Imagine if they got Peterson and signed Hardy.

I'd be chomping at the bit for the season to start.

Till the bill came due. Then you would be screaming about what idiots we were for splurging

I posted earlier and said "when AP gets released..."

That isn't going to happen. Minn will take the best offer they can get.....Even if its just a few low level picks.... Why release him and get nothing? Someone is trading something.....And Minn will take the best they can get....

So, i think its going to take some draft picks.....I would give a 2 or equivalent. But thats it. And AP would have to agree to what......9 million a year? 2 year contract. All of it guaranteed.

Draft a RB in the 1st or 3rd...

On Defense, i think they are committed to the low cost guys rotating in and out...
And using the Offense to keep them fresh and off the field. So we have to be ...Great on Offense. Not just good enough. Great. I do think AP is a once in a generation RB. Murray is not. Although I really liked what Murray did..... AP, behind this oline would be something to see...

I wonder what it would take as far as getting the money to pay that contract? And yes, I know. It is a big big risk. But, I think we are right there in the SB hunt....Thats what we all want. A Super Bowl. I think AP is worth the risk, If no other team comes in and offers a boatload of Draft picks. And if it weren't for Romos window, I wouldn't even consider this.

you know the thing is the Vikings are cornered - they won't keep Peterson on his current contract and any trade is a huge favor to them. I say let some other team give up those kind of draft picks. I was thinking a 5th round pick and a restructure to something more cap friendly, but we don't have to do it. I think our running game will be fine.

The other notable thing is that Peterson would have to ok the trade unless a team wants to take on that contract. I doubt that.

The good thing is that AP is going to have to agree to renegotiate his contract in any trade scenario. So Arizona & Minn just cant get it done without AP agreeing. So we will likely have the opportunity to match Arizona's draft pick offer. If it is reasonable enough and we do, the next problem is that AP's represented by Rosenhaus, so I dont see a bargain deal for us when it comes to the renegotiated contract.

A child beater and a female beater.

At a minimum they'd terrify the opposing player's wives and children. ;)

All joking aside, they'd certainly improve both sides of the ball.

All I care is that they are Eagle beaters, Packers beaters and Seahawk beaters

I would give a 3rd round pick this year + 2nd round pick next year if he will run for 1800 yards this season.

Curious about this part of your post. Why would it take a rb four or five years to reach potential when rb is considered one of the easiest positions to transition into the nfl?

Look at the top 10 rushers in the league last year....in fact look at every back that to rushed for over 1000 yards and you will see how many of them are in their first 3 years in the league. Only 2 out of 13 are. Bell and Hill. The other 11 are veteran backs. None of them are rookie backs. Hill barely broke 1000 yards in his 2nd year and Bell was in his 3rd year.

Everyone keeps saying that backs come in and make an immediate impact. very few can become every down workhorse backs until they are about to be labelled too old around these parts.

IMO, the pick is secondary and could be negotiated. Its the contract that is insane. Would the players association allow him to re-do his deal and take less money? I ask only to see if its anything like MLB. Because I remember A-Rod was being traded to Boston and he was gonna do a lesser deal.....and the players' association said....Oh no you're not.

I would give up one pick for him. a third for sure... maybe a second, if I get a 4th back..... we were going to draft a back with a pick anyway, we wouldn't have to at that point....

contract have to get renegotiated big time... and I wouldn't commit too much money past two years...

if this happened and it wont the new responsible Cowboys are just a sham

I think it all falls apart when Romo retires in a few years anyway. I would prefer taking a shot before then than wondering what might have been

Can't argue that my friend. For the record I would too..... Was really addressing the poster that I quoted and his fetish for revisionist history

No picks. I agree that Minnesota will eventually release him. I think most other teams understand this. I don't think there's a team out there willing to take on his salary. I also don't see a team willing to give premium picks (especially in this draft) for a 30 year old RB.

I would be surprised if Minn gets a thing for him. Sure he can renegotiate his deal, but that's a lot of trouble.

We are playing this perfectly if we want AP.

I love this fantasy land you guys live in where Jerry Jones has been a victim of a hostile takeover of his own team.

Nothing happens here without Jerry's approval.

of all the FA signings we have done this offseason, tell me which one of those did Jerry suggest?

Ill give you McFadden for good measure.
