But there is no guarantee so what kind of a hypothetical is that?

Philly had McCoy last year which in my opinion is a better back. And they actually did the stupid move. Which was pay Murray 8 million for 5 years. There is an article by Chip where he states that they knew because of Murrays injury history that they had to also sign another back in Mathews. And that 390 is way too much for Murray. So not only did they over pay for Murray, they had to sign another quality back for 7 million per year in Mathews. Waaaay stupid.

And they have no one to throw to, a fading Oline and a defense that isnt very good.

Ryan Mathews was signed 1 day before Murray and Mathews contract is only for 3.6 mill

Agreed. My concern is on some short yardage and goal line stuff. And if Randle gets hurt, no way can we rely on Mcfadden to carry the load. We need another guy that can handle 20 carries for a few games and get the dirty yards. McFadden cannot.

Right now we don't know what any of them can do.

Still, they are spending $15 million on three running backs in that offense.

I agree I think Philly spending 8 mill on Murray was too much. I will say this based on the QB they have I'm sure they will run as much as they can to keep him upright for the season and try to keep him in down and distance that gives him a chance to be successful.

It's strange how some Dallas fans cannot really embrace the idea of a rotation. The coaches talk about it. It's not like we are making this up.

Enough with that cherry picked 37 of 39 games crap. He missed multiple games in 3 out of 4 seasons. That says enough

Yeah and he got hurt again and sucked in December. Witten was taken out of mothballs and the passing game lifted us then.

Mathews agreed to a 3/11m deal before Murray signed but didn't make it official.

There were thoughts that Kelly would cancel the Mathews deal once Murray signed, but he decided the team would honor the verbal agreement.

There's never any guarantee's but had Murray remained with the Cowboys I liked their chances to reach the SB with the defensive additions they made. We strengthened an area of weakness but weakened an area of strength. Mathews has an injury history as well we'll see if he and Murray can stay healthy if they do Philly's going to have a potent running game. The Eagles are desperate for a SB win so they're going all out and Kelly reminds me a little of Jimmy.

Everyone is questioning the moves he's making just like they did with Jimmy. If Bradford can stay healthy and their rookie receiver can make up for the loss of Maclin the Cowboys are going to have a tough time getting past them. I know Jerry is holding his breath because he knows losing Murray to Philly could end up blowing up in his face.

Cherry picked would be some combination of games from 2012 to early 2014

This is the LAST 39 games played, period.

Oh yeah, RBs get banged up.

True, I think Philly spent a lot of running backs but as I mentioned if I had Sam Bradford as my QB I would be looking to run the ball quite a bit as well. I think Sam has been beat up and knocked around but I think if you give him a run game and keep him out of the 2nd and long/ 3rd and long he could turn it around. Sometimes you got to look at what teams are doing based on what they have and what they see, not just from a Cowboys fan stand point.

I refuse to talk about the preseason game last night like it is the regular season. Pointless.

You just need to be a little patient and wait until all our horses on the line and Dez get back. That should be this week.

I'm not looking at last Saturday's preseason game like it's a regular season game but I did expect better from the Cowboys than what I saw. I certainly haven't come to any conclusions based off those 2 games that would be silly.

and Garrett has talked about having a RB who can carry the vast majority of the load, if they were so gung ho on RBBC then Murray would never have gotten the carries he did last season. Randle would have taken on more of the load but didn't. I have no doubt they are selling the ideal of RBBC now because they have no choice. I also think they are hoping one of the RB can step up and show himself as a player who can be the lead RB who will get a good portion of the carries

McFadden is going to be the 3rd down back in my opinion. How hard is it for a RB to get 4 yards when the line pushes the first two?

As stiff as he is and his inability to make defenders miss he doesn't look the part of a 3rd down back. You can't just depend on the OL to push the pile for him he's got to show he can push the pile and scratch out the necessary yardage. You seem to think gaining 4 yards will be easy for him when he's only averaged 3.3 a carry the past 3 seasons.

The RB and HC have talked about the committee approach this year. Past years they talked about bellcows. It is what it is. I think Cowboys fans are hoping someone steps up to be like Emmitt or Tony. It's what Cowboys fans do.

Yah, I dont know that your getting it. You keep saying, "if he stayed healthy", that is my point, he cant stay healthy. One year out of 4 is not good enough. Emmitt Smith he is not.

I said he wasn't Emmitt apparently you're not getting it. Murray stayed healthy last season and when healthy he's one of the top backs in football. McFadden also stayed healthy last season but he still only averaged 3.4 a carry which was 3rd on the Raiders.
