.

  1. 12-4 playoff team and possible Super Bowl contender
  2. His childhood favorite growing up
  3. Playing alongside 3 Pro Bowlers, increasing his own chances for success
  4. One of the league's most talented offenses
  5. Arguably the highest profile team in the league
  6. Two words - Jermey Parnell. Parnell signed a $32 million contract after playing 6 games on this line
  7. Randy Gregory, his fellow rookie, friend, and workout partner, with whom he shares an agent

Those are a few off the top of my head.

If it's true Dallas was his favorite teams growing up then that is huge for us.

If it were me in his situation and the amount of money is capped for all teams I would go to my favorite team.

They had either an xbox or ps3 on the big screen when it first opened. I think it was a ps3 and Sony was a sponsor. Youtube I think has videos.

For any player that is a gamer, that would be a really cool experience.

why would every team not guarantee his salary?

They likely wouldn't. But my point is that all can pay the same total amount of money and not a penny more.

anyone saying they'd rather have 40k right now as opposed to 88k is a bald-faced liar or is very poor at math.

And if that's why they're making a career altering decision, they're also an idiot. An idiot who must be horrible with money.

the rest of this money is paid out in 17 installments per season.
the bonus is right now.
that is what he gets into a house/condo and/or provides short term for mama with.

And he couldn't do it otherwise? Your belief here is that he would make a career-defining decision based on who could pay him the cash the fastest?

I'm sorry, but I credit him for having more intelligence than that. This was also a guy prepared to sit out an entire season, meaning he's not desperate for money.

The question is if we get Collins, do we draft a offensive linemen in the 1st round next year to round everything out?

But seriously, draft a defensive back...

I feel bad for the kid. The police just cost him millions of dollars for something he had nothing to do with.

I hope whoever signs him does it right and gives him a good contract, not an UDFA type of contract.

If we don't get him, then oh well. Just don't let Chippy spew lies to him and convince him to go there.

I'm saying that one of Dallas' OT positions is open for competition, as well as the LG spot. And, again, I still haven't seen an example of this team with a 'guaranteed starting Left Tackle role' waiting for Collins.

I agree with you, I think they are. But they are a line with two spots available for him to compete to start today. And earning a role there means you're playing alongside the best, where if you do your own job, and worry about only yourself, you can go as far as your talent takes you.

No disputing that. But, as I've said, if there are no guaranteed LT spots anywhere, Smith's LT spot is a moot point.

We just disagree, I think there are several teams who have poor LT play who are interested and Ryan is very much interested as is Buffalo as is the Rams and some others. I would love to have Collins but I think there are better situation for him than Dallas do not know what else to tell you

On Parnell getting 32 mill? very good for a RT yet does not even crack the top 10 payouts made my LT

1. We have the no state tax thing working for us
2. We can only pay him the max allowed by the rules/CBA

Pretty sure there's a max we or any other team can offer. I'm not worried about being outbid

None of which you have mentioned to be honest.

To be honest I have told you team who are showing great interest you choose to blow it off? Yes Getting Collins is great for Dallas I agree but to act as if well no one needs a LT around the NFL?

Had not heard about the Rams. Wouldn't think they need a LT after drafting the Auburn kid last year.

Not only that but he won't be at RT here theoretically until after he can renegotiate.
He is going to want more money after 2 years.

Dallas just paid Free 10x what it will Collins to play RT. They pay Smith 20x what it will Collins to play LT.

They are selling out with the show of love and talk of the best OL ever but there is a reason he left town without signing.

Probably going to be a lot of heartbroken Cowboys fans... but man I do hope I am wrong.

This is one of the best possible values in this league.

I agree with you. I hope Dallas gets him but all I am seeing is a bunch of homer responses as if Dallas is the only team in need of a OT yet we are the top OL in the NFL I serious doubt no one is in big need of help on the OL much more so than the Cowboys

If he's a Cowboys fan, how could he see Doug Free as an obstacle?

Speed Bump maybe?

Well, he may have some youthful impatience and ego issues, and may want the starting role to be assured and want to be "the man".

I'm hoping he's more mature than that.

No one would take 40k now over 88k, period.
The future earnings are more likely lesser staying here than elsewhere because he is going to start out much lower on the OL totem pole than other places.
But that extra 48k is real money, today.

Maybe it could be argued he'd make more here in endorsements or something but the reality is up front money is king, especially in the NFL and especially to a kid whose probably earned less than 75K in his entire life because he has been playing football on scholarship.

I really hope I am wrong but the logic I am using is 100% correct and the stuff you are tossing about is mostly wishful thinking.

BTW, homers, Parnell is an example of why he wouldn't choose here.

Parnell spent years here making peanuts playing at a starting level when given the chance and was never even a consideration to re-sign.

I didn't realize that parnell was considered a 1st rd pick coming out of college.

They are limited by league rules on what they can pay him
