In regards to RKG, the top requirement is a guy that loves football. Bobbie Carpenter was NOT an RKG despite never being in trouble.

Precisely. I don't know where so many people get the idea that RKG means, Eagle Scout who will help granny across the street. For Garrett, it has always meant that the guy loves to play football, that it is extremely important to him, that he wants to work to get better, that his team mates are important to him, and that he isn't going to be an idiot off the field and will be available to play in the games.

Garrett tries to stay away from bad team mates who wont mesh well with his nose-to-the-grindstone approach, and to whom winning is the most important thing. He never says they have to not get into any mischief ever or never drink a beer.

However, the guys who tend to get into trouble are the exact one's who typically won't sell out to help the team. Some will though, like Irvin and Dez.

Honestly, it is just a case-by-case basis.

Suh and Hardy both love the game and work hard at it. Both have football way up on their list of priorities and leave it all on the field every Sunday. Both would be considered RKG's in all likelihood unless Hardy is considered a future risk for domestic violence.

The distraction element for Hardy is real however, and could keep Dallas from trying to sign him.

Dallas looks at youth, potential going forward, love of the game, work ethic, and football character when trying to decide on a free agent, IMO. Both Hardy and Suh fit well with all of that and either could end up in Dallas... although I think the chance of them not being in Dallas is greater.

You seem to forget that our Jags and DL helped get us into the playoffs this year. You can't have "all pro's" at every
position with a franchise QB eating up a good chunk of the cap. Besides, our winning formula is to have a standout
running game with Romo's passing to keep the opposing offense off the field. The only player on the planet that
Jerry might go against his braintrust for would be AP if he was available and Murray moves on which is expected.

The JAGs on our DL got us to the playoffs and cost us the GB game. Because they're JAGs.

I may be alone here and Suh is a great player but he's no JJ Watt...he's just not.

Of course they don't tag him. They'd have to pay him like 25 mil. for one year if they did. He's not a fit in the 3-4 at NT anyway. He could be a really good 3-4 end however. Not that he's interested in playing in a 3-4 (doesn't strike me like a team player).

Seriously doubt it. They have to pay their QB and running back soon. They might be able to handle his contract this year, but what about next year and the year after that?

I agree. They have concerns with signing their own players right now. They just finished letting decent players walk last year because of future cap concerns. I'm not sure they can afford to bring him in for what he might want. Will be interesting to see what happens here.

I wonder what the Eagles, Commanders and Giants think about Dallas signing a young, dominant DT like Suh?

I wonder if they'd be glad we did or if they'd dread playing him for the next half decade or so?

Would they say, "Yes! Dallas just spent a lot on one defensive player!" or would they think, "Suh makes their entire defense different and with him collapsing the pocket, their DE's will get to the QB a lot more."?

Will they think Dallas spent a lot or will they think the whole defense just got a lot nastier?

Will they think this makes it more difficult for Dallas to bring in some lower priced free agents or will they think that with a young guy like Suh who has no motivation issues, his contract could be structured in such a way to not impact the cap nearly as much as someone who will only be good for a couple-three years?

He's not BETTER than watt, he's just an unrestricted free agent. Mario Williams was in the same situation as suh (couldnt be franchised because of the old rookie scale) and he got 6 and 100. Suh will top that for sure (1. He's better 2. Inflation). The ability to franchise lowers top end salary.

Everyone here talks about how we don't have the money to sign our own guys and a guy like Suh or Hardy. Yet Seattle always has money to do whatever the want. What's wrong with this picture?
