Classless or not, it was pretty stupid to have Favre throwing in that situation. If he gets hurt 1 week before the NFC Championship in a game that's already been decided, then what??

An idiot move by Childress and he's lucky it didnt cost em.

Personally I believe that was Favre's call all the way. No NFL coach (except maybe Buddy Ryan) would put his starting qb at risk under those circumstances.

4th and 3, ball at the Dallas 11 with 1:55, Minn leading 27-3, and you go play action and throw for the end zone.

That's pretty much the definition of not treating your opponent with respect.

amen. there was no point in it.

its like a manager who has a player bunt when the other guy is throwing a no hitter in the ninth inning.

Its just a part of sports, some people can understand that and some others have this really low rent point of view that it is just ok to do whatever you want.

To me its even bigger because it was a playoff game. This would be something to be frowned on if it was a regular season game, but to do that in that spot of a playoff game was really poor.

and like laufenberg said on the broadcast it was uncalled for and it will taint their victory going forward.

I can not wait until we go up there next year and they roll out tavaris jackson.

I earned a ton of respect for wade. Kristie scales said wade threw his headset as far as he could and it ended under the bench and he was yelling on the sideline and that grantham and herring were livid.

Wade still shook his hand and still complimented favre after the game. That earns my respect and tells me more than ever wade is somebody worth rooting for.

I do believe it was an audible on behalf of Brett.

After the score, Childress was talking with him and Brett mouthed "Yeah, I know...I know."

Andy Reid is Brad's boyfriend and he probably didnt like how we kept Romo in there in Week 17.

Yet Jimmy has a few rings that all of our fans are proud of.;)

I don't recall Jimmy not taking every opportunity he had to destroy an opponent.

C'mon..I could understand kicking a field goal to make it THIRTY TO THREE, but a playaction pass?

It was an obvious ploy to rub Dallas' face in...that's all it was.

It wasn't "playing 60 minutes because anything can happen."

It wasn't "well they're throwing it all four downs so we better do the same since the SCORE IS SO FREAKIN' CLOSE..."

Total joke.

I disagree.

That is the very epitome of playing 60 minutes of football.

Honestly, besides seeing Marc Columbo getting owned the entire game, Keith Brooking going over to Minnesota Bench and complain about the score being ran up made me sick to my freaking stomach.

Make a dang on play if you don't like the score being ran up on you.

The Vikings played the game with a chip on their shoulders and absolutely "WILLED" themselves to the NFC Championship Game.

Dallas, not so much.

I didn't like that Minnesota ran the score up but this is Professional Football, if you don't come to play for 60 minutes, then as Emmitt Smith said about doing this against the 2007 Patriots, "You will be blowed out".

I hope it's the last TD pass Favre completes this season, but not for his career. I want Dallas to have another shot at him next year.

I think this topic is a little more complicated than some people recognize or want to admit.

People need to keep in mind that sportsmanship is relative through space and time. It's not written in stone somewhere on a mountain. It's basically the same as good manners -- it's culturally relative. Spitting on the street in China is normal; it's rude here. Lighting up a cigarette in public in America used to be perfectly normal. Now it's illegal in many circumstances. Nothing like this informal rule exists, when you think about it, in soccer or hockey or tennis. However, running the score up in football has traditionally been seen as bad sportsmanship. I like that rule and would like it to stay but 10 or 20 years from now it'll probably be a thing of the past.

BUT for the time being it IS bad sportsmanship to run up the score in football in America. I hope the Saints beat the Vikings and I hope the players use this as motivation next year.

I don't blame Brooking for getting a little hot but, in the end, if they're looking for someone to be pissed at, try the mirror.

I understand what you're saying and I respect your opinion but I don't think it has anything to do with "playing 60 minutes".

Put it this way...if Minnesota is up by 10 points in the 4th quarter, do they still go for it on 4th down there or do they kick the field goal?

My point is that there was no rhyme or reason for the Vikings to a) go for it on 4th down or b) run a playaction pass. Dallas would still have to drive 90 yards to make the score 27-10! A field goal would've made it 30-10!

The goal is to win, not to embarrass the other team.

We have a different view of sports then. It is a very mediocre way to see sports as just something to win even if its for 1 point, me as a fan i want my team to score as many points as possible and make the other team score the less possible points. Why would you win for just 10 points if you can win for 40 ? Players should play for their fans, not for the opposite players or the opposite fans.

Who was "looking to Jimmy for insight"? I quoted him because I agree with what he said.

I don't like grown men to act like women. Football is a man's game. If you want "class" and sportsmanship"...go play golf!...and don't forget to tee off from the ladies Tee.

Hammer ;)

Marty b just said on the postgame show that what favre and the vikings did was wrong and did not show respect to the game and that the team already talked about it in the locker room because we go up there next year again.

He said they already beat us and there was no reason to embarrass us.

Thank you marty b.

Favre and childress are going to regret that, no doubt about it...you simply dont do that stuff.,
boo *** hoo. stop them if you don't like it.

I disagree.

The Rhythm and Reason was just as Troy Aikman and Joe Buck said, "To send a message".

Earlier this week, I started a thread where I wondered out loud if the Minnesota Players, especially their 2 Offensive Tackles would feel absolutely disrespected about how the media was giving them no chance and talking about how terrible they were.

You don't think ABSOLUTELY destroying the hottest team in the NFC and everyone's sexy pick to go to the Super Bowl doesn't send a message to New Orleans?

New Orleans won't be scare because they have great players too, but that score definitely put them on notice.

34-3 tells the Saints, you bring your A game and then some if you are going to beat us.

yeah and marty did, he was very complimentary of how great allen is and how great their defense played. he gave them all the credit and said their defense is and did play great.

And that is the point, it was already proven everyone knew it. Both teams would hate to have guys get hurt late and they run that play.

Without sportsmanship none of these sports would be around right now.

What favre did today was nonsense, everyone knows it. If deion sanders or owens did something like this he would get grilled. But the almighty favre will get a pass cause of who he did it against.

I find throwing a meaningless td with less than 2:00 to play in a game that was already decided to be childish, petty and classless.

To each his own.
