Lions to ask NFL to review unnecessary roughness penalty for tackle on Elliott

Stop. That was not a penalty. The Lions player got him off his feet, which is necessary because as long as his feet are engaged, he keeps moving forward. The body slam was not even a slam, as the Lions player's body made contact with the ground first. I'm tired of the NFL trying to remove the physical aspect of the game. I'm also glad that Elliott was not injured during the play.
sure it was. I watched them move the sticks and everything

I thought it was crazy that no one seemed to know the rule.

I don't mean this to sound soft, but Robinson did not need to pick Elliott up to stop him. And the extent he elevated him was excessive.

If they didn't call it, I'd be okay with that. But they did because it's the rule.

I'm sick and tired of the Lions and their crying to the refs after every game they play against Dallas. I still blame them for the less than favorable call on the Dez catch in Green Bay.

Oddly they never seem to complain about bad calls when they play other teams. They seem borderline obsessed with the Cowboys.

Are you guys sure the whistle had blown? Seems way too fast for that to have occurred before Zeke was on the ground.

I think it's actually a good rule. Otherwise you're going to get players power bombed to the turf. It's completely unnecessary to tackle that way and you can't claim to be about player safety and allow that to happen.

Exactly... Review it all you want.. You can't lift a guy up off the ground like that, hold them up, and then slam them.

It was like the announcers had never seen this rule before or something.

Yup. Exactly.... and The way these guys break collarbones I don't want them slamming Zeke.

The announcers sounded like a mamby pamby Nancy.... "I thought he'd never shut the ***** up"

It's pretty clear he intentionally lifts him up and slams him down. When he first wraps him up all he has to do is drop his body weight, but instead he attempts and executes a body slam. That is by definition a penalty.

Yep. It's an easy call and this should be a quick response back to Detroit: "We took a look. It's still a penalty."

Man...I don't ever remember so many school-room sissy teams like the Giants and now the Lions crynin' 'bout penalties. You got your butt kicked seven ways from Sunday...don't hide behind the refs. Just take your lick like a man and move on...geez.

Bull ....... the play was over and he picked Zeke up and slammed him to the ground ........ that is the definition of UNNECESSARY roughness.
