Kitna reached out to Cowboys

I'm going to repeat what I said in another thread about this same thing.

Does anyone really think this matters? If Orton goes down, the only thing Kitna or anyone else they sign is going to do is hand the ball to Murray.
Apparently one guy does. I've never seen such a fuss over a signing before.

Oh wait...yes I have. Sadly.

So Kitna hasn't played with Callahan, we have totally new blocking schemes, but he's a brilliant leader, though he's only had one winning season in his life. You'd have a better argument if you just said necessity instead of trying to spin it as some glorious move because a QB leads prayer meetings.
You only said one thing right in that post, but it is huge improvement over the rest of your drivel in this thread.

Imagine ....just imagine..Lets say Kitna needs to come in late in the 4th Qtr...and he engineers a game-winning TD drive...How about this for the next day's newspaper headline:

Math Magician

;)

I'll chuckle...

You don't like answering questions... How many seasons did Kitna have more INTs than TDs and how many winning records did he take his teams to?

In all fairness, you could ask that about any of the QBs available, and none of them are familiar with our offense, or have thrown a single pass to any of our receivers. And whether or not he's played for Callahan is irrelevant, because he isn't running the offense, or calling the plays anymore.

Wait, couldn't Carr, Skelton or any of the other QBs that are in playing shape have done that? WHy were we talking about his brilliant leadership and ability to inspire with his prayer meetings and the like?

Callahan is running the plays... And even if he wasn't, it does matter to an extent, because Kitna retired before Callahan even came and brought in his zone-blocking schemes.

I really don't mind signing Kitna. The other options (Carr/Skelton) were awful. Kitna is awful too at this point, but at least he knows the offense. We're screwed if Orton goes down and it has to go to one of those guys anyway, but at least now we have a guy who is familiar with our offense and personnel.

Carr, Skelton and the other QBs we're talking about that are in playing shape have played for Callahan and know how incredibly difficult his zone blocking schemes are to master?

Good hell, we blew it. Zone blocking schemes are so rare in the NFL, and we needed a guy who could be behind them and not throw up when he got nervous. We didn't need anyone who had thrown the ball to Dez before, or run Garrett's Offense, or worked with Tony Romo or Wade Wilson. The critical element we missed was a QB like Carr and Skelton who have played behind Callahan's other worldly zone blocking schemes.

I need to Google those seasons. I don't seem to remember them.

Drew Bledsoe is jelly we signed Kitna

lol. Bledsoe is still salty that Romo took his spot. Should have taken his spot a year earlier IMO.

In al seriousness, it's funny seeing the Bledsoes of the world come out of hiding to comment on this turn of events.

True.

And the angle not being talked about is he's seen all the defenses in the league. There isn't much that's going to overwhelm and confuse Kitna.

I'm certainly not saying he's a good QB but he's probably the best emergency QB you'll find right now. Even with the lay off.

Can I assume you think the absolute best option was Nick Stephens? He's the only one who seems to fit your whining.

Except of course the multiple seasons of more TDs than INTs and winning in the NFL.

You do realize you responded to the following question that only one guy apparently thinks that they aren't just going to hand the ball off to Murray behind that offense:

You don't think Callahan's incredibly complicated Zone blocking scheme that he hasn't played behind is going to befuddle him?

You are a brave man. Prepare for a backlash from a guy who knows more football than Marvin Lewis and Mike Holmgren, among others.

I would think our play book shrunk quite a bit when Romo went down. Wouldn't you rather have some one with some familiarity of it running things?

It would amaze you the things I realize.
