Can someone please tell us this isn't happening?
I'll give it a shot!
*We have an owner that basically sells everything that he can from his past stadium, down to bags of concrete, and you have people buying it.
I think the fact that people are actually buying it pretty much answers the question here. If you could sell your turds, would you not due to the overall value they hold to you?
*We have an owner who, despite what a lot of the zoners have to say about the subject, has indeed made a joke of the head coaching position on his team. Just show me one bona fide head coach who can't talk to the media. Name me one IN ANY SPORT. This is a first, and it makes it just like he likes, Jerry, Jerry, more of Jerry, nothing but Jerry.
It being a first doesn't make it a bad decision. You sight it disregards conventional wisdom; I say it's innovation in response to a desperate need.
*We have an owner who on the one front is gonna chew some butt and on the other front has agreed to the Cowboys version of Pros vs. Joes
Are you saying the draft is the only place to find talent that can play in the NFL? Honestly, while the timing is horrible, the idea is sound. There are people out there who can play football on a professional level. They may need grooming, but they are worthy of a look. And since they are only guaranteed a spot in training camp and not on the 53 man roster, I think it's another example of innovation that could turn out to be genius.
*We have an owner who doesn't even try to hide is megalomania any more. He now just comes out and says that no one knows it like him. Wow
He was referring to his team, not knowledge of football. And on that, he is correct. No one knows the interworking and correspondence that transpires in that team like him. I'm not sure what the problem with that assessment is, unless you are a reporter disguised as a blogger. JJT is that you? Galloway? Mosley?
And on top of it all, there are host of people who applaud it all and say THERE YOU GO, MEDIA TYPES, YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE.
I'm not sure how anybody could think that the media is reporting news as it is, as opposed to their output being poisened by the motivation of selling what sells, which at the moment is drama. Twisting his gag order into this huge mistake, for instance, is a perfect example of why the media is considered a monster. I mean, honestly, how does this effect how the team will perform in 09? Really?
Do you really think the media makes this team the joke that it is at times? Do you think the media makes Jerry Jones the laughing stock clown that he is?
Yes. Yes I do. I don't see him as a joke in the least bit. I see him as a man who loves football, loves his team and the city that his team resides in, wants to win and is willing to do anything in that effort. On the flipside of the coin, I see that he is human and, as such, is proned to error. It happens. So long as he maintains want, success, something he has known very well in his life, is not too far in front of him.
I've got news for you. The EVIL media just reports it. They don't have to drum anything up around this team, Jerry Jones gives them loads of fun every season.
Seriously? How blind are you? The "Jerry calls Barber a wuss" headline should tell you everything you need to know about how the media "drums up" the news. I realize you are upset in the wake of the most disappointing season in the history of the Cowboy's, but just know your expectations are the results of the media dubbing this team the paper champions. Granted, Jerry Jones has his aspirations, but what owner doesn't at the beginning of the season. The media is the one that picked the Cowboy's to win the Super Bowl. And we all bought it.
Say what you want, call me what you want, but this team has never been at a lower point in my estimation. They have been lower talent wise. They have been lower record wise. But they have never been lower in terms of how this team is currently functioning on a leadership level.
Even in the Campo days Jerry TRIED to leave the PERCEPTION that Campo was in charge. He doesn't even pretend anymore.
I've already said what I want, I'm going to call you a mediot blinded disappointed fan, who I understand very well, and the point this team is at right now is the offseason, where it really doesn't matter what the perception is, at the end of the day. Why? Because none of it effects who this team will be in 09. For all we know, in training camp, this team will be sick of the perception and renew their ranks with the overall attitude that this team is better than what their 08 selves showed. In the end, though, we don't know. Being upset now serves no one's purpose but maybe the media; and I think they do a good enough of a job on their own creating drama.
