So it's looking like one WC could come from the West - Seattle and Rams. Interestingly enough, the team some around here thinks isn't that great - the Eagles - might be our allies late in the year as they play Seattle and the Rams back to back. We may need them to win one or both of those games.

I think GB will fold eventually and the Lions are just OK. So look to the South where the Panthers are 5-3 and Atlanta is 4-3. That game in Atlanta in two weeks is MASSIVE.

Especially since we lost to the Rams and GB. GB may not hurt as much if they continue to lose. But that lost to the Rams may come back to haunt us.

“Not a convincing victory” is an opinion. Not a fact.

It’s ok to have that opinion. But double digit road wins, on the road, against a division rival, in terrible weather conditions, aren’t exactly easy to come by either.

I mean yeah the cowboys didn’t blow them out. But they also dominated in several aspects of the game as well.
People...with a minute left they were a drive away from tying the game. They had no horses left to do it, if they did, our defense would have stopped them? I can only base my OPNIION ON GAMES THIS YEAR. Jeez, people I know winning cures all but put away the Pollyanna undies.
Show me a game when we can get out of our own way, and I'll start crowing about a win. I applauded all facets of last weeks game, but this was not complete, not by a long shot.

4-3 is not the end of the season but there are 4 wild card teams that can keep us our of the playoffs. The schedule looks tough but a 9-7 record and some help from those other teams, and we stand a chance of a wild card place.
Sorry 9-7 is not making a wild card this year. I’m not even sure 10-6 does. That falcons game is pivotal for tie breaking. We’re completing with the Rams,Falcons, Panthers for this wild card spots not gonna be good if Atlanta and LA both have the head to head tie breakers over us.

Carolina
Rams
Falcons
Cowboys are competing for the 2 wildcards IMO.

Division winners I see are:
Vikings
Seattle
New Orleans(look at their remaining schedule)
Eagles

The Raiders have fallen apart, and they'll play a Broncos team that also seems to have collapsed since our last game - and they get them AT HOME after they've played AWAY on MNF. (Thanks Goodell and Mara!! :banghead:)

Still 2 good teams. Weren't we just losing several games? It's any given Sunday. I'd get it if they had San Fran, Brown's and Giants. You still gotta play good football to beat Oakland, and Denver. Personally, I don't think Phili is as good as they're being pandered to be.

I would agree. They're a good, solid football team (the same as they have been for the past few years) - but nowhere close to world beaters. They're 3-0 in games decided by less than 5 points and have had some bounces go their way. To me, they're not a scary conference contender like the Packers, Seahawks, or Falcons of years past. They're just another playoff team at this point.

With a wide open NFC this year, they (as well as any other playoff entrant) could do damage but I just don't seem them as a dominant football team right now.

In the last 4 years only 1 team in the NFC with 10 wins has not made it to the playoffs. 1 think only 1 AFC team as well.

Make it to 10-11 wins and see what happens. I think 11 wins would be best case scenario right now and that is going to take a ton of defensive work.

LOL beating the Eagles twice is possible but so is the Cowboys winning the rest of their games and being 13-3 but it isn't likely to happen it's not realistic period.
The Eagles have the advantage right now and they have the division title right now that can change but we just have to wait and see what happens.
but more than likely the Eagles will win the division unless the Cowboys do win most of their last nine games. Plus the Eagles have to lose to somebody besides the Cowboys .
I really don't think the Cowboys will win out either.

I garnered two bits of information from that bloviation. 1) No denial that you are an Eagles fan. 2) When talking about what is possible, you don't look at both sides with the same fairness. No one is seriously talking about the Cowboys winning out and yet you seem to think that's what the Cowboys must do to a catch your team. Even funnier to me is you seem to think the Eagles will win out.

It's obvious a team with one loss has an advantage over a team with three loses... that's kindergarten math. However, saying that doesn't take into account that these two team still have to play each other twice.

Man, are you blind or what! The Eagles defense are for real!! The two games you think will be in our favor are likely to finish us for the year. I hope that we are not waiting until the last game (against the Eagles) to try and sneak into the playoffs.

If you say anything positive about the Eagles or make the fairly logical statement that it will be tough to win the division, you are automatically an Eagles fan.

Awesomeness right there. Pure awesomeness.

No, they get Chicago. Who sucks.

Look you can believe what you want but most of the analytics places will tell you what I just said. The Eagles have an easier remaining schedule than we do.
yes it could be that the remaining schedule is easier but that would mean they're 7 and 1 after playing the harder teams.

Most of the difference washes out when you take out the fact we have to play each other twice.

Either way, doesn't matter. 8 games is a lot of games and things change. Nobody was looking forward to playing ATL after week 3. Now, they don't seem all that scary. GB was a contender until they weren't. Nobody thought the Chargers game could be a lot harder than the Raiders game on paper, but it sort of looks that way now. In the Trolling the Nation thread, you see Chiefs fans complaining about playing the Cowboys now that our defense doesn't 'suck' and our offense and running game are on track.

I feel like a broken record, but Parcels is right: you just have to stay in contention through Thanksgiving, and then you can start to see how things are actually going to play out. Even then, you still get injuries, but the number of other variables start to narrow down and things become more obvious.

I am not an Eagles fan I am a NFL fan Cowboys are my main team but each year there are several teams that I get interested in , the Eagles are one of those teams this year, along with the Rams Buffalo Jacksonville and lately New Orleans I am impressed by their comeback.
I look at both sides I didn't say Dallas needed to win out and I didn't say Philly would win out.

I don't think Dallas can catch Philadelphia but if they do that's great. I think Dallas is basically playing for a wild-card spot right now but you never know.

Unless Wentz breaks both legs the Eagles will have to totally collapse for them to not get the Div champs. I know that things can and do happen but do try to be realistic!!
If they don't get someone to play left tackle better than Vaitai, Wentz might end up with two broken legs.

I guess I'm assuming that's a given.

The issue would be one each coming from Rams/Seahawks and Saints/Falcons/Panthers.
Detroit might hang around too, but it's those other two groupings that seem the most likely to challenge us for a wildcard--if we don't win the division.

The Falcons and Seahawks games are big.

I have the Eagles winning our division.

Minnesota takes the North.

Carolina and New Orleans come out of the South. Falcons miss the playoffs. Tough schedule

Seattle and Los Angeles from the West.
