First off, I think they have been using Pollard too much. He doesn't look as explosive as years past. Bummer that Dowdle was hurt, he looks real good, but to be honest, his problem in the past has been staying healthy. Vaughn yesterday was brought in to kill the clock, runs up the middle where he was met yards behind the line of scrimmage and after we lost Martin.
Look I'm a Cowboys fan, not a player fan. Vaughn put up big numbers against some big name defenses in colleges. Having said that, if he can't cut the mustard, well then bye. To be honest, I wish it was Hunter getting those carries up the middle when we were killing the clock, I can't fathom why it was Vaughn?
That's my biggest question? Why not swing Vaughn out for some passes or run him wide...And why not use Hunter to pound it? It's like the coaches are in opposite world?
Polly never did look explosive when running up the middle. He's a space back, we're trying to make him what he is not.

we are not using him right, design play for him so he can use his moves on smaller defenders.

He barely has any positive yards.
So. How many touches does he have with the starters in and game time that is meaningful? None. Is that his fault? No. But go ahead and bash away.

Not many touches with the starters, but that tells you what the team thinks of him right now. Maybe they have a plan on using him more as the season goes on, but if this is all we’re going to get from him this season is a few meaningful carries along with some mop up carries in blowouts and he’s not making any plays he won’t make the team next season. If he could break off one big run with some of the opportunities he gets it could lead to a lot more opportunities when games are still in the balance. One big, electrifying play like we’ve seen on his college highlights could change a lot of things.

My main concern with Deuce is he hasn't shown he is good at picking up the free rusher in pass pro.
Yesterday, I saw two plays where he didn't block anyone, and the rusher got to Dak.

I still haven't forgotten Romo getting his shoulder broken due to a rookie FB (little Gronk) not picking up the free rusher vs the EaGirls.

Vaughn damn near killed Dak and only averaged two yards a carry.

Luepke is a beast and can give opposing defenses pause on the goaline. He mans up and can keep Dak clean..

I never liked the Vaughn selection and it looks like a failure. Practice squad at best.
come on, if you were a scout for the team you would want your tiny person son on the team.

Go deuce, gooo..........ah sorry little guy

Vaughn pick is inconclusive at this point. Offensive line has been musical chairs and the offense overall hasn't done really anything 4 games in.

Welcome to the NFL Deuce. They need to work on getting him the ball in space on the move. Short dump off passes so he can get past the DL and into open spaces.
Im sure this is what they will do when they bring him on. Sunday, once Dowdle got hurt, the next 2 backs from Pollard was Vaughn and Luepke. Don't there was a plan or anything to be handing the ball off to Vaughn til Dowdle got hurt which is why we saw him pass blocking. weeks before we saw limited snaps but when he did get the ball it was in space.

It’s not looking good for Vaughn, he’s very limited as to what he can do. He can’t block and isn’t very effective running between the tackles. Dowdle could be out for a while, and Vaughn isn’t even being mentioned to replace him. We’re hearing Luepke and Malik Davis. So far Vaughn has been a wasted roster spot. He’s had 17 carries for only 33 yards, averaging 1.1.
The math aint mathing. You meant 1.9

I agree but the problem is when he is in there that is exactly what the defense is looking for. One thing is clear, Deuce needs to be going north-south. He has really short legs and even though they are moving fast, in the NFL everyone is moving faster. He cannot go sideways. When he is turned upfield he can use his cutting ability to make guys miss. He cannot do that when he runs to the sidelines.

Luepke is big but he has the ability to make the first cut and get into the open space. I want to see him get more chances running the football.

No it doesn't. Not in the least. By the time your 3rd stringer is ready to get in the game the backups are in. The Cowboys haven't been in close games at the end.

I’m sorry, but they don’t sign players with a role as a mop up duty player when games are under control. He’s not even being mentioned to replace Dowdle if he has to miss time. Looks like it’s going to be Malik Davis.

I'd like to see more Leupke both carries and some short passes set up by him carrying the ball early. Maybe with Pollard on the field at the same time too.

I think you're missing what Mike McCarthy 's doing during all these blowouts he's putting deuce Vaughn as a regular running back not putting any special plays in and this is what he wants the rest of the league to see one of these days it's gonna automatically you're gonna see deuce bond being used properly he's going to have some plays that are actually gonna be successful and how can it be a bad selection at what 6th rounder or what are you kidding me Oh yeah the total waste man we get so many great players in that slot I mean I don't even know what to do... But I promise you he's toying using these games because we're up so much as scrimmages he's messing with plays using guys at a place just trying to show his hand and then when it comes to a game where they put deuce fawn in and then teams think that's what's coming something else is about to come from the other hand I think deuce bond can be used like kevonte Turpin and he's not being and there's a reason for it and it's gonna happen down the road.. We didn't need a thread that said that you think that hunter is better than Vaughn because it really doesn't matter we're going to find out after 17 games that they're all Dallas Cowboys with stars on their helmet and I don't care where they were picked or how much they were used but I want to talk about it after the season....

Yes right now hunter might look like a better choice but dude that can change in a heartbeat and I'm excited to see them all succeed in some way or another... In other words you're overreacting just like the other threads about mazzy and the other rookies were four games in and you think your eyes are seeing one thing and I think Mike McCarthy 's doing this on purpose that's the feeling I'm getting watching what he's doing and all these blowouts I'm seeing him bringing and running plays with guys I don't think they're gonna be running those plays when they get serious there's wrinkles coming off every one of those formations with those packages of players and it's gonna be completely different than what you just saw...
