LVE changed this defense. Dak still a liability

i mentioned about a week ago, with some blowback, that our D is borderline top 5 and could heat up near the end of the season. I didn’t think they would look THIS good, but we may have just mentally broken the Saints.

LVE is the #1 reason for this, he has changed the entire way this defense plays, which is becoming far more aggressive with tackling and getting takeaways. While I’m still not completely sold on our secondary, Awuzie and Brown stepped up last night.

The offense is a different story - this is reminding me a lot of what we saw last year with the Jags. Yeah, it was great we dominated the clock, but we put up 0 points in the second half and topped out at 13 points.

I don’t like Dak, but there were some positives - that run where he broke two tackles for the first, that got me pumped up....then goes on to miss Gallup who would have the game clinching TD and proceeds to fumble in the red zone. You gotta make those plays, dude.

You can win a Super Bowl with the level the D is playing at right now - but the missed opportunities that we had last night and the turnover, most of the time great offenses will take advantage of these and luckily our D broke the Saints.

Some kudos needs to go to Garrett - I think he feels his seat pretty much on fire right now and he had this team prepared against the most dangerous team in the league. Jerry, see what happens when you don’t allow your coaches and players to ever feel they have job security?
I think LVE was a key piece of the defense coming together. I think Jaylon is now 100% healthy and we can see how his game has been elevated. Also, having Byron jones becoming such a shut down corner. the three pieces have helped solidify this defense. with Jaylon and LVE, we have two sideline to sideline players that can stay with the TEs, drop into zones, play in space and limit outside runs and can thump in the middle. Jones takes half the field away (I am not saying he is Deion), so it limits the offense on what they can do.

the offense and the game plan are predicated on couple of things. run the ball first. zeke is the key cog to the offense and we struggle without him. we have seen that in 2017. we see that when he is out of the game. run the ball. minimize mistakes. keep games close. have a chance in 4th quarter. we struggle and have struggled when down by couple of scores in the 4th as we can't pass our way to make it close.

so Dak does play a part in all of it. minimize mistakes, make occasional plays. when he does. we have a chance and have won. when he doesn't like the panthers, titans or first Commanders game, we lose.

Which proofs my point. YPA is a combination of a play made by a QB AND a Receiver.
I think the better indicators is yards per pass attempt down field. which takes out of the equation YACs. are YACs important. yes, some QBs and plays are designed for that. but it shows how far down field does the QB attack the defense.

Hey! What NFC QB has won more games than any other since 2016? Not Rodgers, not Brees - Dak Prescott. You can't say we had an elite defenses in 2016 and 2017. You cant say the offensive line was dominant last year and this year. Our whole receiving crew has been replaced. Dak and Zeke are the only constant and you dont win more games than Brees and Rodgers because of a RB alone.

He is not a perfect QB by any means, but this liability crap is ridiculous.
can you run that stat for 2017 and 2018....thank you...time to stop milking 2016....where dak was 23rd in passing and 18th in TDs against all other QBs....we had #1 rushing offense and an all time great OL play.....

Some of you guys wear this Dak stuff out and need to stop listening so much to the Cowboys hating media outlets. He was like 24 of 28 or something like that....that's hardly a liability.......he does have a couple of critical things that need correcting and hopefully the off season will bring in some competent coaching in to address that............Garrett + Linehan + Moore aren't competent enough to coach up anybody.
at the end of the day, we scored 13 points. with 24 completions for 250....against the 30th ranked pass defense in the league that was giving up 290 yards per game....Dak plays it safe. and nothing wrong with that, as the coaches realize that and actually game plan for it.....25% of his completions was screens/dump offs to zeke. and coaches are taking advantage of that and even saints said that its a play that dallas goes to when things are not going well....

Why were we never even at least wild card favorites with prime Romo then?

Romo was 3rd tier qb trash on the level of Andy dalton
we never had a top 3 defense. we had to win by outscoring opponents almost every game. it was on offense and Romo to carry the team to wins....here we let defense close out games. when we couldnt' do that in the past.

Any given Sunday. The cowboys are good enough to beat the best team in the league and at times pathetic enough to lose to the worst

There is a lot of parody in this league . I love Dak but he pisses me off holding the ball like he does but it’s also compounded by the line especially at RT. There are plays when the defender is there quick. Also they don’t handle stunts well. No Fredrick no Tyron will contribute to that

Collins sucks. It’s also compounded by the coaches not putting Dak in a the position to be successful

The line got a bit better when Williams went to the bench and the offense in general got better with addition of cooper

Dak wins and that should be the focus he’s young and has a lot that needs to be improved but if your expecting him to be like Romo ( who was flawed also especially early on) you are going to drive yourself to drink

We are not a qb away from a championship we are probably a OC a Good TE a healthy line and perhaps safety as well as improved qB play away

Relax and enjoy the ride is what I do. Dak probably helped contribute to a couple losses this year no doubt but let’s not forget he also has been key in wins

This is team game and when I look at the front page of every forum I visit I know that it’s a hot button topic and is over exaggerated and agenda driven

I'm right there with ya.

Every team has weaknesses and issues. I agree with everything you said.

I enjoy watching the Boys and pull for whoever is out there wearing the Star.

Title alone tells you everything you need to know as to how this team is even 7-5.

A LVE is a stud and Dak sucks thread. Wow. Groundbreaking.
Did you mention that New Orleans held Zeke to 3.3 yards per carry? So.....the only way we were going to control the clock was through a highly efficient passing game? In other words, exactly the performance that Dak delivered? If Dak had played poorly, Brees would have had several more chances and we would have lost.

But, but, but, but...he fumble, and missed one pass...he not perfect....yep, just like Brees, the guy that is considered the best QB in 2018. Who Dak outdueled.

LOL Yes, compared Dak to Brees, one is below Alex Smith, the other is HOF bound.

Brees can afford to have 1 bad game a season.

LVE makes Byron a better corner and makes Jaylon take on OL like a truck. LVE is the reason Tank is a beast. I like the kid too but come on man

Jaylon is still a low IQ linebacker. He plays well next to players like LVE and Sean Lee - not a player you want to build a defense around.

Give it a rest. Dak gets blamed for everything. Good gracious granny, can't everyone just enjoy the win. We get that people don't like Garrett, Dak, Linehan.

Dak carried the team to the play-offs as a rookie. The team had a ton of adversity last season. This year the team cut Dez, lost Witten and Frederick. The team tried to upgrade the line coach which was an obvious failure.

Jerry and Garrett fire the O-line coach.
Jerry trades for Cooper.
Dallas starts winning consistently with Dak as the QB.
Dallas beats the best team in the NFL.
Most fans enjoy their day and basked at how this team rallied as a team with all 46 players contributing to the team win.

Dak had a rating of 115.5 and completed 86% of his passes.

We did win, right? Am I missing something?

You see that right there is the type of **** that would make a team suffer for years to come if managed by dudes like you.

Why complain, we won right? So what are you saying only complain when we lose?

It's like saying why complain your girl or boyfriend cheated, you guys won a million dollars.

Just Because you decide to sit back and smell the roses and ignore any potential problem dosendo make you a good fan.

You mean Sean Lee and LVE are low IQ. Jaylon is the only linebacker between the 3 that displays he's intelligent. Sean Lee and LVE seem to be mentally incapable but thanks to jaylon they're doing alright.

Why would you want to see Marc Colombo get fired as our OL coach? Don't you realize he just took over for Alexander with the OL performing markedly better than they had under Alexander? He also has had Hudson Houck serving as his advisor/mentor, who has long been recognized as an OL guru. They have, by and large, been considered lately as a blessing as compared to what we had previously in Alexander.

Could that be what you're missing, by any chance? I seriously doubt Dallas would have beaten New Orleans if it weren't for that recent change in the OL coaching. I'm blaming any degree at all of difficulty in our pass blocking on the injuries that were sustained by Tyron Smith and the absence of Frederick at center. Despite that, the backups at those respective spots have done quite admirably, all things considered.
