If we did that it would be payback for the Hershel Walker trade. I would give a conditional 5th or 6th that could become a 4th based on performance at the very most. He would also have to agree to a huge pay cut. Giving more than a 4th would be absolutely insane.

Since it seems like the new cool thing to do is to only keep a running back for his rookie contract I am all for trading a 2nd round pick for AP.

I trust Peterson over the next 3 years more than I trust a college back for the next 5 years. We only have Romo for another 3 years more than likely. Don't risk his Super Bowl on a rookie when rookie running back 99.5% of the time won't turn into what Peterson already is. I don't care how many YouTube videos there are about Todd Gurly. Odds are he won't be what Paterson is and if he does it will be in the last year of his contract and we will let him walk like Murray.

As for using the money to fix the defense instead....well that's not an option because the only player we could use money to fix the defense with is Hardy and it seems like him coming to Dallas has nothing to do with Peterson coming or not.

Imagine if they got Peterson and signed Hardy.

I'd be chomping at the bit for the season to start.

I've said more than once....

Plus getting Lee, signing Ro and the draft.... We are an improved fighting machine

AD & Hardy makes too much sense

I agree with needing replacement for Harris. But I really don't think he was all that.

I read an article awhile back that said the staff may consider Street for the duty. Has he ever returned kicks?

Harris was one of those blue collar (work horse) player that made plays here and there. He was a player that evolved as a great special teams player for the past 3-4 years with the Cowboys.

He was usually either 1st or 2nd to the ball at kick-offs and punts. Reliable punt returner where he had 1 or 2 home run returns last year I believe. I also recall he had several big time 3rd down catches for the offense.

This loss of a player was bitter sweet for me. Sad to see him go but he deserved every penny he was offered by ANOTHER rival. That one hurts.

RB has certainly become a throw-away position for some teams. The Patriots and Giants are 2 examples.
Their approach seems to be "well we need a body there, so lets get someone".

The Patriots did not have one RB in 2014 that had 100 carries.

So the plan is to sign no defensive free agents, dont pay the reigning offensive MVP $8M per, give up a 2nd and 3rd rounder, and pay AP $12-13M per? I love AP, but he aint Superman. And he doesnt play DE or CB.

Thus the reason to be upset at not focusing on what needs to be done. They aleady have a running back. Cowboys need to focus on defense right now.

I wouldn't be scared off by Petersen's age.

Another guy with freakish talent, Marcus Allen, stayed productive until his late 30s. Not the norm, but it does happen.

Dallas is probably skittish about big name FAs, but I'd bet this gets done. Roy W from Detroit wasn't the AD of WRs.

A child beater and a female beater.

At a minimum they'd terrify the opposing player's wives and children. ;)

All joking aside, they'd certainly improve both sides of the ball.

Heck no! AP will be either cut or traded for less. Trying to drive up price since JJ lost DM.

Curious about this part of your post. Why would it take a rb four or five years to reach potential when rb is considered one of the easiest positions to transition into the nfl?
