He had a great season. He isn't even in the top 5 at his position in ability and his availability will always be a question.

But come on what's important is you think having a great rb is better than having a great OL.

You should....stop.

Murray is clearly a top 5 RB in ability and you should stop before you end up cornered like the last time you wouldn't stop. LOL I was asked what's more important to a running game the OL or the back and I chose the back because most of the "great" backs made plays and had HOF careers behind good to decent OL's. We never heard much about Payton's, Dickerson's, Sanders or Campbell's OL's. We don't here much about Peterson's OL. Not saying their OL's weren't good but they certainly weren't the Great Wall of Dallas.

It would have been cool if he was here. It will be interesting to see if he can duplicate that.

Emmitt stayed with the Cowboys for his success, Herschel and Tony D. moved on to another team. That is why I believe that Emmitt had success, because he wanted to represent the Dallas Cowboys along with his teammates.

"Don't leave the one that brought you to the dance". - That is what Murray did...

They insulted him with the 4/16m offer. They have to read the market better than that. If you don't want to pay, don't insult him.

A man will never get over being slighted.

I'm happy for him...but don't care for him anymore.

He is the enemy! lol

That is fine and I won't root for him anymore, but I won't downgrade what he accomplished for us to try and feel better about Randle and McFadden.

I was angry when he signed with the Eagles but I don't hate him. He wanted to stay here. I'll root against him when we play him but I wish him no ill will. That doesn't go for the Eagles though whom I loathe.

I've never seen a player provide as much for their team as Murray did for the Cowboys last season and be portrayed as a goat. One point on the comment I made previously a player can be better than another statistically but that doesn't mean they're a better player. There were several QBs back in the 90s who had better stats than Aikman but they weren't better QB's.

1. He's not being portrayed as a goat.

2. He didn't do it all by himself.

Go read to some of the comments concerning his fumble in the Green Bay game many blame him for the loss. No he didn't do it all by himself but he's a much better player than he's being given credit for.

You won't find a more screwed up FAN base than the Cowboys have. Many spent the entire offseason downplaying and criticizing the accomplishments of a player who carried the team on his back to the playoffs and received two MVP votes in the process. This is a FAN base that booed Troy Aikman in favor of Randall Cunningham and couldn't wait to replace Emmitt Smith with Troy Hambrick.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

Putting a good to great RB behind a potentially great line is better than having 2 average backs.

If you can't admit that you are just being obtuse.

Well yes. And if there was no salary cap we'd have done just that. You should see if we can remove the cap in the next CBA....until then i'll remain with the Cowboys on choosing 5 guys over 1.

I haven't seen Randle or McFadden play yet. They have some big shoes to fill.

Let's see if Randle can "eat all the meat on the bone"... lol

The other night Randle looked like he could eat the meat off the bone, but McFadden looked like he was licking an ice cream cone !

Exactly. It's also a fanbase that tries to justify the moves being made any way they can. If we signed Murray back, none of this talk would be going on. But since he signed with Philly, now he's overrated, all the OL, etc, etc. It's comical what people are saying to make themselves feel better about the 3 stooges we have at RB.

We downgraded big time and anyone saying otherwise is naivem, foolish or just ignorant. Murray is so much better than what we have it isn't funny. He could do it all. Randle can't pass block to save his life.

What happened when Emmitt's backup played in place of him? Not good. But wait, he was running behind that hall of fame line, right? Sure was. But contrary to the jibberish people spit out how all RBs are the same, they aren't. Doesn't matter how good your OL is. If you aren't talented, you aren't going to utilize the holes they open for you.

Why choose???

We are 10m under the cap.

Take 1m from McFadden and we need 4m for Murray

We owe Hardy a good chunk of that. Have to pay the PS. Need money for injury replacements throughout the season. And most importantly we have many guys to sign over the next 5 years that the team budgets for and should budget for and needs to budget for.

The organization was prudent. We should applaud that not scoff at it.

I'm on record for not wanting to resign Murray during the season. Can't speak for anyone else.

And that's fair. There were those.

And like I said, I was not opposed letting a back go that had that much workload as the numbers show their next season is a steep decline.

My issue is what we did once he left. We essentially added McFadden. Which is a huge downgrade. And just moved Randle and Dunbar up the depth chart, which are also downgrades. We downgraded significantly at a very key position of our offense last year. You didn't see Seattle let Lynch go. Because they know they have something good. Who cares if you have to pay a little more than what you want. That's life in general. You don't always come out on top because you cut corners and saved money. Scared money doesn't always win.

If you are going to boldly make a move like, better have a plan on the replacement. And McFadden is hardly that. Or Randle/Dunbar.

Might as well have kept him.

Not even close to the same. This team was dead in the water when he went to Arizona. Not a 27yr old who still had tons left in the tank that just led his team to a 12 win season. Emmitt was simply just wanting to pad his rushing stats at this point and we didn't want to pay him to do that.
