Dude made the same brilliant comments last year, the year before and the year before that. Idiots like me can see he can't read the field, he can see he makes dumb passes yet here we are wondering why our $40 large ones QB can't fix it. His rooke mistake days are long goneg.....
If we can see it why didn’t our ownership , front office and coaching staff?

If it wasn’t for his production the Cowboys would have been sitting home for the playoffs every season. His defenses haven’t been worth a crap until the last two seasons. He was on pace for over 6000 yards in 2020 until he was injured because he had crap for a defense. Stop hating and get real!
Oh brother on pace for 6000 yards. It would have been a surprise if he ended with 4000 yards let alone 6000. The fact is there is no earthly way any QB keeps up that pace and we saw it last season with Prescott. Hot start and then absolute fall apart in the latter half of the season. I personally don’t think he ever recovered from that Broncos game.

We finally have the potential to play complementary football. Offense is going to needs to improve, but there will be times where they are going to need to pick up the defense.

Exactly.........remember reading a couple of comments from Hurts after last season about what his coaches told him when he took over the starting job from Wentz. As he put it......they basically wanted him to play a clean game, take what the defense give him and play within himself and they would take care of the rest.

As stated, 20 points a game should be enough but more importantly ( IMO ) is converting turnovers to TDs or a min FGs.

In his seventh season, Dak should finally get it but I'm not convinced this is true. I need to see more.

And some of you need to watch the games instead of just posting false info.
And you know, it is part of football to throw a lot of check down passes, as long as they move the chains.

60% (yes I made that up, plus I am probably close to it) Mahomes checked down to Hill and he got a lot of YAC yards. Every game I seen many passes where a WR hangs around toward the sidelines, and when no one was open Mahomes tossed a 2 yard pass to a wide open guy and he would run for 20 yards.

But hey that narrative only applies to Dak. As you will ignore the facts I just gave you.

We started in 2019 with Amari Cooper here,

https://www.sportsinfosolutions.com...-amari-cooper-face-challenge-with-colts-zone/

Having Cooper as a weapon against man defenses has improved the entire offense, as Prescott’s game has been elevated to new heights against man defenses, including a 48-point jump in IQR.

Comp % Y/A TD INT IQR
Pre Amari 52% 6.2 3 3 71
With Amari 61% 8.8 8 1 119

Despite this massive jump in production against man defense, Prescott has not had nearly as much success against a zone defense and his IQR has dropped from 100 to 84 with Cooper on the roster. Though he has an 80 percent completion percentage versus zones, it’s almost entirely short-pass based. He has no touchdowns and two interceptions on 91 attempts.

We ended in 2021 with Amari Cooper here,

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ffenses-struggles-ready-for-more-targets/amp/

The Cowboys have struggled since Dak Prescott’s return from a calf injury. In the first six games of the season, the Cowboys averaged 460.8 yards and 34.2 points per game.

After missing a game with his calf injury, Prescott returned in Week 9. The Cowboys have averaged 351.7 yards and 25.1 points the past six games.

The team’s red zone numbers are lacking. For the season, the Cowboys have 28 touchdowns in 52 red zone trips. That includes six touchdowns in 18 trips the past five games.

The Cowboys have four takeaways in each of the past three games but have scored only 27, 27 and 21 points.

This idea that Dak was attacking defenses when they stopped blitzing so much and running more men is coverage is hot garbage. Dak has ALWAYS been risk averse to zones in particular and he often checks down immediately when he has to make progression reads.

They only provide those stats in defense of the attacks that claim he basically suks. One extreme claim gets an extreme response.

Your comparisons in above thread are more accurate. The Watsons, Cousins, Murray’s, Carrs for example are more his peers and are similarly paid . And have had similar team success.

We need to stop comparing him to the Elites .

At the end of the day, Dak is the starting QB of the Cowboys and based on his contract will be for more years to come. So while many will disagree on Dak, whether it be in support or in criticism, we as fans should agree that we have no control over any aspect of this team so why then keep attacking one another over these differences of opinion?

I am as guilty as others and recognize that I can't change anyone but me so here is to hoping that I will do better on this site in that regards.

Have a great day brother and God bless.

Follow the template set by the Ravens and the Bucs when they won with Dilfer and Brad Johnson. It’s not rocket science. Hard nosed running game, stifling defense and opportunistic special teams. His arm should be the last resort and about the last thing you need from him. Take the ball out of his hands as fast as possible instead of setting up these elaborate routes. Let your playmakers on offense, Lamb, Pollard, Zeke go to work.

That Ravens defense generated a mind-boggling 60 plus TOs that season. We are nowhere near that pace. The Bucs defense with Johnson generated 13 TOs in 3 games in the playoffs and a total of 51 overall. The Dallas defense was BETTER at generating TOs last year and if you adjust for garbage time points scored in the fourth quarter by the Panthers and a eagles to start the season last year, the defense last year as far as PPG was probably equal if not better than the defense this year.

That formula of driving the bus on offense is based on significant TO differentials generated by a ridiculous defense that dominated from start to finish.
We are not that defense and part of the reason is Micah Parsons carried the squad, while the Ravens and Bucs had star players all over the field.

It’s not happening this year most likely with the defense, meaning this team is going to need a huge offensive performance of two to compete in the playoffs. Dak struggled against a Detroit defense that runs HEAVY MAN, the most in the league and Dak drops from decent to just awful against zone. And the Detroit defense coughed up the ball 5 times. Imagine against a playoff caliber team, this type of performance.

I agree, but the question was what would it take to win with Dak. Somewhere between the Ravens and Bucs TO rate would be what it takes. This offense largely goes comatose through most of the game and that isn't the sign of a potent offense.

Ok guys…. at this stage of the game we all already know his deficiencies. Please don’t type them out over many pages.

Is there ANY shot we discuss what we need to do from here to win with him??
Jerry needs to add a team psychologist to the medical program.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the dak butt sniffers are the ones who hate Romo. 100percent on this, watch them discredit romo to pump up this loser. Heck, watch them hate on Rush who beat 4 good teams. sheesh. the hate is alive.

9 out of 10 dak butt sniffers are Romo haters.

This is a great post and very informative. The only thing that I disagree with is the statement where you said some of his fans thinks he is Mahomes....

I got to be honest with you.... I have never seen any of the biggest Dak supporters on this board, ever post anything, like that. Nobody believes Dak is on the level of Mahomes bro....

I have seen a few people post things putting Dak at Mahomes' level. Not recently though.

I really don't think there is much of a divide among the fanbase over Dak as it appears. The majority of his supporters probably have him in the 5-10 range and his detractors having him in the 11-16 range with a handful of flyers saying higher or lower. The primary source of disagreement among the rational fans is probably the financial value of a QB in that range.

If you look, most of the nasty over the top disagreements are generated by a vocal minority on both extremes.

When the time comes trade him for as much value as possible. That's the best chance we have at winning.

I think our own fans really underestimate how Good Dak is lol..

the dude has three top 5 finishes by football outsiders in their DVOA ranking for QB's.

2016 Rank - 4th
2019 Rank - 1st
in 2020 he was 5th in QBR and 8th in DVOA but ranked 19th in DYAR
2021 Rank - 3rd

Dude is not a game manager. You can't win with one in the modern NFL

I think you are interpreting this wrong. The great Nate Newton describes Tom Brady as "the best game manager of all time." He also classifies Troy Aikman as a tremendous game manager. I believe along with Nate that ALL QBs should be game managers. But as with everything, some are better at it than others. Being a game manager doesn't mean you CAN'T sling it.. Being a game manager means knowing when you need to sling it and when you don't... and being comfortable with either as long as the end result is a win. A GOOD game manager is one who knows what it takes to win and does whatever that is on any given Sunday. Hand it off, run it, sling it deep, sling it short, quick strike, long drives. Whatever it takes.. do it and win.. THAT is what a game manager is to me..

The ironic thing, is his ‘haters’ aren’t generality the guys posting these sound-bytes of Dak, that he’s finally gotten it. This is the same talk he spews every year.

To be fair, it’s football and there is only so much you can say, but what is clear is Dak is doing the same things he’s always been doing.

He is who he is. An average roster would expose these flaws way more than he is being exposed now.

We're all rooting for Dak but let's stop acting like's he's a top 10 QB, he's not.

The sad part is that because we are currently seeing such a huge disparity in talent from the top 8 to the bottom 24, Dak is very close to being in the top 10. It’s the worst I’ve seen in my lifetime and now with Rodgers, Stafford and Brady slumping , the top 3 qbs in the NFC may be Hurts, Cousins an Prescott……sad but true.

this is an excellent and accurate take imo……if he was paid 25 million a year he would have the talent around him that he so badly needs. If there was no salary cap….I wouldn’t and shouldn’t care about his salary.

This guy knows he posts false info.. though I'm not sure he actually watches games.. A couple of weeks ago he posted that Dak threw 4 pick sixes in the first three games of 2017 including 2 pick sixes in the Denver game which forced the coaching staff to completely revamp the offense to cover for him. Never mind the fact that Dak only threw two pick sixes that entire season and has only thrown like 4 or 5 his entire career.. Nobody's that ignorant so I can only conclude that he comes here posting false crap to troll. Apparently it amuses him..
