La'el Collins Thread - Cleared post 767; visited Cowboys - 05/06/15

Some people are in dream land where this isn't a business.

If we wanted him we'd have had to burn our 3rd on him.

Which brings me to our 3rd. S pick wr used on a guard tackle prospect. Who he'd also be competing with. In addition to our 7th round tackle who might have had the best measurable at the position in the draft.

He'd be crazy to sign here.

Being associated with this group, even if he didn't start for a year would do wonders for his second contract.

It sure helped Parnell get 32m.

Parnell had tape. Also if you're a first round talent 32m on your second contract is a huge disappointment.

Collins will have plenty of tape if he starts next year and he has the pedigree Parnell didn't have.

Parnell's contract would be a starting point, but let's not anoint Collins just yet.

Dolphins players Mike Pouncey and Jarvis Landry flying to Baton Rouge to recruit Collins. He'll wind up in Miami imo.

this is where he wants to be, as i understand it. good luck to him.

Should also be noted he has 3 friends who are LSU alum on the Dolphins: Jarvis Landry, Anthony Johnson, and Kelvin Sheppard. They are all recruiting him to Miami.

Also, Dallas was NOT one of his Pre-Draft visits.

Why would he want to enter into a competition with some REALLY good players behind him?

He just lost a LOT of money. He is going to try and maximize his chance at starting time and an eventual payday. While you might think he would want to come in and compete... And it sounds all great in theory.... His best financial option is to NOT do that.

Who are the 'REALLY good players' you're referring to?

It certainly doesn't apply to Ron Leary.

If we aren't gonna get him, I'd be happy if he goes to the Dolphins. Maybe the Pats will finally have some competition. Getting really tired of them getting 6 free wins every year in route to a first round bye and homefield advantage. Last year, they only had to beat one good team (Seattle) en route to a championship.

Seriously. I think it's also proven that Pro Bowls are contagious among linemen. When you get one, suddenly when others play well, you have two or three. Not that guys don't deserve it, but when a line is successful, everybody looks better.

Things worked out pretty well for the last first round lineman drafted to Dallas, and the one before that. Oh yeah, the one before that too...

Yeah OL has been pretty good, and so has the drafting of the lineman.

So are you saying Florida DOES or DOES NOT
Because if you are saying Florida DOES have state income tax .. Then just letting you know your source is wrong ... Been living and working here over 20++ years and never have paid a dime or had a dime removed for a state income tax .. Federal , SS and Medicare are the only tax deductions in state of Florida ...so Google and the Internet is wrong ... Sorry .. LOL.. Like that State Farm commercial .. LOL

I'm saying Florida DOES NOT have a state tax.

I would love to see Dallas pursue Collins if he is fully exonerated. If anyone can sell him on joining the league's best line it would be Jerry Jones. Say what you will about the man but he is charismatic and lives by the "ABC" mantra. Just flying down to see the kid in his G6 with the Star on it and pitching a kid from Baton Rogue about playing close to home and for the Cowboys could sway a lot of people.

Again, if he is cleared completely from direct or indirect causation of her death and the baby's death...I would love to see Dallas throw their hat in the ring.

If the Cowboys REALLY want Collins, they'd bring him to Jerry World and have 3 of their Pro-Bowl O-Linemen talk to him and show him their $100 Million contracts..

Parnell is a great example of why he should come to Dallas. Parnell in very limited time became the 4th highest paid right tackle in the league.

Another reason why we MUST get La'el Collins is at the rate we're going we're already looking at having the most expensive offensive line in football in just a few more years. Getting Collins would at least allow us to reduce the cost of either Free or Leary going forward.
