And the games prove the defense is winning, not the offense. What if Dallas gave up more than a single touchdown in all of Rush's starts so far? Then his record wouldn't look so good right now. The Cowboys are playing complementary football right now but this win streak is not sustainable unless Rush and the offense vastly improve.

Yet Rush has been more effective than Dak.
So where would the Cowboys look for an upgrade?

That's valuable, can't ask more of a backup (though other backups have won the SB), nice that he's over achieved. With what he's accomplished, other teams will be hot after him, if not for a starting job then for his back up abilities. So, does Rush want big bucks? A starting job? Both?

If he's as smart as he appears to be, he'll stick around with a team he's familiar with, with a good young defense and take whatever Jerry offers him (if it's a decent offer) and be able to make good money while being under no pressure to take Dak's job. Pretty sure he understands he's not really NFL starting quarterback caliber, why risk being a starter somewhere else and not being as successful as he is at Dallas?

But as a side note, saying he won't be considered as a starter somewhere else isn't for sure, we've seen some NFL owners make some really stupid player decisions, wouldn't be the first time!

Short of Rush carrying the team, no dragging the team along there is no way he's coming out of this match up as our starter. That's not hate, and it's not agenda. It's just the way it is.

Those who want Cooper Rush to start the rest of the season have real low standards for the QB position. Our defense is having to carry the team because our 27th ranked offense hasn’t scored more than one TD in each of our five games this season. If it wasn’t for our defense and Brett Maher nailing most of his FGs we would be no better than 1-4 or 0-5.

They have changed the offense to plays that are easy for Rush. He doesn’t have real good zip on the ball. A few of his passes should have been intercepted. Take it out of his hands with quick throws. He is not going to beat anybody with his arm.
The defense is winning games for the Cowboys not Cooper Rush.
I believe with Dak, it’s mental now. They are trying to make him this gun slinger, which he is not.
They need to get an offensive plan together just like the one they have in place for Rush. The difference being , when it’s time to throw deep Dak is much better than Cooper ever will be.
Cooper Rush is doing what a backup QB does. He is just proving that he is a real good backup. That’s it. He won’t be a starter in this league unless it’s with a QB killer team that lures him in with cash.
Dak will be the starter when he is healthy. The Cowboys are playing very well as a team and hopefully Dak will realize he doesn’t have to be something he’s not. I think that starts with our genius OC.

The defense is play leaps and bounds above the offense, but the offense is doing its job of putting up the points that are needed to win.
I would not be surprised if in one game this year the offense will be playing well and the defense falters in a game. I hope it is not this week or any week this year.

As the second post one would have hoped it would have ended the thread. Alas, I see that isn’t the case. Dak comes back and plays horribly for his first 3 games then who knows, but for now Rush could throw for 350 + 2 TDs and Dak still gets to come back.

If this thread was about Rush playing for a chance to start next year on a different club, I’d buy that.

Rush would legitimately have to put up some numbers that would rival a top-rated passer in the league. He'd also need to show that he can put the team on his back and carry them to victory when other phases of the team are having an off day. He's demonstrated none of these things thus far. Rush manages the game very well as a backup QB, while Kellen Moore calls plays within his limitations. Rush hasn't won anything yet; the defense, running game, and special teams are winning games. To say he's winning discredits the rest of the team's efforts because no QB wins a game throwing for 102 yards with a 6.4 average. If you're unwilling to acknowledge this, you're being disingenuous.

I think you are confused.
The Owner of the team is going to have Dak as the starter of the Dallas Cowboys, not the fans.
I certainly don’t think Jerry is waiting on what you think about Dak. to base his decision.
Dak is the QB for the Cowboys( good or bad) and if you and some other people don’t like it, why don’t you do everybody a favor and switch teams.
I’m a fan of the Dallas Cowboys for 45+ years, not individual players. It’s a Team sport.
Picking sides on players that play on the same team that you supposably cheer for is just stupid. Especially when you are comparing a backup to a starter QB in the NFL.
Dak is a top 10 QB in the league and if you think a good backup is going to take his spot when he is healthy you are just as delusional as some of the other dead wood on this forum.
