Three years ago might matter legally, but not to the league.

Serious question for you guys: If Mike Vick had never been caught for the dogfighting stuff etc but he had stopped 7 years ago.. No Jail, no suspension, no nothing.. What would the NFL do if a video was dropped today of Vick Drowning a dog? Does the fact that it's from 7 years ago make it not worthless and only a PR issue for the team or would the NFL step in?

Depending if there is a statute of limitations, he would face the same consequences he did the first time.

He was punished by that in the court system and by the NFL as well. So I don't think the video would matter as far as the NFL saying you can/cannot play, but it could matter from a public relations standpoint in terms of a team deciding he's worth the backlash.

What they said was when it came out his career was over. Im guessing they mean prison.

If that is true, how could an event of that magnitude be hidden for so long? Shouldn't the police be aware of that kind of stuff? This story has so many holes.

It wouldn't? Prior to the release of the video inside the elevator, Ray Rice was given a punishment. Then there was backlash against the league. The league put new guidelines in place, so when a guy is busted for domestic violence, he is given a four-game suspension as a first offender.

Then the video came out. Ray Rice still hasn't been reinstated. Why not?

Wrong, Ray Rice has been reinstated but no teams have called.

King ruined Tyson with his brainwashing for a lack of a better word, not with his training or lack thereof.

King didn't brainwash Tyson. King kissed Tyson's arse because Tyson was a cash-cow for King.

Tyson didn't have anybody there to train him. It would be the equivalent of Jay Z making Ja Rule the WR coach of the Cowboys. That would make it hard for anybody to continue to be successful.

Fine, but the point remains. He was not allowed to play for an entire year, despite the NFL's new guidelines. And the video was the reason.

True. Giving Dez the benefit and hoping there is nothing to this video. It could be an extortion and could even feature a look alike.

He's been reinstated since November. And no team has called him.

Was he reinstated after four weeks, the suspension term the league came up with? No? Why? Some of you arguing trivial points that have nothing to do with the main point I was making -- that is, the video absolutely impacted the league's actions. The video had EVERYTHING to do with the league's actions, so for someone to suggest that a video of Bryant would have no impact on what the NFL says or doesn't say or do is completely dismissing recent history.

Man- true words. I was such a huge Tyson fan back in the day. Gee- I loved boxing back then.
Robin Givens was the straw that broke the camel's back giving him anti-depressants, but that's a story for another forum and if it wasn't going to be her, it was going to be someone, or something else very quickly. He was already spiraling and while Don King wasn't the direct cause- he did absolutely zip to help the situation and probably made everything worse.

It's almost crazy to say he was a waste of potential given his career, but I don't think anybody would dispute it.
I still remember his young career in complete and absolute awe and wish he could have been around in his prime to decimate the Klitschko brothers and shown what a Real Heavyweight Champ would have done to them.

Off subject: I was looking at your sig and noticing the pure, unadulterated focus on Witten's face after his helmet came off to just "GO GO GO".

That man is an American treasure. From his back story to his present day. A shoo-in for the Ring of Honor and the Hall of Fame.
A throwback. An Old-Schooler. A great role model in every way and someone a kid can relate to when you tell them how football "used to be".
A modern day Gladiator who's tale will be told fondly for generations. A man who will be immortalized in many memories.
I will be a sadder man over his retirement than Romo's and that is absolutely not a knock on Tony Romo.
