Lee doesn't have to play the whole game now with a good rotation of quality linebackers. In theory it should help preserve those hammies! Also it'll help keep the lb core with more fuel to finish games.

Joe Thomas isn't a bad LB either. I'm happy that we are 5 deep at LB and a high potential developmental guy in Covington and Queiro

Have each LB(Smith, Lee and LVE) play 66% of the snaps.
Between the 3 of them it'll roughly equal 200%. Past game or two both LVE and Smith were at 98% each of total snaps on D IIRC.

At this point I don't care who's playing linebacker between the 2. That really pleases me. Last year I was holding my breath reading the injury report.

This thread would have been absurd even a few weeks ago, but I believe that I agree. The Sean Lee that we've seen this year, when healthy, seems one step slower. I don't think he loses his starting job, but I expect the Cowboys to significantly reduce his number of snaps.

3. LVE is a big guy. He will probably end up being 260 pounds. Guys go down when he hits them. Lee was always a bit undersized.
4. LVE is very quick. Big man who is a glider but man he covers ground. Smith is more of a quick twitch player but LVE is extremely fluid for a big man. Lee was always quick but has no advantage over LVE in speed.
5. LVE has been excellent in coverage. That was his rep and he has been good. Long limbed guy that is tough to throw around.
6. LVE is just starting to come into his own. He will get bigger and with more experience...

I hope they don’t stunt his growth when Lee is healthy.

Perhaps the early on Urlacher comparisons won’t be as far fetched as some had thought. He’s looking very Urlacher-ish out there right now. Happy to be surprised by the early returns. :)

LVE was drafted in the 1st round for a reason.

Sean Lee was drafted in the 2nd round.

Talent-wise, we can see the difference.

I read fine, thank you. We're talking about LVE as a Cowboy, i.e., an NFL player. That's what threw me off. I'm thinking why would you compare LVE to Boz in college. But the additional context of tackling helped clarify. Thank you.

LVE was the kind of LB you need to run a 3-4 defense that Parcells was trying to implement.
