflash about Romo I would have yelled out to my wife "Honey!! I can make a hundred grand for holding a clipboard for three hours!"

we'll just run a dumbed down version of a simplified Garrett offense of two TE max protect and a lot of checkdowns to Murray. It's going to be very conservative and teams will just be content taking away the vertical routes and playing in front of us. It will be the same with Orton as well.

.

I think even before the Romo injury, we needed to reduce the number of possessions in this game so Philly wouldnt drop 51 on us. So your above description fits into what my game plan would be too.

The problem is, that situation put us in a lot of third and longs back then as well. Problem is, if we don't adjust our routes from being exclusively vertical, we are gonna waste a lot of first downs. We'll be handing the ball back to them. The reality is, Philly will key in on the run and force Orton to beat us. This is a game where the coaches actually have to earn their money.

I'd give him a couple of chances each quarter to get deep. I mean, unless the guy is triple teamed I'm throwing him the deep ball twice a quarter. I'm going to give my best player every chance to take over the game rather than hope Kyle Orton can string together multiple 10-12 play drives.

We can do that while running the ball a ton too.

I agree with a lot of this but I certainly would make them absolutely stop the run. Not just give up on it like games past.
Murray is carrying a chip on his shoulder, let Philly try and knock it off.

So I guess he spilt the beans that Romo isn't playing... I feel like Aragorn right when he loses faith, thinking Frodo died...

Dont give up all hope. If I had to bet a lot of money, I guess it would be on the Eagles. But I am not one of the guys giving Dallas no chance at all. I mentioned in another post, going into the Saints game I felt we had zero chance of even keeping it close. I expected a beating and got it. This game coming up, I dont have that feeling of getting beat in a blowout.

Garrett asked Kitna what kind of condition he was in and gave the quarterback a 30-minute window to make a decision. Kitna, 41, talked with his family and the decision was easy to make.

"I said, 'It's not like I have been sitting around trying to stay in shape hoping I get another shot. My career is done.' I was happy with that," Kitna said. "I just knew the situation that they were in. Being down here, I felt like I might be able to help in an emergency situation, just be able to, the functionality of running a play in the NFL. So I just felt like if he felt like it was worth a shot I would be willing to do it."

"The learning the new guys would have to have in a short period of time to be able to function, we felt this was the best decision for us," Garrett said. "You want a guy who has been playing all year long. But with the options available to us we felt Kitna gives us the best chance."

But Kitna has no visions of grandeur.

"Again, Lord willing I never get to see the football field and Kyle plays awesome," Kitna said.

I, personally, appreciate the fact that he made the call. Yes, it's quite a paycheck for a week of work but the bottom line is he has been a class guy for his whole career and this was a classy move to try and help. Garrett could have said no but I suspect this was much better than any other option they had been evaluating. Like Kitna said, hopefully Orton does well if Romo doesn't take the field Sunday night. I think we all share Kitna's hopes.
