Logan Wilson: Starting MLB in 2026?

Heck no, I would hope Dallas has serious upgrades in mind for not just Wilson but Murray as well. Gotta do better. Either draft, trade or FA or all of the above. This defense needs to go up another couple notches.

If he has off season surgery then be a perfect one year prove it signing. At his age I wouldn’t want a long deal anyway. One year deals bring out the best in players
It’s a core muscle injury. Some type of hernia. Those abdominal surgeries are no joke for athletes.

He’ll take the biggest bag he can get and then end up fading away.

Clark is under contract for 20m already

Pickens will cost over $30m. Maybe over $35

We won’t know what we can do until after we restructure Dak and CeeDee for starters with a couple more likely
My bad for some reason thought he was a free agent - just saw his contract - 21 mil next year - ouch - that’s about 65 mil for the 3 DTs.

Either way we gotta get a MLB and DE - can’t go with Wilson and we need a pure pass rusher

We need four new defenders next year and have limited picks.

If Revel can hold down the starting corner spot, all we need is some depth at the position. Let’s hope they actually use fa to at least cover those other positions so we can take the best player available

First off if Wilson is back it won't be at $6M. I think he is back and at a reduced salary. I like him in a rotation. Murray needs to just be gone. I don't want him on the team for free. I think they may look LBer in the draft but they aren't spending for a good LBer in FA. Overshown has one spot locked up. Liufau and James will continue to improve. I think they add another middle of the road vet similar to Wilson to the group and another draft pick and those are your 2026 LBers

Pretty sure the Ravens will release Roquan Smith after this season ( cap issue ). Not sure if he's better than Wilson but he was drafted by Eberflus.
ummm...I am sure he is quite a bit better...

but we aren't paying him

I dont count Jerry's money like most fans on here but that 6 million price tag tells me no thanks. I need sideline to sideline type of backer to compliment Overshown
Most people don't count Jerry's money, you have a major fallacy working!!!!

This is what I don't want to see us do, create unnecessary holes that we have to fill. Because A) we will fill it with cheaper more questionable players or B) we will wedge ourselves into having to use a draft pick on a specific position. Keep what we've got and upgrade through the draft. If players are free agents and leave for greener pastures, then and only then use our method of FA to fill the spot and look to upgrade in the draft.

This front office has shown that it is not going to pay a premium for FAs so anyone expecting that is fooling themselves for the umpteenth time.
We're already 60 mil or so over the cap going into 26. We're going to have to do some major renegotiating just to keep Pickens, and hopefully Clark. Also creating room to sign a top FA does not appear to be doable.

I’m not sure he’ll even be on the team.

If he’s our starter then we haven’t done what we need to address the middle of the defense.

There’s a reason why he was so cheap he was almost free.
Yeah, I was wondering about that. He's had several injuries, might simply be done at 30.

We can get under with a few simple restructures. Dak will be one of them because his base salary is $40 million. He has a bunch of void years on the back end of his contract that we will push most of that into. Lamb's base is $25 million, so essentially those two restructures cover the $60 million. Anything else would create space. So I don't know if that's what you mean by "major renegotiating." Those restructures are built in and can be triggered by the team exactly for this purpose.

I don't see us signing any top FA because we never sign any top FA. It has little to do with the cap. It is a Jones philosophy. I think we'll work on re-signing a few of our own: franchise tagging Pickens, re-signing Javonte Williams, Clowney, Houston, Adeniji, maybe Donovan Wilson, maybe Fowler, our RFAs and our ERFAs.

I do think we may try to extend Clark's contract to get his cap hit down next year. We will do an extension with Tyler Smith that will lower his hit. We may try to extend Quinnen and lower his hit. We could restructure Diggs, Odighizuwa and Steele.

I mean, despite all we've done this year, we're still $22 million under the cap that we will carry over to next year, according to spotrac. When it's all said and done, next year will likely be similar to that.

Plus, there's this from USA Today:

I think a real MLB needs to be one of the first picks so no.

This is where Cowboy fans continue to have a disconnect with the team. They think if we release Wilson with his $6 price tag that we will replace him with a better FA. What we will replace him with is a cheaper FA.

It's like Kendricks last year. Dallas didn't bring him back and instead went and got Murray for a late-round pick. We don't need this front office doing a lot of bargain shopping. We need it to hold on to what it's got and draft players to compete with them. Don't create any holes when it looks like we've finally put together a decent roster. Work to improve some of those areas through the draft.

Now, I'd love a quality FA signing or two to improve our weakest spots, but that is not how this front office works.

You keep him because he can start. But you use him for depth.

He will be 30 before the start of the 2026 season.
- Speed is a question mark at this point.
- Salary for 2026 is 6M.

Other options:
Quay Walker not tendered 5th year option by GB because they don't want to pay him 14M per.
- He has missed the past 2 games with a injury issue "stinger".
- Age 25

Quincy Williams will be 30 before next season.

I don't even know he played baseball. 30 is kind of old to just get started in the MLB.

Quincy the LB will be 30, not Quinnen the DT...
Either way man I'm sticking to my comments Look I don't know what they're gonna do with the cap and how they're gonna figure out this all season I try to live in the now my man I I'm just enjoying football right now my Longhorns just beat the Aggies I mean we're on a three game win streak Both by teams have a shot at the playoffs I mean I'm feeling good I don't really give a **** seriously like about the draft or the offseason or how this is gonna look next year I know it should look better the year than it did this year.

So many question Marks and moving parts I'd rather not think about it right now we'll talk about that in february...

You do realize you've been around here enough right that whatever you're saying right now is going to be redundant it's going to be all set again in February when the clock runs out on our season and we start thinking about the draft for real real mock drafts are hitting We all know what the new cap number looks like we could have these discussions then because they're gonna have them anyway so why have them now?
