You could be on the Isaiah Stanback staying healthy through preseason bandwagon

In the 1st article Chocolate Lab posted, it said early morning hours.
Sounds like an all nighter and in a parking lot.
Not a party atmosphere, nor social user, more like a closet alcoholic or addict. A user a user no matter the location.:(

you mean early morning hours -- like when bars close?

like I said. sounds to me like he was out with the boys and someone happened to score some blow. that's a "party" atmosphere to me.

trust me, coke is WAY too expensive for it to be out in the open at a party with tons of people around the way you are thinking. people just don't roll like that.

What gets me is these players know full well what is at risk in terms of money and career and do it anyways. At one time I smoked weed but when I took on a job that would test then the choice was easy to make, stop smoking because my job is more important. It appears getting high is more important to Matt Jones than having the opportunity to play in the NFL. I have no sympathy for any of these idiots.

As it is with A LOT of other people more so than Matt Jones. I know lawyers who toke and Drs who snort. They would be stupid to go to work in that condition but it is what it is and this is far from new. I would be hard pressed to believe that there is an NFL team out there who has less than half their players enjoying a drug of some kind.

If Matt Jones was here last year and scored on that Crayton miss TD... this thread would be very different.

I hear you. I simply mean a party type of environment. A handful of people getting together for that. Not to break open on a table during a friends 30th.

If Matt Jones had ever done anything remotely good since he got to the NFL then he might have still have a career after his drug habits were revealed.

Now he's just a bust with a coke habit who has never produced. Why would anyone take a risk on him now? especially now that teams will pay a penalty when one of their players gets himself in trouble.

Hold on now -- using a drug doesn't mean you have a "habit" - that's a big jump there

Early morning hours for me is dawnish. The bars here in maryland close at 2am., hence the all nighter. Plus leaving the bars is usually the night's winding down mode. But doing your snowplow impression after closing time for me is doing the exact opposite of winding down (all nighter).

You don't just wake up one day and decide you're going to snort lines of coke. It's definitely one of those drugs that people migrate up to.

seems like you are making some assumptions about what was meant by "early morning hours"

1 am, 2 am -- those are early morning. and you'll commonly see news reports describe that time in that way because it sounds more dramatic than "really late at night"

So what does that tell us? That he's used marijuana in the past? That he's done coke in the past?

I really think that might describe a huge proportion of the guys in the league right now.

Again, being caught using a drug certainly doesn't necessarily mean a guy has a habit - it could simply mean that he and his boys got drunk and then scored some blow. The fact that he's not caught a drug suspension means that whatever "habit" he has is one that he's been able to conceal despite regular drug testing.

He was a crappy football player to begin with, he diddnt need this to make him even more unattractive to the 32 NFL franchises.

What's interesting is that if he were busted for pot, I don't know that people would care as much. Cocaine is on another level as far as drug entertainment.

It's definitely on another level in the eyes of the law, considering he's facing a felony charge.
