Looking Like McFadden Will Be The Starter

YOu pretty much answered the question for me.

The ONLY way you take the back over the line is if its a guy like Early Cambell.

I used Campbell and Sanders as an example I'll take a "great" RB over a "great" OL. As long as I have a decent OL a "great" back will produce. A "great" back can make an OL look good Sanders made his OL look a lot better than it was. Julius Jones had a 1000 yard season behind what wasn't "great" OL several years ago. I already pointed out that Murray had 897 yards in only 7 starts behind a transitioning OL in 2011. He put up just over 600 yards in 4 games that season.

Most credit Emmitt's OL for his success but during his holdout in 93 the Cowboys dropped their first 2 games and his replacement never gained more than 75 yards in either game. Derrick Lassic averaged 2.7 a carry behind arguably the greatest OL in NFL history vs Wasington in a 13-10 loss. Emmitt averaged 5.2 a carry that season and none of the Cowboys other backs averaged more than 3.9 a carry. Lassic had 75 carries in 93 and only averaged 3.6 a carry. The back matters!

We have no idea at this point if last season was a fluke because the Cowboys were picked by many to be one of the worst teams in the league last and some had them picked as the worst. The season the Cowboys had last year came out of nowhere so they're going to have to have to validate it this season and it might not be easy to do without arguably their MVP from last season. We'll just have to see how this season plays out.

The only thing that could crash this run game back to worst is if Garrett starts calling plays again. And even then, you would have to think that he has to some extent seen the light at this point. Average running backs are not going to crash this run game with this line in this offense. The line pushes people 2 yards off the ball. I watched the games last year. Monster holes on a regular basis and a big push on a regular basis. Now we may or may not be able to dominate a team like Seattle on the road like we did last year with the run game, but I think our passing game, a few more big plays in the run game, and the increased defense will more than make up for that.

We've covered this enough time to move on.

One or two games doesnt prove a point.

Never the less, your argument here is moot. I havent heard anyone say that the RB doesnt matter.

I could easily point to both Emmitt and Aikman doing very little once the Oline broke down.

I used to think it was more the RB. But I have become convinced over the years that its more about the line then the back. And the ONLY argument that holds any water on the opposite side is by using some incredible back like Sanders and say the back matters more. ONLY in extreme cases does the back matter more. Only when its one of the best of all time.

He had 4 snaps and had to be held out of 7-on-7 drills because of a sore neck.

The quicker they understand that Randle is the main guy, the better we are going to be. Hopefully it wont take a loss or two for them to figure it out.

This discussion has been exhausted.

So if Murray averaged around 5 yards per carry the other years and the Oline isnt as important, then why didnt Murray put up big numbers the other 3 years?

Because of missed games due to injuries. Are you even following this discussion? Murray averaged 4.8 a carry his 4 seasons in Dallas.

The new title for this thread:

But he isnt injury prone? Interesting.

Now he only missed 2 games in 2013 so why didnt he have a great year like last year?

Never said he wasn't injury prone. He didn't have as great a year in 2013 as last season because not only did he miss 2 games but he was nagged by an injury he played with plus the Cowboys OL got better. No one ever said the OL hasn't contributed to his success it clearly has but the point I've made and proven is he's produced behind every OL the Cowboys have put in front of him.

First of all Murray is not a great running back.

Second of all please be joking. You build from the trenches.

He was a great RB last season. You build by adding a solid QB and go from there.

Posts like what KJJ just said just proves that he has never played the game. smh

He thinks that one man (running back) is more important than 5 big uglies. Only a tennis player of golfer would say such asinine things.
