So, why didn't ESPN buy the elevator tape of Ray Rice knocking out is then girlfriend??

How do you know they didn't try, but why would they that thing was more or less wrapped and bow tied no one was under any type of assumption that what happened, Rice admitted to hitting his girlfriend and knocking her out.

I just tweeted that jaywan inc moron, he said he was going on ESPN radio in 15 minutes 45 minutes ago, and he hasnt been on lol this guy is a lying SOB

I've had ESPN on all day and not a peep about anything....No Dez, no Schefter and definitely no Jaywan

I got duped for about 10 minutes last night, but this is just Terez Owens quoting Jaywan who is quoting Terez Owens who is quoting erod who is quoting Jaywan. Florio hears all the noise and says he has heard rumors and everyone gets excited.

The only reason I'm not dismissing this story outright is Schefter's work on it. He's a respected media guy with solid credentials. However, if he's been snooping around this story since September and still hasn't uncovered anything he feels comfortable reporting, it casts serious doubt on how incriminating this evidence really is.

Schefter isn't exactly credible.

This is the same guy who reported that there was a 'schism' in the Vikings locker room over players wanting Tavaris Jackson to be the starting QB over...Brett Favre.

His report was laughed out of Minnesota because it was ridiculous.

The difference is that the Minnesota media took up for the Vikings and laughed it out of Minnesota. In Dallas, the local media would have ran with it like it was the gospel.

The fact is that Schefter works for ESPN and ESPN reporters have a Mendoza-line like accuracy level and love to find anybody who says anything, don't vet their sources and treat rumors and innuendo as fact. That's the landscape at Bristol.

The strange thing is the entire "I've been working on this since September" comments from Schefter. It's very suspicious as to why he has waited so long to report the video. In fact, he hasn't even made a peep about the video until today.

This reminds me of another case of questionable ethics from ESPN....the Bobby Davis recorded phone conversation with former Syracuse assistant basketball coach, Bernie Fine's wife.

Davis accused Fine of molesting him as a boy, but his story was at best, suspect. Davis also never went to the police about the story. He called the police a couple of times and when the police tried to arrange Davis to meet up with them, he never showed up to talk to the police.

Meanwhile, Davis recorded a phone conversation with Fine's wife, Laurie. The conversation hinted at possible molestation, but came more off as a legal, consensual sexual touching of Davis by Fine. Davis gave the tape to ESPN, but never gave it to the police.

ESPN held the tape for 10 years and never went public with the tape recording until after the Sandusky/Penn State child rape scandal and when Davis got his step-brother to claim to ESPN that Fine molested him as well. When asked why ESPN did not send the tape to the police, they claimed "It's not our job to send the tape to the police" (I wish I was making that up).

Fine's wife claims that the tape was doctored and like I said, the conversation more or less pointed out to Fine having sexual contact with Davis when he was of legal age.

Based on that, I think it's imperative to not dignify the rumor until it becomes something legitimate. ESPN has a long history of sketchy and inaccurate reporting. They have shown that they will reward their reporters for getting out any story that makes ratings and not punish them for inaccuracies or even what could be perceived as outright lying and making things up by the reporter. They essentially have the absolute, bare minimum...scraping the bottom of the floor level of journalistic standards. And they don't care one iota about that as shown in the Fine case where they claimed "it's not our job" to turn over potential EVIDENCE with regards to a child molestation case to police.

My guess is that Schefter probably saw the tape but it's likely very ambiguous and you can't even tell if it is Dez and what exactly is going on. It probably doesn't fit the ESPN agenda and he's trying to get supporting evidence to help fit that agenda and that's why he hasn't said anything. But now that the rumor has gone out, they don't want to be beaten to the punch so they'll release the video anyway.

I just find it funny. If Dez Bryant was a Commander, this board would routinely talk about the assault on his own Mother. All that stuff goes ignored when he's wearing the right colors.

I would hope for the team's sake he didn't make another scumbag move. He is a rare player. The most gifted wideout in the history of the team, IMO.

To be fair, in that interview Schefter was very careful to state pretty much there really is no story to report. He basically said he's aware of the word that such tape exists and basically hasn't been able to find anything concrete in 6 months.

Not sure what harm there is in saying that....

D e a d spin saying they have NOT been contacted about the video. If ANY media outlet would be contacted it would be them, unless these guys are total idiots. This sounds like complete garbage to me.

********, the Big Lead, Kissing Suzy Kolber, Barstool Sports....all of them with nada

Even TMZ would hint that they were working on something if it was real

I'm surprised they didn't wait for Jerry to re-sign Dez before releasing the video....assuming it exists in the first place.

I agree with you here. I'm praying it's not true. If it is, this cannot be excused. I would hope people here wouldn't excuse it.
