Early exit in the play offs: don't extend Dak and go with Lance. Trade all the talent that's left for 1st and 2nd round picks and rebuild. Start with completing the oline. Only keep Ferguson and Aubrey.

NFCCG or Superbowl: extend Dak's contract, try to keep the roster together as long as possible.

Let's not ruin all the progress by throwing him out there too early.

Let's take a look next preseason and then put him back on the shelf. That fruit doesn't ripen until 2025.

The greatest enemy of player development is impatience.
I think that’s been the plan all along. Get him ready to be the backup next year and move on from rush. Dak never gets snaps in pre season so he will get a lot of reps. He can learn from the sideline this season, have a full off season and pre season to give him every chance to succeed

No it's called bringing him along slowly like Prescott
It's the reads
Yep, it looks simple but it requires very quick reads. That makes it more complex for a young guy who can’t make those quick reads

bringing him along slowly? Prescott started as a Rookie and won 13 games.

Lance, couldn't be the backup in SF and they added a bust to be their backup.

so bringing him along slowly, because he is not NFL QB, he can't read defenses. he doesn't throw with anticipation. he is not NFL QB. it may take another 5 or 6 years perhaps

Paying $5M for a 3rd string QB next year is some type of Al Davis move.
yeah. isn't it
He broke his hand and his leg.

Nothing wrong with his ability to play QB.
when he wasn't injured. he didn't show much. he struggled a lot on a very good team, with a lot of weapons
in college he was average too. 174 passing yards per game.
he is a small school guy. obviously not ready for NFL.

I'd rank Dak after Cousins. Not even close.

I don't think you should rank an older QB with only 2 Pro Bowls in the top 10 of anything.

.
LOL. yeah. cousins who has accomplished a lot less than Dak in his career.

and so lets just play along with your joke and add that to the list.
that makes him 7th.

and if you are counting Probowls as accomplishments, then your standards are all screwed up.

so you are suggesting a rebuild for a team that went 12-5, 12-5, and probably same this year at worst 12-5, maybe 13-4....

You want to build around Lance. What a joke.

The Atlanta Falcons moved on from Bret Favre.

The Tampa Bay Bucs moved on from Steve Young

The San Diego Chargers moved on from Drew Brees

All three of them won Super Bowls with their 2nd team. Two were SB MVP's. Two of them are in the Hall of Fame.

Favre played one game for the Falcons. He was zero for four with two INT's.

There are literally hundreds of NFL stories where a player was released or traded from one team and found great success with another.

I understand that we all love the instant gratification of a generational player but that isn't typically how things work out. Some players have to endure some pretty challenging situations.

I couldn't believe some of the names and insults hurled at young Cowboys players who eventually became impressive contributors in their own right. It just took them a little longer. Some of the "pure garbage" that were mentioned included Cooper Rush, Dalton Schultz, Dorance Armstrong, Terence Steele, Brandon Aubrey and Tyler Biadasz.

The Cowboys are approaching this with a new concept. This is a reset of a QB's career that will be treated differently, the franchise will patiently work with him to eliminate those negative aspects without the pressure of immediate result that typically shorten and end the careers of so many young QB's.
Here’s an old concept. Poor football players know if they don’t play they can’t produce results. If they can’t produce results they cannot get the big contract. The moment Lance believes he can be a productive NFL QB he’ll want the chance to be a starting quarterback.
