So the plan is to sign no defensive free agents, dont pay the reigning offensive MVP $8M per, give up a 2nd and 3rd rounder, and pay AP $12-13M per? I love AP, but he aint Superman. And he doesnt play DE or CB.

KJJ I respect you and enjoy all your posts. But I can't see how you can say with any certainty that AP has no shot of being in Dallas. I'd say it is unlikely, but I would never say never after what we've seen in the NFL this past week.
Now, if you are only speaking of Dallas trading for him.....then I would agree it isn't happening, but I thought I also read earlier you saying he would not be on this team. Again, I would say its unlikely....but I do think there is a chance he is eventually cut by the Vikes.

I've commented that Peterson won't be with the Cowboys if a trade for a premium draft pick is involved and if he's looking for $25M guaranteed which has been rumored. I can say with certainly Jerry isn't going to give up a premium draft pick or a lot of guaranteed money to sign a 30 year old Peterson and I base that on Jerry allowing Murray to walk and giving Philly a shot at him. It was money that cost the Cowboys Murray and they sure aren't going to turn around and give up a premium draft pick and a lot of money for a back who's 3 years older than the one they just let get away. If the Cowboys had any thoughts of trading for Peterson it would have already gone down and McFadden wouldn't have been signed. The Cowboys have been preparing for the loss of Murray ever since the offseason began and McFadden is the back they targeted knowing he would be a bargain. The Cowboys will now focus on the draft that will have a strong RB class giving them an opportunity to replace Murray with a much cheaper back.

Minn doesn't want to trade AP they have a promising young QB who could take a big step in 2015 from having him in the backfield but if they do trade him they'll be looking for some solid compensation. They're going to want at least one premium draft pick and Jerry isn't about to do that and have to pay a premium price along with it to get Peterson under contract. Jerry just sent a message by allowing Murray to walk that the Cowboys don't value RB's like they once did and he's not about to cough up a premium draft pick and some big guaranteed money on an aging back when he just allowed his MVP RB from last season to walk due to money. If Peterson were to be "released" and was willing to give the Cowboys a discount to play behind their OL then that would open up a real possibility of him ending with the Cowboys but this latest rumor that has the Vikings wanting a 2nd and 3rd round pick will definitely keep Jerry away. The last couple of times Jerry gave up draft picks for veteran players he got burned.

Defitnately NO to Adrian Peterson. I hope the Cowboys do their best to enhance the defense through the draft and find replacements for Parnell and Dwayne Harris. IMO, losing Harris was huge. Superb special team player and 3rd down receiver.

I wouldn't mind a third or maybe even a just a second. Both though, heck no.

there's no way he will take less money than Murray got, so we might as well forget about him

You think you're gonna get a better player who will have an even bigger impact than what you're gonna get in round 2? Not even close. Nobody will care about that 2nd round pick if AP helps us win the division and more.

Glad you're not GM. There are numerous players that could be difference makers in the 2nd round. Would I take AP as a FA? Sure. But I'd much rather have Tevin Coleman, Ajayi or Abdullah in the 2nd for 1/10 the cost.

I agree with needing replacement for Harris. But I really don't think he was all that.

I read an article awhile back that said the staff may consider Street for the duty. Has he ever returned kicks?

With the signing of McFadden, the cowboys will not go after Peterson unless he's as cheap as McFadden was. This is a non issue

Difference makers like Gavin Escobar? Who caught 9 balls last year? Difference makers like Demarcus Lawrence? Who produced a whopping 9 tackles last year?

to move forward you have to take some risks....
that's life....

Monopoly?

don't get comfortable with "Dallas will never pay for anything again" theory.... the right player, they will....
question is do they feel AP is the right player. we will find out...
and stop saying it definitely will/ or definitely won't.... black and white, life isn't.

Cowboys are simply going to draft a RB, I just do not see this happening with regard to draft picks or money!

I doubt he will be back in Minnesota he doesn't want to be their and management doesn't want to pay him 13 million. No team is going to trade for him knowing that the Vikings will eventually cut him. The Vikings are better off drafting a RB in the draft if they need to. I think the Vikings are screwed and don't hold the cards like some of you are saying.
