hos, if you're saying using "any" drug illegally constitutes "abuse" then i would disagree. is this what you're saying?
I absolutely am saying exactly that. 100% correct and on the money. The illegal nature of it is what constitutes it as "abuse." Otherwise it would just be "use."

Hank is all about the gambling. Check him out on Sunday mornings.

Also, listen to Foxsports radio right now. Czaban and co. are picking against the spread. They have Brandon Lang (prof. handicapper) on later. Gambling is a huge part of the media, and the NFL. Every week on Mike and Mike I know they pick against the spread. It's not a kiss of death by any means.
That's not an NFL show, it's a sports radio show. Papa Joe Chevalier talks point spreads too.

Not to belabor the point but again, not an NFL show.

Oh man don't be naive. If you think they like dead money, negative press and replacing players earlier than planned you are in the clouds.

But you reject my argument about owners supporting actions that shorten careers. Doesn't that generate dead money as well? Doesn't that mean they are replacing players earlier?

It's all the same network. Goldberg does it on television every sunday morning. You said guys like him and Berman don't reveal lines, if they did they'd be disciplined, and all these shows, including Goldberg, on television, reveal lines, and pick against them.

while i understand your motivation behind it, i'd have to disagree.

drinking a beer or two is far different from slamming a bottle of jack in one evening. drinking a beer or two on a regular basis is far from doing the bottle a night for say, 3+ years.

the bottle a night for 3+ years is abuse clearly. i know that cause i lived it. lived through it somehow.

so i'm hoping we can agree that there is a difference between drinking a few beers vs. full blown alcoholism. if not then the rest of my point is useless, but i'll go on.

now what if someone just takes a hit or two at the end of the day to unwind. is that "abuse"? if so is it only the legality of pot that makes using it in any shape, form or fashion "abuse"?

just wanting to be clear before i go on. : )

The NFL would come down on the network if an NFL affiliated show was discussing gambling. By all means, don't take my word for it. Call one of them and ask.

I personally feel sorry for those that feel the NEED to either use drugs or drink. And it is NEED if you claim you are using it just to unwind.

I watch these shows, lol. Your claim that Goldberg would be disciplined immediately for revealing gambling lines was incorrect. He does it, every week man. All these shows talk about them. I really don't think the NFL looks at that and says "Oh, it's just Miike and Mike, they don't have NFL in their name". In any case, you never threw out the NFL affiliated caveat until now.

I kinda feel sorry for those who don't respect the choices that consenting adults make

There's a time and a place for everything, children. And it's called college.

so what's your "release"?

do you go to work, come home, cook supper, give some love to the wife and kids, go to bed and get up and do it again and for 2 weeks out of the year you take the kids to disney and soccer practice on the weekends?

i really don't care what people do around me that gets them by in life. i *do* care when they feel their choices/morals are more superior to my own and try to condem me for the choices i make in life.

why do people NEED to do that? fragile self esteem???

Then I feel sorry for you too. All this BS about consenting adults. What about the crime that is part and parcel of the drugs scene? All the drunks on the road? That is part of it to- no matter how much you want to deny it.

who said i denied it?

don't listen - just sit there and feel sorry for me then and don't bother understanding the background. sounds like you've judged before trying to understand anyway.

THAT is a huge problem to me.

what is there to understand? That you need to drink or do drugs? THAT is why I feel sorry for you.

So you are saying that an adult can't choose what to do? As long as I'm not endangering others then I feel you have no right to tell me what I can and what I can't do.

You don't like it then don't do it. And don't give me that "crime associated with it" rap -- that arguement can be made regarding any commodity. You don't think there is crime associated with industries like electronics, garbage collection, construction, firearms, cigarettes, et al?

i'd just walk away from the quickest judge in the west. circumstances are not important to him, only his opinion on right and wrong. you can't win or even get an acknowledgement of your own rights in a situation like this, so - i'd just let it be.

There was some quote from South Park, that I can't find.

It was something like, "Drugs are bad. And, having never tried drugs myself, I can tell you that they have absolutely nothing to offer."

I thought it was funny.
