I totally disagree it is his confidence. His struggles have been mostly due to a loss of confidence. He’s been dealing with a lot of stuff the past couple of years with the ankle injury and his brothers suicide. He admitted he’s battled depression. Along with the fan base jumping on him it’s taken its toll on him. If he had a problem reading defenses he would have a ton of INT’s with all the passing he’s done over his career. He’s had to carry the team.

He didn’t carry the team anywhere, Amari Cooper led us to the playoffs. When you think of someone carrying the team it’s Micah Parsons. Dak has just been a benificiary of inheriting a good team and getting paid along the way for keeping Dallas relevant in one of the weakest divisions in the NFL.

2022 is a true test to see if he can carry us anywhere, as of right now he’s not even Top 3 on the team in performance

That criticism is one of many absolute piles of horse dung these "fans" level at Dak. The guy is the 7th highest rated passer of all time while allegedly not being able to read defenses. Dak's career completion percentage is 6th in NFL history. Despite the childish "Dink and Dak" moniker his yards per attempt are generally among the top 5-10 in the league and I believe is top 20 all time. And as you mention.. he doesn't throw a ton of INTs.. which is what USUALLY happens to QBs who can't read defenses.

And I don't think anybody thinks he has played for any offensive gurus in his career either so whatever he's doing he's pretty much doing it on his own. Why it bothers so many people to admit that this guy is simply a really good QB is a complete mystery to me.

I was just thinking the same thing. Dak has been one of the top prolific passers in the NFL and for the Cowboys. You don't hold him back. Currently Brady and Rodgers are struggling with the BUCS and Packers, respectively. Some will point to their age and there is some validity to that but not much. They are missing some key wide receivers and tight ends to throw to on their teams. Their offensive lines aren't as rock solid as they used to be.

Not one of those QBs you named has had to carry their team. Goff played for some pretty good teams in Los Angeles. They leaned a lot on their running game that had over 200 yards against the Cowboys in the playoffs in 2018. Jimmy G has been a bus driver his entire career. Go add up how many times he’s had to attempt over 40 to 50+ passes a game. Not a single one of those QBs has had to throw the ball as much as Dak. You obviously didn’t look into this very closely. There’s a reason Dak has had so many 400+ yard games.

In regard to the bolded, and they don't carry their team nor does Dak carry this team. There's nothing wrong with being a bus driver (which Dak is) as long as the offensive play around him and the defensive play support it (which so far the defensive play is what is getting our wins).

So it's all the defenses fault? Okay, no surprise there with the excuses.

PPG allowed by Dallas by year:

2016: 19 ppg
2017: 20 ppg
2018: 20 ppg
2019: 20 ppg
2020: 29 ppg
2021: 21 ppg

So outside of 2020, the Dallas defense has been very consistent in their points allowed and most would say that 20 ppg allowed is a good defense which should allow for offenses to help win the game.

That said, here is the Dallas ppg offensive average for the same years:

2016: 26 ppg
2017: 22 ppg
2018: 21 ppg
2019: 27 ppg
2020: 24 ppg
2021: 31 ppg

So while the defense has been consistent, it is actually the offense that hasn't been and is evident in 2017, 2018, and 2020 (Dak's injury season) that the defense wasn't the reason that Dallas didn't make the playoffs but rather the offense so while you want to remove all blame from Dak the fact is the Dak led offense has blame to be placed on it.

Well quarterbacks like Brees, Rich Gannon, etc didn't have their better years until after 6 or seven years in the league.... it does happen. There are more quarterbacks who've had better success after their 6th or 7th seasons as well.

Then there were elite quarterbacks who got it but never won a Superbowl.....

So i know this may be shocking news to you but.... Dak isn't the first quarterback this may happen to.
