Man, we just weren't meant to upgrade the WR position this year. Not saying that Matt would of have been an upgrade.

Hello all. Sorry for more Matt Jones threads---as we've been beaten to a pulp with this stuff. However, there is news out that Jones was arrested this morning....so you Jones lovers may find him available soon.

"Jags WR Jones arrested: WJXX-TV and WTLV-TV report that Jaguars WR Matt Jones was arrested Thursday morning in Fayetteville, Ark., and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Jones was a disappointment in 2007, which was his third year in the NFL. He finished with 24 catches for 317 yards and four touchdowns and was inactive for four games and was inconsistent when he did play. In his final four games, Jones had three touchdowns, including in the season-finale at Houston where he caught eight passes for 138 yards.

Cocaine. Wow.

Jones may not be a hard core addict or anything but this does tell us that he's a likely a serious partier -- and that is probably at the core of his motivational issues
Since he was doing it in a truck in a vacant parking lot at night, makes me think he just may be a hard core addict.

I don't see much difference between the two drugs as far as party use. Of my friends that do drugs, half seem to be weed and half seem to be coke. I am certain if any walk through their halls at work, half the people are doing one of them. Unless you work at a church, in which case I bump that up to 3/4 of the people ;P

I dunno, one of the articles I saw (maybe not one I posted) said it was on Dickson street, which is kind of Fayetteville's mini-version of Sixth street. There are usually lots of people walking around, etc. Maybe if anything, he thought since he was a big star there, he wouldn't get in trouble.

Most likely, though, he's just incredibly stupid.

And to me it wouldn't matter if it was pot. When you have his reputation for being a slacker to start with, any kind of drug use is a killer.

I know I say this a lot, but I hope Jerry is paying attention. This is why I would never risk drafting a guy with these issues in college, even if they're just strong rumors. Why would they be any different once they got their hands on a ton of money?

Wow....

Matt Jones must have been running with Josh Hamilton's old crew....

Just sad.. What a waste of talent.

On a positive note though.. this should increase his street cred.

Here's the thing... the possible potential that he could've had, in Jerry Jones eyes, MIGHT still exist. Now with the talk of the Cowboys WR position being weak past the starters, Jones will probably be thinging, "why not take a chance on him after the Jags cut him at a very good price"... if he doesn't produce, then the Cowboys would be minimaly hurt; if he does come through, concentrates and knows that he might not have any more chances in the NFL after his next team, then the Cowboys would have made out in an overall weak postion adding good depth.

Looking at it this way, it is tough to see why Jerry Jones MIGHT give this some thought.

Uh, Matt Jones being arrested for possession of cocaine will lead to a major suspension by Goodell. Why the hell would you want to risk a roster spot that your not even sure when the Commish will allow to play and you have no idea if he would benefit the team or not?

LOL, this is very true... except that although I know many people that are into these 2 illegal drugs, many more smoke (or vape) weed. A smaller percentage use coke (and of these none smoke weed) but I do think that coke is a more dangerous drug based on the fact that it can kill you. Marijuana has never killed anyone, ever.

BTW, on ESPN First Take they just said that they also found ganja residue :) Guess he enjoyed the kryp also. Now they are talking about the COwboys-NY Giants last season :(

What's your point? Cuz i don't want to assume.

Just throwing it out there that just about everything is forgivable... especially for Jerry Jones.

No need to assume or read into it. ;)

Michael Irvin is a hall of famer receiver that bled blue and silver. Quincy Carter on the other hand, was not.

I would have guessed that he was a marijuana user. The cocaine is surprising.

maryjane use surprises me among football players because most know it can be detected for a really long time in the system whereas coke and heroin (and many others) clear more quickly.

To me, that is more consistent with being out with your boys, getting drunk and then making a bad decision

Note: I say "bad decision" only because he's a football player and he'll can catch a suspension -- I have no problem with anyone on the board who casually uses cocaine.

In the 1st article Chocolate Lab posted, it said early morning hours.
Sounds like an all nighter and in a parking lot.
Not a party atmosphere, nor social user, more like a closet alcoholic or addict. A user a user no matter the location.:(

I have noticed that also. ALl my friends that enjoy coke will never touch weed. Lol. It is more dangerous. I just find that of the manufactured drugs, coke is the most used in a party environment. You get very few parties where someone breaks out the heroine and asks who wants to fly. And pot doesn't kill?!? Have you seen those comercials?? "Dude... I feel so invulnerable. Is this your dad's loaded gun right here in the drawer... ?" ;)
