Good post Bob! I haven't seen anyone gloating or celebrating Dak's injury. Certainly haven't seen posts saying "good riddance," "Let the Dalton era begin," or any of that nonsense. There are a couple of posts where people have taken the financial standpoint in light of the injury. And that's certainly their choice/opinion which is fine IMO.
I think some posters have taken the injury as personal insult and now claiming that others are elated that we lost Dak for the year.
Frankly, I don't think any Cowboy fan is happy, elated and celebrating that loss considering the season the young man was having.
And I'm not a Dak fan. Still I realize he was a plus player in Garrett's ball control run first system where you need someone to hand off to Zeke and get out of the way. Meanwhile you get good at tossing a few passes here and there as needed.
Big Mac brings a different style where everything goes through the QB. And the flares, flats and passes to the backs are considered a long handoff. Dak has done a great job in acclimating to that style. As a fan, his injury hurts.
It is much easier to find a starting QB these days. If you look at a list of the starters you'll find 15 drafted since 2016. So nearly half the starters have less than 5 or less years in the league. (10 have less than 3 years). Back to 2014 there are 18 starters. And back to 2010 there are 23. Only 9 were drafted in the 2000s.....Brady, Rodgers, Ben, Rivers, Fitz, Brees, Stafford, Ryan, and Flacco.
Its a fact college ball is becoming more like the pro game and players are better prepared for the next level. And coaches want that young guy on the field to see what he can do before they invest the big money.
I felt bad for Gale Sayers, Theismann, Tim Krumrie, Alex Smith, and for Dak. An injury is not something to celebrate, no matter who it is.
