Then the question becomes how much do you commit to guy that has had two major knee surgeries?

Because no matter what the doctors see, and I'm sure they know this, that knee will never be 100 percent.

Do you sign this guy to a 5 year contract, which I'm sure is what he's after? From Javon's history, I doubt he's the type to sign a 1 year deal like Hamlin did.

How do you know that it can't be 100%? He had more trouble with it than a team would like, but they probably rushed him back to soon.

Knee injuries are problematic but really i would hope to think jones is being prudent here. This is taking some time and to me there is little question that both sides are interested. I am sure they are haggling over this very issue.

Hes only 27 years old so what a 3 year deal? Modest SB and a good roster bonus due Feb 1 of next year? i would think it would have to be something where the first year is a trial of sorts that pays him well after the trial or hes cut loose.

Multiple knee injuries in 2 years is VERY risky.

Talking about it on 103.3 right now... Says he just talked to some people at Valley Ranch and they say we still have high interest in Walker. He even puts it at a 70% chance that we sign him eventually.

FWIW.

Why are people excited about this move? He isn't all that. I would rather draft a young WR..

If...Walker is healthy, he would be a nice addition, but again..."if" he's healthy.

Not all that? The guy is a flat out #1 WR if he's healthy. You can't expect a rookie WR to come in here next year and step in and do what a healthy Javon Walker could do.

I know his knee is the big "if", but there is a reason 10 teams are interested in him. He has first round WR talent! He's a proven big play WR!

I agree with everyone saying they want to know the condition of his knee, but if we sign him you can rest assured the doctors gave him a good report on the knee. He returned last year to play in the last 3 games of the season.

Also, Shanahan only said in reponse to a question that it's a "possibility" he may have to microfacture surgery in "2 or 3 maybe 4 years, we just don't know". That doesn't mean the guy can't play next season.

Here is a good link to a video of Walker after the Bronco's last game this past season and in the interview he is very confident he will go somewhere and continue to make big plays...http://blog.denverbroncos.com/mason/category/offense/wide-receivers/javon-walker/

I hope his knee checks out and we sign him. IMO, he is a much better fit here than Moss, even though I always wanted Moss in a Cowboy uniform.

Looking at his arthroscopy, going over the operative report and talking to his docs should answer a lot of questions about his knee. There is no way we can tell what's going on here. I'm sure if they are looking at him then Dallas is doing its due diligence on Walker.

Having him, TO, and hopefully TG makes this team better. I don't understand why people are writing TG off much less Walker. We'll know about TG during camp. If his knee swells then there is your answer. Until then I'd hope everyone is pulling for TG to play. Not saying count on him. There are two aging WRs on the team. Even though TO is not in the same boat we have reason to replenish our WR talent starting this year. FA and the draft are the way to go and I'll be very surprised if we don't get a first or second round WR in the draft.

If we sign Walker, hopefully he can stay healthy. If we get another young receiver ala James Hardyto develop, etc.. then I will be on board with this.

Glenn is done and Walker would be a more than adequate replacement if healthy.

Austin is fast. Thats it. There is really nothing more to him.

Where did you read he is developing nicely??? He cant run sharp routes, he cant catch very well, and doesnt have any agility or wiggle to him on kickoff returns.

I hope him and Hurd are cut and we bring in Walker and a 1st round draft pick.

Are you kidding? Miles AUstin runs some damn good routes...

If someone gets cut, it's Austin and not Hurd. The only think Austin has going for him is that he can return kicks, but so can Stanback. As a WR, Hurd is a lot better than Austin. (People are forgetting those two TD drops Austin had in the Skins game.)

Oh yeah, and people are forgetting that Hurd is still only 22. Around the same age as the rookies in the draft. He still has a lot of time to develop.

Nobody is forgetting that Austin dropped two balls. Everybody who likes Austin admits he needs to work on his catching, but we also remember that he got clear separation on those two balls he dropped. He was wide-open....

What if the Cowboys clear Roy Williams physically...

I'd rather throw picks to get Fitz, or Roy.

we all would...unfortunately it doesnt seem either team is interested though

takes two to tango, though we may can land Roy Williams in free agency next yr

That is what makes me wary of signing Walker to any long term deal. If we wait a year, ya gotta like .our chances of snagging Roy Williams in FA. Doubt we can do this if we extend TO have Walker on multi year deal and a high draft pick plus Crayton on the team.

The more I think about it, the more I'm backing off Walker. Too risky, imo.

I guess it depends on how healthy he is...he had a great 2006 and was off to another good start in 2007 before the knee flared up (17 catches, back to back 100 yd games to start)...

we could use another offensive playmaker, and if he's healthy he's probably the best chance we have to add one...the only other bigtime skill player I could see them adding with a real chance to make a difference is McFadden, and he's a real long shot at best in terms of us getting a chance to get him

If it wasn't for thye knee issues then I would be all over this guy. I am just leery of signing a guywho could end up filling the d=same role Terry Glenn did last year. If we get him I'll hope for the best, but I do hope we draft a receiver in the first as insurance.

So If we do decide to sign him are we going to see a thousand posts saying, "I cant believe we are signing a WR with a bum knee"

Or will the approach be, we looked at the leg thoroughly and decided to value our doctors opinion more than that leathery rat coach in Denver? Or will he always be damaged goods to some here even after hes cleared?

Didn't you know? This board's doctors know better than the team doctors.
